Don't bother - scammed

"I received an email from H&D at 9:16am today offering 33% off and free shipping. It was good for all day 12/17/2018.
After spending time on the website, I tried to place my order and the code said it was expired. I just received the email 2 hours ago.

I call the main number and the person on the other line tells me I need to hold for 2-3 minutes so he can check it out.
I then chatted with Crizalyn M who assured me she would honor the code AFTER I placed my order.
She said the total was 53.59 and I’d receive a confirmation email in 10-15 minutes. It didn’t show up.

After an hour, I chatted again with Hazel Jean B. I told her I wanted my confirmation email.
She kept me online for well over 15 mins.
She told me I’d get an email in 24-48 hours. I told her NO, that is unacceptable and I want my confirmation email.

While on HOLD for so long, I checked my credit card and see that I was charged the FULL amount of 103.96!
I told her about the charge and she says I’ll be credited 50.00 in 2- 3 weeks!
I told her this is a scam and to cancel my order. She asked me to hold and never came back.
Don't bother... it's a nightmare and will take up all your time.

Pears

"I ordered your pears in hopes of having mouth watering pears drip down my shirt.
Your pears we over pay for is suppose to be quality that nobody else can match and way above supermarket pears that I can purchased for less than $2.00/pound.
The pears in my shipment are truly below your standards. My disappointment, my thinking that your pears were above all else is no longer.

Worst Customer Service EVER!!

"Ordered 4 items for Christmas Gifts - was told they would be delivered on Wednesday - It's Friday and no orders have been delivered even though Harry & David have been sending me notices that they were delivered. When I check the Fed Ex Tracking they show they have been sitting in a post office for 2 days and now no one knows where they are. I have been on the phone with customer service for almost an hour now - was left on hold for 26 minutes then the call dropped. Called back and am now on hold again. My gifts were late and they don't care - I had a similar issue last year - thought I would give them another chance - not anymore - Harry and David will never get another dime from me...Run Away!!"

Phone Order Debacle

"I have used Harry and David numerous times over the years, primarily because of the quality of the goods. I received a phone call yesterday asking if I wanted to send the same orders that I sent last year. I was told I would receive a 20% discount. When I received the email confirmation, there was no discount, and I was charged $19.11 in sales tax. I live in Oregon. We have no sales tax. I called the customer service number and got right through to someone, but had terrible difficulty hearing because of the excessive background noise (other customer service people talking loudly). After explaining the story, I was told I would receive the discount. However, I never received any confirmation via email, so I called the number again. After several attempts to explain my situation, the representative still could not understand what I was talking about. At that point, I cancelled the order, and was told I would receive a refund to my card in 5-7 business days. (Funny. It took about 30 seconds for the money to come out of my account.) I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was put on hold for 15 minutes. Finally hung up. Harry and David have lost my business."

No idea why Fed Ex handed off to USPS, but this is a mess

"Order was in the area Sunday [Dallas]. Early Monday morning Fed Ex handed off delivery to USPS [uh oh]. Packages *could* have been delivered Monday by Fed Ex.

Thirteen boxes left by USPS today. Twelve from my order, one for another company in the building. I took the other company their package, hoping they had mine. No such luck.

Chat people on HarryandDavid are useless. I sent them the links showing the delivery of all 13 packages completed. They told me delivery wouldn't be until the 14th. It's the 11th.

Emailed their customer service. They apologized, and said my Merry Mix Up Gift Box was delivered to a couple. I don't know the couple. And I ordered 13 Deluxe Christmas Gift Boxes. Emailed them back to try again.

To say their customer service is sub-standard is an under statement.

Next time I'm ordering Golden State Fruit off Amazon. Consumer Reports gave them a better review than H&D.

Harry and David/Groupon Experience

"I love the comice pears but they are expensive, so I seldom get them. Today I saw a coupon on groupon.com for $14.99 5 pound box of pears. I read the fine print. It said (in the FAQ area, NOT anywhere on the coupon itself), that S&H would not exceed $3.99 if I used the voucher. It gave instructions for how to use it after I purchased it, and great -- it worked! Got all the way through the process at the Harry & David site ... until I clicked on "ship order" and it stopped and redlined me... needed to pay an additional $10.99 for shipping & handling. Their site currently is offering free shipping on their "Maverick" pears; I did not buy them when I was looking at their site a few days ago (hence the spam from Groupon) because I do not believe maverick pears -- 6-8 of them -- are worth $26. I was willing to pay $15 -- somewhat reluctantly, since decent quality comice pears can be found at upscale grocery stores right now for $2-$3 per pound. I could not continue with the order until I paid for the shipping. I didn't even bother trying to cancel the Groupon that I'd already paid for. I just plugged my nose and paid for the shipping. Never again. Buyer beware. This "deal", with the added shipping cost, was exactly the same as what I'd have paid from Harry & David direct page."

