"After reading the reviews for KC Computers and NOT finding any bad reviews, I placed an order for a new computer with them. This is the third custom-built computer I have bought and I have to say that only KC offered their opinion as to the parts I had selected. Their opinion saved me some money as the DVD burner I selected was more expensive than the burner they suggested. I guess I spent a week emailing the KC rep, deciding on the parts I wanted and asking if they could obtain parts which were not listed on their website. Since I paid cash (check), they gave me a little discount. There was a slight holdup because the case I wanted was difficult to locate and when they did find the case, it cost $20 more and KC ate the difference, which I thought was a nice touch. They built the machine and configured the two SATA RAID arrays and loaded the software for no charge. Then they tested the system and shipped it out last Friday. I should be getting my hands on the shipment next Thursday. Hopefully I can add to this review after I have examined the merchandise, because I want to give a complete review of KC Computers.
Received the computer as scheduled and everything worked! I sent Kevein a few emails asking some questions about cables and ports on the rear of the machine. I peeked inside the machine and Kevin did a fine job....everything was neatly cabled. I chose a mid-tower and have 4 SATA drives plus two optical drives and a floppy, so it is pretty cramped....but neat. Buy from these folks.....they will treat you right!!

Addendum 3/14/2005. The computer is working flawlessly and Kevin has answered all my questions. He has even been helping me with some technical questions not related to the computer he sold me. This fellow has been building computers for people since 1991 and treats each build as if he is building it for himself. I now understand why KC Computers has ZERO dis-satisfied reviews.....he does things right and treats his customers like he would want to be treated. I will buy from KC Computers again. My next purchase will probably be a wide-screen LCD."

"I bought a computer from KC just over 3 years ago, and was pleased at the time.
Last week I managed to erase the BIOS on the motherboard while attempting an upgrade. (Oops!)
I e-mailed KC at 8pm asking for advice. He replied within 20 minutes, and through a series of e-mails walked me through how to attempt to restore the BIOS. No luck- I had done a good job of killing the board.
Who ever heard of tech support at 8pm, 3 years after the sale?

"Second time I've purchased (first time I've rated) - KC's response time for questions has always been very quick (same day), and responses have been thorough and very helpful. I needed to go faster for a computer game, and while KC could have sold me a faster processor and video card, Kevin told me all I really needed was the video card, then helped me select one that was plenty fast, and would be compatible with the rest of my system. "This is without a doubt one of the finest PC dealers I have ever encountered and I only have positive things to say about them. I had a system built with all the components I wanted. My system was for my home use and I dealt with the owner Kevin Chalker. Kevin thoroughly answered all my questions , emailed, quickly and usually within 24 hours but most of them were within a few hours, even on the weekends (!?). Now that truly impressed me and I appreciate the speed my questions were answered. My system was configured exactly the way I wanted it and they did a great job of wiring the components inside the case. The system works fine, I’ve had no problems at all with and am thoroughly satisfied with KC computers. They are not the least expensive dealer out there but they are not overly expensive either. My system wasn’t too far from my budget and having all the components assembled and tested was worth it. If you are too busy to assemble and test your own box, then this is the dealer for you.

I cannot commend on technical support services because I haven’t required it.

"This is my second system I bought from KC Computers, a customized high-end multi-media machine, primarily used by my children to play games.

The computer worked flawlessly for a few months, until some stability problems developed. Kevin and I exchanged multiple emails, but I was unable to resolve the problem on my own and ended up returning the system for repair.

It turned out that there was both a problem with a power plug that connects to the motherboard, as well as with a virus infection (I had an anti-virus program installed, but never ran a full system scan).

The system again works perfectly, and my kids couldn’t be happier.
