"Let me start by saying that I am a middle aged female, definitely not a Technical type person....but a lot of common sense and need to save money(single mom)....I needed a fan for my IBM thinkpad T40...after exhausting local resources, I found the original part # at Impact...2 other sites wanted to give me a compatible fan which IBM says wouldn't work....I got a fair price, shipped overnight and thermal pad instead of heat sink paste( recommended by my sales person....as it is not as messy. The order arrived as promised, prior to noon, and in seemingly good condition. I had questions as to how to apply the thermal pad to the CPU ....called and was guided through the process. I am happy to report that it is now 1:00pm est and I am writing this review on my properly functioning, whisper- quiet IBM thinkpad T40. I am so glad that I found this site ...they were professional, well-priced and helpful. What a great feeling of empowerment to have fixed this laptop with their help for 92.85 including shipping!!!! IBM MSRP on the fan alone was over $120.00 Let's hope I don't need any more parts , but if I do...I would not only call them again, I would call them FIRST!"

"The hard disk I ordered wasn't delivered. When asking why the disk wasn't delivered yet, many times I got vague answers, like USPS takes 45 business days to deliver the package, and after this term a lost package claim would by filed.
Instead of a lost package claim, they restocked the disk and treated me with a restocking fee and a non-refund of the shiping cost.
The restocking wasn't correct while Impact Computers did have the correct adress data.
Apparently USPS wasn't able to process the delivery, but I wasn't contacted by Impact Computers to sort out the source of the problem.

So dear reader of this comment, please beware: Impact Computers has a cleaver way to earn money regarding orders placed by foreigners. They do not contact you in the situation that a shipment can't be hanled bij USPS and they keep the restocking fee and the shipment cost to themselves. I provided them the correct adress details, hence, they do not refund the restocking fee.
I have a negative experience regarding the communication with Impact Computers. First: they aren't able to indicate what the problem is when a shipment can't be processed by USPS. Second: they do not respond to an official complaint.
My advice: in case you live outside the US, please avoid ordering at Impact Computers, because they aren't able to process your order in a correct way.

"I payed them $364.00 for this order by paypal but after 2 months I have received nothing from them.
Taking a look at the order status on their web pages I discovered that my order was canceled. I do not know why this occurred neither why they did not prompt
advised me. I tried to contact them by email many time but I have no reply until now (two mount after I place that order). I decided to proceed against them by law in order to have my money back. The seller at the end decided to refund me.
I was forced to be a bit rude with their but I hope this will not damage their business to much.

"Well I took a chance and ordered a heatsink and fan assembly for a laptop from these guys even after reading some of the reviews here, didn't really have a choice as no one else was selling it. I received a bashed up highly used unit. Even one of the heatpipes was nearly pinched in half. They told me it was a factory refurbished model. That is a bold faced lie. The unit is obviously very used. I don't think I will ever buy anything from this vendor again unless I absolutely had to."

"First, the positive:
- Great selection, good prices, and fast shipping.

Then the negative:
- If they send you the wrong item, *you* must pay for the error.

Impact computers has a policy (clearly stated on their site) that all returns will have to pay a restocking fee of 15% or $15, whichever is greater.

That's *all* returns. Even if it's their fault. For example, I ordered a port cover, which is found here on their site:

They sent me something entirely different:

(Full disclosure: the other two items I ordered were sent correctly.)

I could pay for shipping back to them, and pay the $15 restocking fee, and then they might sent me the right $10 part. Or they might not. Really, with this policy in place, they have little incentive to send the correct item.

I'm disappointed, but I saw the policy before I ordered, and it didn't occur to me how it could be abused. Now I have no recourse.

I would urge other shoppers to consider the implications of this policy before placing an order.

"Purchased a replacement Compaq motherboard on 7/10/07. Received the motherboard on 7/17/07. Installed the motherboard on or about 7/20/07. Dead video or board. Called customer service and was told that I could not receive a replacement board because I could not locate the model number of the Presario (my Aunt's PC, she had picked it up earlier). I assured customer service that the board I received was the same make and model mobo that I replaced. She still refused to ship a replacement and told me that she would send an email with an RMA number and instructions to return the board. I never received the email.
Called back and again was told that an email would be sent. Still no email. I have called a total of 6 times, each time promising an email and have yet to receive one. I have also emailed about the situation. This all took place over a week and a half.
I received a voice mail to contact Mark at ext.122. I was told that I needed to give them a fax number to receive the form because they were, for some reason, having trouble emailing it to me, although my email is working fine and I received confirmation emails from Impact Computers when I ordered the board. I gave him a fax number that I have access to and am now waiting. I will update if and when this is RMA problem is resolved.
As of now, I'm worried that I will never receive any RMA# and if I do, I will be stuck with all shipping charges and an unheard of 25% restocking fee, judging from the comments on this site. This is not the best experience I have had ordering from an online vendor.

Be careful ordering from this vendor. They have pretty good pricing and plenty of difficult-to-find products, but negative ratings from this many people must mean that something is not quite right.

Update: Finally received the RMA# via fax. Shipped product back on 8/1/07. It is now 8/15/07 and I have not received credit nor heard back from Impact Computer. Time to call the lawyer?

"They pulled a bait and switch on me! I ordered a specific IBM power supply. As it turns out, they didn't have the item, but instead of just cancelling the order they went ahead and shipped something else (different brand, different specs)WITHOUT SEEKING MY AUTHORIZATION. They even noted the substitution on waybill. Of course this is a clear case of fraud since they were only authorized to charge my card towards the purchase of the item I actually ordered. To their credit, they took the item back, but then refused to refund my $35.00 shipping even though they shipped something I never ordered in the first place. It seems they have a policy of not refunding shipping even in the case of bait and switch. Buyer Beware!"
