"LIE: Sales rep claims they are receiving 700+ leads per year in my market and there are no other professionals in my area. REALITY: 1 to 2 leads per month
LIE: 80% of leads turn into jobs
REALITY: 10% of leads have turned into jobs
OTHER CONS: Of the VERY few leads I have received, most are "just looking" yet I have paid for these crappy leads. Leads in trailer parks (NOT the good ones - AKA - METHVILLE) where we refuse to do business for safety purposes and they will not refund. I have been charged for leads where the customer does not want to talk to anyone. You will spend 45 min to an hour on hold to speak with someone only to have an extremely frustrating experience attempting to be refunded for leads you cannot even contact. In general - you will spend $300 / year for the membership then for each lead. At the end of the year, it's a loss. Don't bother with HomeAdvisor. It is a BAD business decision I ultimately regret.

"If you work at homeadvisor or scammies list.....you, are, guilty!"
"Iwas with them for a year. I did make a small amount of profit, but the man hours I spent on the phone with them each week trying to get credits, the aggravation, and grief, more than offset the small profit. I was routinely charged for leads that did not even relate to my field of work. I would call in and speak to a rep weekly and they would agree with me that I should not have been sent the lead and should not be charged, but no credit given. I quit after the first year. Four months later they promised me the world to sign up again. In the following the weeks they sent me 11 leads, of which 9 were bad. Again no credit. I quit again. They turned me over for collections because I did not pay for the 11 leads. I will never join again.

"So I checked out Home Advisor over a year ago. Didn't lock down any work as I was going to look into reviews and other things about the company. As I looked I found terrible reviews and the local word of mouth has home advisor ranked as horrible, a rip off, and a scam.
I have called corporate and requested being taken off the call list and they said they did it. I have been continuously contacted but a sales rep named Larry hes stationed out of a whapeton office in north dakota. I have ignored all calls, emails, and messages to still be continuously called. I answer say nothing and end the call only to receive three or four more calls back to back like take the hint. Then after months of this calling game they played on march 6th of 2020, Larry called and I asked to stop contacting me and I hung up.
I was then sent two text messages immediately after ending the phone call basically guilt tripping me for not giving them any follow up calls with the claim from Larry "I thought your business was legit but guess not". I informed him I'll contact corporate and file a complaint since he cant be a professional and leave well enough alone. I told him my reputation is to valuable to myself then the work he could bring, especially when the local word of mouth is poor. He began telling me I was wrong and thg at their reviews were flawless. LIES LIES LIES AND A SCAM CONTACTORS BEWARE.
I simply told him I'm not interested in damaging my reputation and that the complaint against him has been filed for harassing me after requesting to be not contacted further. I have shared post to my business page to steer other clear of this mess in my area! I hope others across the country follow suit. "
"I am not affiliated in anyway with Home Advisor and never would be. Earlier today I was contacted by a sales rep from Home Advisor with a long text message stating a discount to sign up, however the idiot that did so, included me in a group message to over 25 other people. That started a bombardment of responses to all 25 fro each other to get the messages to stop. I called the main number for Home Advisor and they didn't seem to care and acted as though it was normal. Just a few minutes ago, I got another message from the same salesman texteig to call him. This set off another round of responses from about 25 recipients of the same message. I think this is an attempt to get back at companies that have said STOP or requested they do not contact us anymore. The person responsible for this outrage and aggravation should be fired. They have been bugging me for over two years non stop after repeated requests to STOP. Stay away from these idiots."
"Home Advisor is a scam. They just send any lead that you don’t want to and charge you for the hell of you. DO NOT SIGN UP ANYTHING WITH HOME ADVISOR. It’s a scam. "
"Been with them 7 yrs.
Most leads are bogus but some are good.
At $80.00 per lead that's not okay.
They admit that many leads are bogus but you have to weigh that in with the leads that are good.
Seriously? I spent THOUSANDS with them and not they want to start charging me monthly plus lead fees?
