"very very dispointed from my purchase.
I ordered a refurbished HP - Comapq laptop keyboard. I got the keyboard with the following problems.
1- the space key is not working
2- it was supposed to be a u.s version but they print on the keyboard is not english
3- the labels are uncorrect , on the keyborad you are looking for a "[" but you can't find the key !!!
they charged me 10 $ for shipping and another 10$ for returning it and some extra money for restocking ... .
It was supposed to take me 3-5 days to have the keyboard and I got it after 12 days..

don't waste your time and money with these guys...

"Needed a cooling unit for an older Toshiba laptop. The first outfit I tried was out of stock. Impact, unlike the first site, even had pictures of the unit. I called them to make sure they had it in stock. They assured me that, even though the model number was different, it would be the right part or they would refund the money. They were right, the part fit perfectly. They even saved us money on shipping since we were going to have it sent next-day, but what with the Labor Day holiday and their proximity to us, it wasn't necessary. I had a very good experience with this outfit, and it's nice to know they're around the next time I need some odd laptop part."

"I ordered a new motherboard for a laptop computer and received a used defective board. I paid a total of $527.66. The external monitor port did not work. I returned the board for replacement as per their instructions. Impact refused to send me a replacement and charged me a $156.41 restocking fee. Plus it cost me $10.07 to ship it back and insure it. I asked them to send me the board I sent them and that I would deal with it in another way. No response. Impact did not test that external port.
I have all of the emails and paperwork proving my point.

I am out $10.07 for shipping and insuring the motherboard back to them. They charged me $32.66 to ship the board to me. That is overcharging me 22.59 for shipping. Plus $156.41 they kept as a restocking fee. Plus $31.34 more to get another motherboard from Dell. $197.82 is the total.

Since they still have their so called good board and I don't need it because I got one that works from Dell. I want The 156.41 restocking fee, plus my 10.07 I paid for shipping it back. Plus the 22.59 they over charged me for shipping. $189.07 is the total.

"Based on my experience and other reviews I have read, it is apparently a common business practice for Impact Computers to intentionally ship cheaper, generic, inferior products that are 'compatible' with what you ordered to increase their bottom line.

I ordered an OEM 7200rpm Toshiba hard drive kit for my Toshiba laptop. Impact Computers decided to instead send me a generic 4200rpm drive (no kit). This was a careful substitution, not a mistake -- on the printed invoice they crossed off the part number I ordered and wrote the other one in. The invoice notes 'this part is a 100% compatible with the one that you ordered.'

Impact Computers never answered their support extension when I called but occasionally answered the sales line. When calling for support you will likely wait on hold for about 5 minutes until being greeted by a recording asking you to leave a message so your call can be returned within 48 hours.

Impact's return policy specifies a restocking fee of 15% for unopened items and 25% for opened items. There is no provision for whether it was their fault or not.

Update 4/20/05 - Three weeks after receiving the returned product, Impact has refunded the charges in full.

"I ordered part number Y0708 Radeon 9000 for a dell laptop 5150. They shipped 5U104, the 7500 Radeon Dell card for the 5100. I called customer service and they said it was the same thing. I am having to deal with RMA next. Will update when issue is resolved. So much for getting it for the holidays. Now I will have to deal with mail tag.

Updated: After getting in contact with Fabian I was treated very well and was able to return the item and they paid shipping. Very helpful after their mistake. So I am upgrading rating.

"Absolute disaster!

Their web site lists to have 256MB memory for Sony PCG-C1VJ. I ordered the part and was send WRONG item. Emailed the support team and were given a big run around. They want me to ship the item back under my own expense for a refund.

Why should a customer pay anything at all for error done by the merchant? I can not see any logic in that.

I will get my credit card company to chargeback.

I am not purchasing a memory module to try on my computer. I am purchasing the correct module as per description by you. You are sending me the wrong item. The mistake is yours. "I'm resorting to this web page to see if there is any hope. I ordered a part on the 9th of Nov; I still have not received as of 17th Nov. I go to the tracking order link from the web site and it does not even have a shipped date yet. I call the customer service, too busy, an answering device asks that I leave a message and will receive an answer 24-48 hrs. I try my luck with the sales department and I'm put on hold for 12 minutes (That's all I could stand of the rock and roll station). Customers are what keeps the business running if there not taken care of they will do business elsewhere. At this time I don't have a clue if this company even exists! Update: I finally got a hold of someone in the sales department, customer service never responded, to let me know item is backordered, estimated shipping a week and 1/2. Update 11/29: after a week and 1/2 nothing, I finally get a hold of someone thru email, a true miracle, just to find out the item is still on backorder with no estimated time arrival. I just cancelled my order. The worst experience I've had, mainly b/c there are no expectations from this company. Will never do business again with this vendor, I rather build the part myself, be a lot faster. This is a bad vendor in my book, if your blood pressure is too low try ordering something from this vendor, if your blood pressure is high don't go here!!"

"I have real problems with a store that doesn't have parts they say they carry but charge your credit card anyway. They also wouldn't answer the customer service line but did answer sales first ring. hmmm!!! The only positives were they did credit the card and were nice on the phone. UPDATE: Company called back and explained the problems were related to the hurricains causing water damage to inventory. They offered a new battery shipped in at a reduced rate. OVERALL: I ended up being impressed with the company."

"I purchased a hard drive for a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop and had it overnighted to my address because I was in the process of moving to another state. The order was not shipped on time and did not arrive until 5 days later because the wrong address was put on the package. I had the package overnighted to my new address only to discover the part they had advertised as working in a Dell Inspiron 8000 did not in fact fit in my laptop and was not designed for it. I have been trying to contact them for 3 days now and have not been able to get in touch with them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!"

"I bought a replacement hard drive from impactcomputers.com that worked for two or three days but then malfunctioned. I didn't contact them for a few weeks because I couldn't find my proof of purchase or order number. Finally I did locate it and asked if I could exchange the defective product, but they would not return my emails (I sent a total of three). I understand if it was too late to make an exchange, but if they are selling defective products the least they can do is return emails. Very low class business practices. Avoid them."