Harry and David has the worse customer service ever!

" After the online changes didn't work I was on the phone for 1 hour and 34+ minutes trying to get promo codes and mailer codes to apply to my $300 order. It was the worse customer service ever. I am a returning customer with a significant order. I will never ever order from Harry and David again. And I have many clients to send to. They have a lot to learn from Amazon ease of using the website and providing customer service. Worse company ever!!!!!!"

Poor customer service/delivery

"On 12.4.18 I ordered a chicken pot pie. It was to be delivered 12.7.18. It was not and new date if 12.8.18. Was not delivered and new date of 12.11.18 was on,my tracking. That would mean this pie would be in transit 7 day. Hello, it's chicken! I called customer service and what they wanted was refund the shipping...wtf. I insisted on a full refund and the shipment stopped as it was for my 90 year old parents and was for the snow storm we are currently experience. They finally agreed to the full refund but can not stop the delivery. Now I need to make sure they do not decide to eat a pie that is certainly in the beginning stages of being spoiled. It is my opinion they should have done the full refund as their first option and resend the order to arrive in the timely manner expected."

Unfortunately, without notice to customers, or indication on the point-of-sale page, they decided to more strictly enforce the vague verbiage around the Celebration Passport T&Cs, and no longer will honor partnership programs. "

Where is it?

"A Spring Tower of Sweets was supposed to be sent as gift by April 17th. Now status says it will be sent by May 17th. Of course I have no way of knowing if it will be. I never would have ordered from them if I had known they were going to lie about delivery time. It's not like this is Christmas when they might be expected to be extra busy and have a backlog of orders. Talking to customer service always results in an attempt on their part to "upgrade" the order -- charge me more for something I don't want. I will never buy from them again. I like to support local businesses, but H&D have lost my confidence."

SHRIVELED FRESH(?) FRUIT

"I have been purchasing gift items from Harry and David for several years now. They have been my go-to site for Thank You, Seasonal, Holiday, Birthday and Condolence gifts for friends, relatives and Collegues. My friend of 60 years recently lost her mother and I was unable to get to the services, so I sent a box of pears and apples as something sweet to ease the bitterness of her sorrow. They looked so nice on the website and were on sale (for 22.99) that I decided to order a box for myself. It contained 5 pears and 3 apples. ALL 5 pears (although firm, round and of good weight) were dull, knicked with **** gashes, and covered with brown spots. I did get 3 lbs weight, but I've seen and purchased better pears at my local grocery store for $1.99/lb. All 3 apples (I have no idea what variety they are, it is not indicated) were dull, and shriveled at the stem end indicating that they had started to dehydrate as the peel was puckering away from the fruit. Needless to say, I have purchased more impressive apples at my local grocer for $1.49/lb. Moral of the story: when fresh fruit is on sale, it is probably because it has been sitting around for a while and they need to get rid of it before it becomes a total loss, so they sell it at what appears to be a discounted price. BUYER BEWARE. I should say, in all fairness, when I called them to complain about the condition of the fruit, customer service did offer to send out another shipment. I declined, but I do fear for what is being received by my friend and hope she will not be disappointed and/or upset with me.

horrible

"I have planned this gift delivery 2 weeks advance. It was very important and emotional gift.
I noticed I never got notice of delivery that day, so I contacted the customer service.
They said it was sold out. They never notified or send apology email.
They could just don't tell me the delivery never happened and steal my money for nothing unless I contacted them.
I was very upset, the customer service wasn't really helpful, the person seemed rushing and made me feel like I need to decide what to do next in hurry. They only offered $10 upgrade, I even didn't take it.
Horribe.l... they just ruined all my plan. I'll NOT use them again.
I'm not a complainer or bad reviewer, this is first time I write bad review in my life. People need to know about this company.
