"They will sell you something they don't have. They also make charges to preauthorize they same way scammers do to see if they can get away with using your card, That locked my account until I called my bank. Now they've charged my account again after shipping an item I told them I didn't want.
On the day of purchase I got the email saying the item wouldn't ship for weeks (because they didn't have it). So, I called to cancel. Nope. They put me on hold forever and then said they don't cancel orders. You have to wait until it arrives and then return it in the store. I tried to get a supervisor. They just hung up without speaking. I was polite to the person I talked to and never actually had a chance to say a word to the supervisor.
So, you'll get your email filled with spam from them and an endless number of whoever they sold your email to. You will get zero support because their customer service scheme is only set up to take orders. Apparently supervisors can just hang up. They will charge you without your permission at a later date. I don't know how this isn't illegal."
"I ordered a clothing item from JC Penney online - the item was not as described on the website. To my surprise there wasn't anything in the package that spoke about returns except the shipping invoice, and a notation to call customer care if you want to return. There aren't any JCPenney stores within 50 miles of my home.
After calling, I found out that JCPenney does not pay for return shipping or even provide a return shipping label. I have to write everything down and include it with the package - pay for postage to return it and will not be refunded the cost of returning the item or the shipping to receive the item.
I will never buy anything from JCPenney again.

"Honestly SO FURIOUS. Worst customer service ever. I bought 2 pair of earrings a few MONTH ago and decided to return one via mail. WORST DECISION EVER. 1st, the packaging slip told me to send my item back to NY, which I did ( I assumed the NY address was for verification in case they think im sending back a fake one). I then contacted customer service NUMEROUS times to see updates on my return/package. 2nd, They kept insisting that their packaging slip said to send it to OH, which it didn't. I'm not blind, I know the address told me to send it back to NY, I'm not going to pull a NY address out of no where. Customer service started 2-3 cases for me, WHICH HAS DONE NOTHING, STILL NO UPDATES. I contacted them via online chat twice, the first one he created a case for me and said nothing needed to be done, I just needed to wait 3 weeks. 4 weeks AFTER i contact them again and the customer service agent said the case was closed and everything should be all set. A FEW WEEKS LATER, i emailed them asking for updates and they said they stil haven't received my return and they'll start another case for me, which I have not heard back from. I regret buying from JC PENNY and will tell all my friends and family to cancel their JC PENNY cards and never shop here again. Literally WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. MONTHS LATER STILL NO REFUND, MISSING PACKAGE, AND HAVE NOT HEARD FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE. Work on your customer service and RETURNS PLEASE. "Only reason I give 2 stars is because if the item I bought but it's a Levi's jacket which happened to be sold through this company. I noticed the price drop after I purchased it. I thought like other stores I've had experience with that they would honor the discount since it was just a few days I had ordered. My order was still in process. I called the toll free number and it seemed like the employee made excuses. I've had much better customer service and a more professional interaction with stores like REI. I sent a review and that was denied. I realize why this company is closing many stores. I definitely dont recommend purchasing online with JC Penny's. "
"I purchased bed room furniture on line. When the delivery company called to set up a delivery date, I was told the foot board and the chest was damaged and they would need to send it back. I called JCPenney and they had to process a return on my credit card and then reorder, in this day and time this seems so ancient to me. When I received the email the customer service person had ordered the wrong bed. When I called back they had to process a refund and take my credit card information again.
I received an email that the furniture had been delivered. I waited until January 2nd to call to see when it would be delivered to find out that it had been in Greensboro since December 24th and no one had reached out to set up a delivery date. The night before the delivery the delivery company called to say the chest was damaged again, but they could still bring the bed. I asked about assembly of the bed and there was no order for it.
Delivery was set for Wednesday January 15th. When they came to deliver I was on the phone with JCPenney to find out about the chest and bed assembly.
I asked for a manager and talked with Chelsey. She said that they should have assembled the bed and the delivery company would reach back out to me that day to set it up. Today is January 29th and they still have not called about setting it up. She was going to check and see what was wrong with the chest and get back with me to let me know what my options were.
I spoke with Bonnie on 1/16 and 1/18. She was to call be back after my call on 1/18. She still has not called me back.
on 1/20 I called asked for a manager and was transfered to Markise. We were disconnected and she did not bother to call me back. When I called back I got Latoya, at 10:30 am she said she would call me back in about an hour. Today is 1/29 and she still has not called me back.
I called back on January 23rd to find out that they did a refund and no one had called me back. I can't remember who I spoke with but all I want is the final piece to my set. There's been two days of delivery so far which means missed work and all they were willing to do for my trouble was give a $49.00 discount and again they had to take my credit card information.
I've learned a valuable lesson about ordering furniture on line through JCPenny, don't.
Although some of the staff were nice, the whole process has been frustrating and I still don't have the whole set.

