I waited 15 minutes for customer service to pick up the phone. The woman I spoke with was clearly in another country and didn’t understand a word I was saying. She made me repeat my order number about 15 times. I wanted to scream into the phone. After about a half an hour of this nonsense she told me she could do nothing to expedite my order and hung up on me. Harry and David - I have been buying from you for years, but you will never get another dime of my money. "

"I tried to order a gift for my friends in Alaska the week before Thanksgiving. I kept getting messages that my selection could not be sent to the address I selected on the date I selected. I chatted online with a rep, and she said there was no reason it could not be shipped to the address in Alaska. I had not seen anywhere to enter a date, so I told her I'd log back on and try again. It still wouldn't work. I called customer service -- no, that product couldn't be shipped to Alaska, but I could pick something else. This went back and forth, and finally on December 1 I had an order placed. The arrival date passed - no gift. I called. I was told that I had asked for it to be shipped on December 10. December 20 -- no gift. I called again. Apologies -- we'll ship it again on January 21 and send your friends a note and a gift. Now it's January 28, still no gift . I asked for a refund just now and I hope I see it in my account tomorrow.
Harry and David's used to be great as far as both merchandise and shipping went. I will never buy from them again after this experience. If I could give less than one star, I would. I'm just glad my friends believe us when we tell them we tried to get a really nice gift to them before Christmas. "

"I truly can't believe the experience I just had with Harry and David. Ordered a Gift Basket for my Mom for Christmas. Ordered on 12/11. Order confirmation shows a delivery date of on or before 12/18. Credit card was refunded on 12/23 and the order showed cancelled online. They never notified me that they were going to cancel the order. Thanks for cancelling Christmas, Harry and David!"
"Ordered a gift basket with a delivery date before Christmas. An item was delivered 4 days after Christmas and was not the item that I ordered. I deem the item delivered inferior as the item ordered specified multiple meats and cheese and what was delivered had 1 meat, 2 cheeses and some apples and pears. I deem the item delivered inferior to what was ordered and unsatisfactory. No explanation was provided for the order difference. A 20% refund was provided which is the only reason for the 1 star rating.
Do not deal with this company or the parent company 1800Flowers if you want to have someone special actually receive the gift you intend."
"Ordered an Xmas gift on Nov 20 and given a delivery date on or before the Dec 23rd. On Dec 21, I got an email from HD saying that they were sold old of the gift I had selected. They had substituted a different item that would be shipped by Dec 28. WTF. After calling multiple times and waiting over 15min each time I finally talked to a rep. I explained how I thought it was horrible to promote guaranteed on time and gifts that bring happiness. What a croc. The rep explained that they were overwhelmed this Xmas and Covid had affected there production capabilities. She had no answer for why I wasn't notified that the order could not be filled until 2 days before it was supposed to arrive. The substitute item was not something I wanted and the sentiment sent with the order didn't apply to the item anymore. I have done business with HD for years but this is unacceptable. I cancelled the order and will not do business with this company again. "
"My order was due yesterday, Dec 18th. I have tried for 3 days to reach customer service with no success on finding when my order will be shipped.
I have talked to numerous people and the response I keep getting is that there is no problem with the order and they cannot tell me what the hold up is and when it will be shipped.
FYI they do not respond to emails and holding time is over 1 1/2 hrs. In my opinion their customer sevice is the worst I have run across and I have been ordering on line for years."

"On September 6th, 2020, I ordered a gift basket for my brother. I was informed by on line service that the delivery date would be 09/17/20. When I called and inquired about it they replied it would cost an additional $10.00 for express. I declined the additional express explaining that he was ill. Didn’t matter, because my brother died today and still the basket was not delivered. When I called, now it was Saturday that he would receive it. "I received a lovely gift basket my son and his partner gave me. The moose cheese cake was devine, cheese not so good, you can tell it’s processed cheese, THE PEARS ARE TERRIBLE!! Such a disappointment, let them ripen exactly like they said, they have no flavor and the skin on the pears is weirdly thick, I was happy with everything else though. "

"Ordered a basked for mom's day. Website "guaranteed" delivery by Mother's Day. Received confirmation with delivery date "on or before 5/8" (which included the $14.95 delivery fee). On 5/6 receive email stating "part" of my order has shipped with an expected delivery date of 5/13. 5/13 (after mom's day) and "part"? I only ordered 1 basket.
Go to the website to find they have substituted the basket I ordered with a cheaper basket and tried to make up the price difference by including a "sweet pepper and onion" salsa (which was the only thing that had shipped so far). So, not only are they trying to provide something completely different than I ordered, they included a salsa that likely has been sitting in their warehouse for years since no one would order that crap.
Call customer service and after an extensive wait on hold the rep tells me they ran out of the basket I ordered and "we reserve the right to substitute items to ensure delivery date". I asked why the didn't contact me to resolve the problem and rep stated "we don't do that because we don't have time to spend all day on the phone". Seriously, that was the response. I kid you not.
So, rather than substituting a nicer / higher priced basket and eating the cost due to their mistake OR providing a similar item and refunding the cost difference (and perhaps providing free shipping) they do the above. AND it won't make it in time for Mother's Day anyway.
Really? I will NEVER order from this supposed "customer focused, premium" gift basket company again as they are neither customer focused nor premium.
