"My wife and I have traveled all over the world. Our recent trip to Italy is one of our greatest trips ever."
"Everything thing except the pick up at the airport was prefect. Our tour director was so very good, and was spot on with things The bus drivers were excellent, the accommodations were fine and the places were beautiful!"
"Our trip to Italy was everything we had hoped for. Our Tour Director Monique was knowledgeable and even gave us some unexpected surprise stops that were not in the original tour. There were 7 of us that travels together in our group. Our only disappointment were our flights. We had 2 stops with a total of 9 hours of layovers one way which made our trip particularly exhausting and uncomfortable.
"
"Kay Macintyre was a most excellent guide as she navigated our group through the ins and outs of London sites! I would book this trip in a heartbeat!"
"Well planned and directed tour by Dina Incelli of Southern Italy along with delicious food and wine tasting and views. Tour explored ancient sites and the many cultural influences to make a rich history. The varied experiences reached all interests. I would recommend this tour as excellent."
"This tour was amazing from beginning to end. The tour guide Colm Austin was very informative and witty. He as well as the driver Michael Connolly were funny, courteous and attentive to all of our needs and wants. Ireland is beautiful and the people so warm and welcoming. All the hotels were great and the food top notch and plentiful. I would go back in a second to expperience this beautiful country again. Go Ahead Tours was my 1st experence with a tour group and I will definetly be using them again and recommending them to my friends. "
"Tour director Marta was excellent. Friendly professionalism. Hotel Pierre in Florence is a solid choice- Great location, Very pleasant rooms, helpful staff. The walking tour of Florence provided a nice overview- the guided tour of Basilica of Santa Croce was marvelous- the guide was personable and informative. We really appreciated the extended stay in Florence ( 4 nights) with the free time to delve deeper into the city. The excursion to Pisa was valuable and the excursion to the Villa at Firesole was marvelous, well worth the price.
We enjoyed the included tour of Lucca- biking the top of the medieval wall was an extra treat- well worth the time-
The stay at Hotel Jolonda in Santa Margherita was equal to the Pierre. A short walk from the waterfront. Nice sized rooms with friendly helpful staff. The included trip to Cinque Terre was spectacular- even if rough seas prohibited us from boating between the ports. I hope to spend more time in Monterossa and Vernazza on a future Italian adventure. We lunched at Ristoratne Belfort. most highly recommended Make advance reservations-
We added the Italian Riviera towns excursion- which included lunch at Ristorante dei Castelli in Sestri Levano fantastic food in a wonderful setting- Great choice- the afternoon ferry tour to Portofino was also spectacular- We had adequate time to get a taste of Portofino the hike to the castle is well worth the investment of time.
The closing dinner at Hotel Jolando was far better than the opening dinner in Florence in my opinion. It was a challenge saying arrivederci to the 20 new friends we spent the past 7 days with. "
"Everything about this trip was fantastic. Hotels, guides (Especially Danielle) and transfers."
"I was a single traveler on this trip but was welcomed by everyone; couples, groups of friends, and parents with grown children.
Pros: I plan for a loving so it was nice to have Go Ahead plan everything and I only had to worry about getting on the bus! Galway and Cork were lovely villages/towns. I wish we had stayed another day in Galway, as the landscapea and the area was simply beautiful and idyllic. The drive down the Atlantic way is not to be missed and was breathtaking at times. The side trips that we took to the crystal and marble factory were great trips for the extra €10. I really love visiting the local businesses and artisans and those are highlights of all my trips. Dublin was too busy of a city for me and we were only showed around for about an hour, then had a day and a half to tour on our own. That was nice, but as I said, I would prefer to leave the planning to GoAhead. Dublin has a lot of public transport and hop on hop off busses for the tourists, and it is actually pretty walkable. The food was great and the Guinness was better. There was a tropical storm that hit Ireland in the middle of the week. I was so very impressed that all the tour groups grounded the buses and made everyone go back to their hotels for safety. Our tour director was very composed and even though she had to cancel an excursion (the only one I booked) she still made the day enjoyable. We also had a great trip to the Woollen Mills in Blarney, which was a great store with amazing local food.
Cons: We spent way too much time on the bus! It is hard to meet people and get to know each other when you spend hours forward facing on a bus. There was very little engagement on the bus ride, but this probably depends on your guide. Trivia, history, or intro to the local language are all ways to keep us interested and having fun on those long rides! It rained a lot (which is typical for Ireland) so bring your umbrella and rain boots! The tour director told us we didn't need to wear our name badges, and remembering names is nearly impossible for me, so I really didn't get to know many people's names.
Anyway, the Cliffs of Mohr were just gorgeous! The day before we visited, someone was taking a dangerous selfie and fell over. Please don't be stupid and stay away from the edge!! There were so many sheep and cows, I wish we could gave stopped to see some. We went to an Irish dinner and show that was a last minute addition. It was very overpriced and crowded, but fun. The hotels were all winners on this trip. They were not always in the best most centralized location, but they were all clean, comfy, and well appointed.
Overall, I wish the trip was a day or two longer, less time on the bus, more engagement during travel would be nice, and I would absolutely recommend this tour!!!"
"Anna Caruso was great. The tour itself was great but we signed up to arrive 3 days early and paid GoAhead to do this. Then a few weeks before GoAhead reneged and said they need an extra $300 and stuck using the Astoria hotel which was in a terrible neighborhood next to a commercial market that opened before dawn and left rotten vegetables laying in the streets along with overflowing dumpsters. Not happy with that"
"Once again a First class Tour Director made for a ‘first class experience’ with some very interesting and Historical sites.
Accommodations and food were superb as was the itinerary.
Only negative to the whole trip was a very upsetting message we got about 10 days before we were scheduled to leave - informing us due to our failure to supply the correct information regarding ‘my’ passport particulars resulting in a possible failure that I would be recognized as the named passenger on my airline ticket -BUT- if we chose to pay another $10000 to have a corrected ticket issued...This was resolved by another member of the administrative staff at the cost of further $300 to us.
As we had made arrangements regarding house/dog sitting, we were in a ‘catch 22 situation’ we reluctantly paid another $300. We were very disappointed with this situation and we would hesitate to thrown ourselves at the mercy of a very ‘scant’ supply of info, even though we had paid a &600 deposit to ensure our booking confirmation in late 2018/2019."
"I was by myself in 3 new countries, but not really because my tour guide and tour group were not far away anytime. The accommodations and food were amazing, and the sights and entertainment set up for me were perfect. I learned so much about the UK and Ireland, and about travelling. Its never too late to learn how to travel. I am 64. As a bonus, I made new friends that I may travel with in the future. "
"We saw so much and did the most amazing tours and dinners. It was top notch from beginning."
"Our tour was greater than we could have imagined. NZ is a beautiful country. Our guide, Tim Reed, was well versed in the island's history and runs a tight ship!"
"The itinerary was most interesting and I got to see places I had not seen on previous trips to this part of Europe. An excursion to Abbotsford outside of Edinburgh was especially pleasurable. All included meals were very good and we had the good fortune to be in the company of a truly great guide."