"The employee was amazing. She offered great help and I had a lot of fun shopping there. The items were also well priced and so far, I had no problems with them. I saw the other reviews on JCPenney, but if you go the actual store, it won't disappoint you. I was amazed with their large variety of items as well as the low prices they were offered at. A watch I had bought there looks way more expensive than the 24 dollars I payed for it, and there was watches with diamonds in them offered at 30 dollars. If I ever need something else, I will definitely go there again."
" I received the wrong item in my order. The only way to contact anyone was via phone call. No options were given for online returns. I was told that I would need to physically return the item to the store myself for store credit and then find the item in the store that I didn't get and re-buy it. Alternately I could wait for them to mail me a return label, ship it and package it myself, wait for the return to reach them to receive credit and then re-purchase the correct item again myself.

"I ordered Mattress and Box Spring online everything went well until the day of delivery. The delivery company (Ryder) told me, they can't get my queen size box spring up the steps, that I'd have to order a split. (First, I'd like to say they were just LAZY! I originally have a Full Queen box spring.) Then they wouldn't leave the mattress, as I was told it has to be delivered as a set, since that's how it was sold.
Okay, fine, I called JCPenney, ordered a Split box spring. They already refunded me for the original Box spring. Had to call JCP back the 2nd time, for them to approve the re-delivery of the mattress. Called back 2 days later was told it was approved for re-delivery and probably wouldn't be re-delivered until my split box springs were delivered. Again not the happiest but fine, willing to wait! Already waited 3 weeks.
I get a email last week scheduling my box springs. I thought yay, finally! Well nope more of a nightmare, I check today the 23rd, and seen the mattress was fully refunded to me on the 17th. I had to call and not only speak to 1 person spoke to 3 people, including a manager. All of which couldn't explain why it was cancelled when in the notes it stated I was still accepting the Mattress. But now, i'd have to reorder and wait another 3-4 weeks for delivery, well at this point, I'm done, keep your stuff, cancel the box spring order as well.
The manager told me, it was my fault I didn't keep the mattress, I said I was told by your delivery company (Ryder), that they can't leave just 1 piece cause the entire order wasn't being delivered. That's why I called and put in a claim for re-delivery, and at that time, that CSR told me that the delivery company was correct. Now you are telling me, that I could have kept the mattress and my fault I didn't when I tried to but I was told no from the delivery company. Either way, JCP and the delivery company they have hired need to get it all together.
Even a order I received on Saturday, last minute Christmas gifts, I had to call JCP cause I also received other peoples merchandise inside of my package, and to let them know about it.
At this point I am done with JCP."

"I like JCP products, prices, and promos. However, I've done 4 online orders within the last 2 months and every one of them took almost 2 weeks to get to me. This has nothing to do with the shipping carrier, it's how JCP handles the orders and preparation for shipment. On all 4 orders it was at least 7 days from the date I ordered until the items were actually shipped. Sorry, but in this day and age that is WAY too long. Get it together JCP."
