"After submitting my request through HomeAdvisor. It was a couple of weeks before I ever heard from anyone. The first person I heard from was not a contractor, it was a representative from HomeAdvisor asking if my project had been completed. At that point, it had not been completed. I hadn't even heard from the first contractor yet. Even after the HomeAdvisor Representative called me, it was still almost another week before I heard from a contractor. When I was contacted by the contractor, I asked him why he thought it took so long and his answer explained why it took so long. Apparently, contractors are charged for our information and if the job being requested is a low priced job, contractors will oftentimes not pay for the information because it's simply not worth it. Seeing as contractors have to account for the cost of buying information, that cost can be reflected and/or factored into the cost of the job being requested just so the company or individual completing the job isn't taking it as a loss. I believe that system can be restructured to encourage more companies to reach out to potential customers so customers aren't stuck waiting around for a phone call or email. "
