"I have had an account since 2018. Used it a few times to find specialized contractors with no results. Recently I have had an issue with my account which by the way can't be deleted. Someone hacked my account and have been sending me scores of contractors calling all hours of the day and night. As I have found out from one of the contractors, I am not the only one that this has happened to. I contact customer support three times to stop this issue. The last time I got a manager and he said he put a flag on my home number to stop the calls and make the person who was doing this call in and get a name and contact to go after this person. The calls have not stopped and now i am calling Verizon to change my home number which I have had for over 41 years so I can get this issue stopped. I have also talked to an attorney and will be posting a suit and possibly a class action suit some time this year. Stay away from Angie's list and Home advisor. They are one in the same as well. "
"Everything their sales guy Simon Oto says is a lie. I tell him that I am not interested in HomeAdvisor and he starts swearing at me using very foul language and calls me a liar. Most of the sales staff at HomeAdvisor must be criminals and felons given the manner in which they conduct themselves. These HomeAdvisor people are extremely hostile, rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. Do not believe anything these scammers at HomeAdvisor tell you. If they cold call you one day, hang up the phone and run!"
"Please be careful you will spend hundreds on dead leads. I believe this is intentional by HA sales representatives. You may get credit for 1-2 calls pricing is unpredictable. $50 for a $75 job or dead call."
"The charged me hundreds of dollars for leads that I never contacted."
"As a pro member for several years I can tell you they are not of much use to the pro. Their business model is designed to make money and not help the pro.
They charge the pro $ every time they send you a referral and if that referral is fake it is up to you to ask for a credit. They do nothing proactive to ensure they are legit beforehand. If someone is just looking and does not want to be contacted and they give false info so they can get a look at the pro members we get charged and have to fall into certain categories that they consider legitimate excuses for credit. If they give a false email that does not work but made up a phone number that could be any ones we are still expected to pay. I was even told once that they contacted the customer when I said it could not be done and they denied my credit, after which I found out from another employee that they really didn’t reach the customer. The majority of my leads are people who I believe do not want to be contacted and just want to look. Of course I only want to pay for serious customers. I was once told by a rep that since they could not contact the customer my request for a credit was denied, yet if I cannot contact them then that is not a legitimate reason to not have to pay. Double standard?
They are not open on the weekend. They use their business hours for their part of the country for determining what normal business hours are for all their customers. If I close at 5 pm and my hours are off a few hours from theirs, they use theirs in determining if I should get leads sent to me. They offer the ability to turn off the lead flow if we are closed but I was told by a rep that it can take 48 hours once you turn them back on before they start to work again. Getting a lead way off normal bus hours such as 11pm makes me wonder what to do because the customers usually take the first pro who calls them. Do I wait until 8am? When ever I do I am told they already found someone and I get charged. Turning off leads to avoid this means waiting 48 hours for anymore leads.
They added another type of lead called an opportunity for work out side of your normal coverage area in addition to the normal lead flow and if you select one it is not always processed. I just did a few days ago because they state you do not have to pay unless the customer agrees to be contacted by me. I never heard anything from anyone.
My fees are the same regardless of which town I quote a price for, yet their fees vary because they claim they are based on what I can get for my service in that area. So if I am competitively priced (something we should all want) less than others that is a bad thing in their mind because I should charge more and get charged more by them.
My business is real-estate related and the people shopping for service only have 5 days to obtain my service and complete it. I do not have the luxury of being able to wait even several hours to contact the customer like when they are shopping for a floor.
As a customer do not go there just to look around, it costs people money. If you are serious don’t just take the first call because it will also prevent you from seeing if you really are getting a deal. As a pro, if you are time sensitive they will drive you nuts. I only keep my account with my leads turned off because I would hate to throw away all those 5 star reviews. I have customers who come to me stating they saw my reviews but never hired me through them which shows that people like to go there just to look. People will go and look at a lot of sites for info and it should not cost the pros money when they do.

"Home Advisor grossly misquoted a job I requested even when I called to double check the allotted time they allowed. I was assured that was enough time when in fact they were off by 2 hrs! The worker was kind enough to stay to finish but not all workers would have done so. So now I owe a lot more than was quoted. "
"I had a few minor repairs (toilet tank kit replacement, toilet seat, a showerhead 1 faucet and handle. I paid a preset price. The first person who came was able to do only 2 things correctly. Things were worse when he left. I complained and was rescheduled with a different person. He arrived 80 minutes late with his brother along to translate. I think they figured out what to do via You Tube! Still never got my money's worth."
"Do not hire Millers Cleaning ProsVery unprofessional, incomplete and their services, not worth the money."
"i got ten calls 9 of them you never get a hold of and when u request a credit they will give back maybe 2 out of the 9 Greedy useless

"I have used HA several times with NO bad experiences. Their companies answer my requests immediately, come out the next day when they say they would and complete the job in a timely and businesslike manner, Their prices are always reasonable. I could not recommend HA any higher than perfect. Deborah Huckins"
"I called Oak Plumbing for a garbage disposal disaster. A friend of mine told me about their technicians and how affordable their prices are. A young man named Andrew showed up at my house to see to the problem, and he tackled it like a pro! He was quick and efficient and very professional. He pinpointed the problem and fixed it. I was able to finish washing dishes with no further issues.
I'll be calling Oak plumbing for all my future plumbing needs!"
"Wow, what an experience. I wanted to find a company that I could use to generate leads for my solar company. After speaking with a sales rep from Home Adviser I thought that they might be able to help me. BOY, was I wrong! The sales rep made it sound so good but as I think back about his conversation I now realize that these people are experts at telling you what you want to hear. NOT the truth but what will get you to fork over a credit card! BEWARE! Once they get your credit card the only way to stop them from charging it is to cancel that card and get a new number AND tell the bank you don't want any Home Adviser charges put on it. I was lucky enough to fight all the charges they put on my card and have them reversed. Once you do that they will send your information to a collection agency. The good news is that Federal Law provides that once you dispute a bill the collection agency can no longer pursue you. If they do, and some will try, you can sue them for harassment. Read the Federal consumer credit act for more information and stay away from Home Adviser. They are terrible. I am actually following up with a letter to the state attorney generals office regarding my experience with them and their lies. They are bad news!"
"This service is a scam... they lied during signup and I got charged over $500 in leads that I didn't want. And they do not offer ANY refunds... only internal credits for future jobs.
Just cancelled my service after only 28 days... and it took over 45 minutes to cancel through 3 people trying to keep me there. I even need to change my credit card in order to stop the charges from recurring.
SCAM SCAM SCAM"
"I called Home Advisor a week ago and they finally got back to me literally a week later and this was about and heat issue on the East Coast it is shocking use a local company that's what I would advise"
"Had a plumbing back up in my renters apartment, got on line on a Saturday and Homeadviser found a plumber. He did work that was not necessary to up the bill. The Bottom line is he charged $700 to unclog the drain. Never again!