Never got my last bill of $4.00 until I got an email saying they sent it to collections!!!!! Four dollars!!!
Go to pay collections online with the file number provided and they say file number is not found
I am so sick and tired of these unethical companies, people, etc. I would never recommend Home Advisor to anyone"
"They charge you crazy fees and the leads are garbage. "
"Are company attempted to try home advisor, we payed over $4,000 for nothing. We requested Home Advisor to stop charging/sending us leads. They continued to charge us even after we stated we no longer requested their services. The worst part is we took our card off of the account and they still continued to charge us ! Worst Lead Generator possible spoke to 2 people within the $4000 spent and neither of them were a good lead. thanks for nothing home advisor! "
"We scheduled a contractor today to give us an estimate on a kitchen remodel. They were supposed to be here between 1:00-2:00. After waiting until 2:15, I called Home Advisor. They said the scheduler wasn't in that day, but they would try to get someone out. 30 minutes later I got a call that someone was one the way. 30 minutes later I got a call that he had come by and a man answered the door. It wasn't out house because we had been in the living room for 2 hours waiting. Apparently he went to the wrong house. I was told the scheduler was out and they didn't have the address they were supposed to go to. Asked to reschedule and I said no, I will find another contractor! Don't recommend using Home Advisor at all! "
"I needed a specific wall repair done to install new blinds in my living room. By the time all was said and done, those walls were not done, but I had a new bedroom being done. While I love the end product, all I kept hearing was we will need to charge you more for.....needless to say the beginning price was a joke compared to what the end price became. We were ok with it because we knew that we could lower our "expectations", their word not mine and go a bit cheaper on the smaller room. They said that they would be charging us $25-$75 per nail pop to be fixed. That is a BIG difference in price especially since all of the nails taken out were the same size. Why would there be such a huge price difference. Also they are NOT a contracts company. They do not remove all waste, They do NOT pull permits for working on electrical work, maybe because they are NOT electricians, but still charge you the same price as an electrician does, then they do NOT finish up what they promise to finish because it was too late by the time they left. My electrical work is still left to be done, but I really do not wish for them to come back in our home. They removed a panel in my basement that needs to be reinstalled because they were Positive they had us hooked and that they would be the only 1 we could hire to get that job done. They dinged our existing walls which look awful, I had to clean up every time they ate in my home. Food and napkins fell and were left where they fell until I cleaned it up. Be VERY careful when hiring this company. Look over your "contract extremely close and question what they are and are not doing. Be VERY specific because if you fail to do any of this, you will need a tourniquet to stop all of the hemorrhaging. No professional invoices. They keep changing things around on the invoice when you make a payment to them which starts to be confusing unless you are watching them like a hawk. If this has not warned you enough to be careful, I wish you the best of luck. "
"They charged my fiancé’s card $300 after having one phone call with them. Will NEVER use again. And repeatedly called him throughout the day. They can **** a ****. "
"I've been with them for almost 2 years. I can say some leads are good ones but maybe you'll get 3/10 which for my business honestly is not worth it. However, I keep my profile open and I can still get leads but only from people that specifically click on my profile.
They also keep raising the price and leads are about e
30% more expensive now that 2 years ago and the quality of leads keeps declining on top of them selling the same lead to 5 other people. The ones that you might have a better chance are the leads that choose you from the directory. Which they are charging almost $40 for a service of 100-150.
Overall not worh the money I will canceled since I have found other competitor that is cheaper and with better terms."
"As a member for 2 years I can say you will get work. However to get work your going to get a lot of no response leads. They pretend to care but they won't refund hardly any leads. Hard to make money with them. They win I quit working with them."
"Don't hire using their prepaid service. They just post the job out and anyone can grab it if the 'say' they can do the job. Five different contractors for a simple carpet stretching job. All had to back out and all 5 admitted they didn't have the tools and/or skillset to do the job. They don't vet the pros at all so don't believe you're getting a validated professional. You're getting a handyman that may or may not have any of the skills needed for the job."
