"Our director was amazing in terms of setting a positive tone and a welcoming atmosphere for our group! Our driver was amazingly skilled and so thoughtful. "
"return flight home canceled several days prior to departure home - no customer service support or promised monitoring by supposed 24/7 support team "
"This was my first time traveling with a group. Having transportation from the airport was great, though we a had to wait two hours for more people to arrive before we could go to the hotel. The hotel location in Budapest was awesome. The view of the Parliament building across the river was fantastic. The breakfast at the hotel in Budapest was great every morning. The guided tour of Budapest was good, it was only four hours which gave us the rest of the day to explore on our own. Budapest was overall our favorite city on this tour. The buildings, history, nightlife and it was very English friendly. The bus ride to Vienna was good. We stopped in Bratislava for 3 hours around lunch time, which gave enough time to see what we needed in their city center. The hotel in Vienna was overall nicer than the one in Budapest, but the location and breakfast weren't quite as good. The guided tour of Vienna was good, despite it raining the entire time. Vienna was overall our least favorite place. We did the river boat tour to Melk and it was great tour with beautiful scenery in the Wachau Valley. The bus trip to Prague was long but good. The hotel in Prague was nice, but a couple miles from the old town. All of the hotels were close to tram stops so you can get around easily on public transit. The guided tour of Prague was my favorite, but it is a lot of walking and can be very crowded. It rained the whole time for this tour as well. I wish I would have had more time and better weather to enjoy Prague, but I'm sure I will go back again. The tour director was nice and funny. Most of our tour group was great, the only negative was there were a few people that were always late which in a couple cases made it so we didn't have as much time to get around on a couple of our tours. "
"A friend and I traveled to London, Scotland and Ireland through Go Ahead Tours and Steel Wallis. We had such a wonderful time. Steel is an amazing tour guide. He's very organized, knowledgeable and had great ideas for the little extras. The group we were in was always "all in" for any suggestions! We didn't care if it were rain or shine!
I already told my husband that we need to plan a trip for our 25th wedding anniversary!! "
"This was my first time to travel abroad, I went with a friend who has traveled with Go ahead several times. Our trip was to theGreek isles, everything went very smooth, our tour group was a perfect size no to big, our accommodations were all very nice our tour guide was Very informative and made the trip fun he was all around nice person! All the excursions were great and if you were a history buff this would be a tour to go on. I guess my only two things I would change are , in Mykonos if accommodations were in walking distance to town so we didn’t have to wait for a shuttle, place was nice but very far out from everything , my second item is traveling from the west coast, if our lay overs were not so long it made it a long day coming and going! Over all it was a fun great experience and yes I would go with go ahead again. Thank you "
"This tour was amazing! The food & wine were absolutely delicious and our guide Daniele was wonderful! I highly recommend this tour; especially in September when Italy is not so crowded."
"We loved our tour guide, Francesco Nappi; he truly organized the whole experience and kept us well-informed about when and where we were going, what to bring, etc. We were pleased that our group was a cross-section of age, ethnicity and experience. Two matters to consider for the future of this particular tour: it is exhausting to be changing hotels so often, plus the hotels are not of equal quality or all in central locations. Other than that, if you want to see and learn and experience a wide variety of settings, scenery, history, food and optionals, this is the one to take! Oh, and never book Air France again!"
"Maybe the title of the tour says it all, "Grand Tour of Germany", but although it was an introduction to the large geography of Germany, I felt it was instead a one note of WW11. Certainly, the history of the war and recovery of the area is hugely significant, but the tour lacked any introduction to the vast cultural impact Germany has made worldwide with its music, literature, engineering, and art.
Creatively so many other different exposures to the German culture could have been included.
Example: during the many 2-3 hours bus rides, the tour director could have better used the time for DVD presentations of art, playing of different musical compositions, and or movies that depicted the war. Only on one occasion did out tour director play a movie "Bridge of Spies", relevant to the actual bridge we recently saw. It was so well received by us on the bus, that when we got to our next location before the movie ended, we all asked that we see the rest of it on the next bus ride.
We had close to 35 participants. Our understanding was that another tour group, approximately 8 people, were added to our tour because there were not enough people for which they signed up. This made bathroom breaks, administrative duties, and other timely schedules cumbersome and lengthier than usual.
Although all tour directors are not created equal, I realized that I prefer one that is historically knowledgeable and dedicated to improving the experience of the tour. We have had a few exceptional GAT directors. On this particular tour, I felt our director had other admirable skills: empathetic, articulate and exacting use of English, conveyance of personal experiences. Comparisons to other tour directors could be argued are subjective based on style, creativity or personality.
However, tour directors should have command of her group, should be timely with schedule start times, meticulous with regard to reservation details, knowledge of routes and directions. These I believe are the responsibilities GAT has assigned their directors. On this tour these were sorely lacking.
Realizing that for me, so much rests on the shoulders of the tour director, I will be reluctant to consider future tours with Go Ahead Tours. "
"Wonderful experience. This was my first group excursion and I’m glad it was GoAhead Tours. Rafael (Rafa) was a terrific tour director and Victor was great driver."
"First trip with go ahead tours. Enjoyed the entire trip. Nicola was a very big help in keeping us organized with times excursions.
Remember to bring wash cloth's with you if its important to you, some hotels do not carry them."
"The tour was excellent and Marcello is a wonderful guide."
"I have done many trips with GoAhead, but this one is the best!
Tour director, hotels, transportation, all first class
Ildi one of the best directors I had in my years traveling with the company "
"The tour was awesome. This is our 3rd tour with GoAhead and was really very satisfied, as with the other tours that we had. The tour director was really very pleasant and very knowledgeable about the history and current events happening in the places that we visited. The only complaint we have, and I think with the rest of the tour group was the farewell dinner. Food could have been better. I would highly recommend any tour with GoAhead. We’re already thinking of out 4th tour with them."
"With only a few minor issues, this trip was wonderful. The scenery of Sicily and the southern boot of Italy was spectacular! The foods and wines were equally impressive. Our group was small (27) and we all got along well......always a plus. The villages we visited were amazing considering the topography and extreme inclines....
I will give our tour guide Daniele an A++! He was very accommodating and made the trip a lot of fun!
The big bonus for me was crossing swimming in the Mediterranean (x2) of my bucket list!
This was my 2nd Go Ahead tour experience and I recommend them highly!"
"Flight through Newark were poorly planned. Return flight was rushed and nightmarish. Initial Bus was comfortable, Bus used for extended part of Tour was small and cramped. Tour Guide was Excellent plus. Overall trip was great."
