"I ordered a Nikon EN-EL14 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery that showed in stock when I ordered. A couple of hours later, I received a call from CS telling me that the battery was back-ordered for six weeks and they would give me an even better, albeit off-brand, battery for a higher price. When I balked, she offered to lower the price to what the Nikon battery was listed for on their site. I told them no thanks and cancelled the order. I'm glad that I did because I found this site after the fact and was almost the subject of a bait and switch scam."
"I guess I'm right there with you folks scammed by mellodigital!Ordered a battery charger they said was in stock got the phone call said back ordered 4-6 wks. but had a better compatable charger for $5 more.I took the bait and said OK when they tried to take out the money from my bank account my bank stopped the transaction suspecting fraud.I told the bank it was OK (like a fool)because the new withdrawal was justified because of the price change. But the real kicker is that when I filled out the shipping info my house # was different. I called customer service and they said I gave them the wrong house # and told me to alert my neighbor and get the package from them. How is this company still in business. The banks know there scam artists why not the better business people. They deserve a negative 5 star rating!!!"
"Total scam/bite and switch, very attractive price but next day got call from customer service that item is on back order but they can offer something else. I cancelled the order."
"I was looking for a USED Nikon SB-600 Speedlight. Mellodigital.com came up in a google search for it, and at their site they advertise it as new and in stock. After a phone call, they said I should order today because they just got it back in stock after being on back order for a month, and it may sell out fast. Hmmm. Nikon stopped making the SB-600 in 2010 (which is why I was looking for a used one, though I thought maybe they had one or two left over), so obviously they haven't shipped any in almost 2 years, nor will they ever. The sales rep then (after I gently suggested they must have the model number wrong) tried to sell me another off-brand flash at a ridiculous price that changed twice, then said "please hold for the supervisor" and 10 seconds later I was disconnected. STAY AWAY from Mellodigital! I think they may be offshore, also, which makes legal action and credit card charge backs difficult. There is no information on their physical location anywhere on the Mellodigital site. There is not a single positive or neutral review here, or on any other ratings site I could find. Don't get suckered by prices that are more than 15% less than the norm for other sellers, they are almost always a bait-and-switch scam like Mellodigital."
"Well, I supposed "welcome to the club" should be my review title.
Ordered a Canon NB-6L online while we were on vacay. Did not receive a confirm Email so got suspicious. Reported to my CC company but nothing they can do. Received a call from a woman in Customer service basically telling me they didn't have the battery in stock (although their website says so!) and I couldn't cancel my order because they already sent me their "high capacity replacement" instead. Their replacement is a Bower NB-6L replacement. Not a bad battery but you can buy them everywhere for $8.99 and these bait and switch thieves at Mello charged me 22.89 for the same battery!
I sent them a nasty email to their sales department, outlining their bait and switch tactics plus saying just refund me the difference between the $8.99 and $22.89 and I would be happy with the purchase and not bad mouth them on the Internet. However, no-one replied and so they obviously don't give a damn!

"A total scam company. Do NOT buy anything from these scam artists!
I should have read these reviews FIRST!
I joined the club of numerous individuals who experienced the bait and switch that this despicable company uses. I ordered a brand name battery for my camera and shortly after ordering I got an email saying that the battery was out of stock but they would send me 'better' battery by a third-party vendor at a significantly higher price.
When I said it sounded like 'bait-and-switch' they then offered it to me at the same price. So I agreed on the generic battery.
When I received the battery it would not work and MelloDigital cannot be reached to offer a refund or replace it."
"I joined the club of people scammed by this shady company. Even those who gave high reviews experienced the same bait and switch, but at least they were satisfied with the switch.
We ordered a flash for our camera. Shortly after, we received an email saying that it was not in stock, but that they would send out a comparable (even better) alternate flash. We called them up and let them know that we did not want this other flash--it takes 6 seconds to recalibrate between pictures! Of course this product had instantly shipped and could not be stopped. They told us that we could try the new flash and return it if we still didn't want it. Well, we didn't want it. To make a very long story a little shorter--I could never get answers or an address. They gave me the runaround, said they would "check their notes and get back to me." They never did. Unless you are ready to receive and keep a product different than what you order, STAY AWAY from Mellodigital!"
"Advertise great prices for instock merchandise, then when you order it they call to tell you the manufacturer has a national backorder of the product you ordered, but they have a better off brand that they will send you for the same price. My experience was with a Nikon EN-EL3e battery, I should have known they were 50% cheeper than anyother merchant for the name brand and 50% higher for the generic brand."
"Very similar to what every one else is saying..... I ordered a "name brand" batterie that the site claimed was in stock, shortly after placing the order I received a call claiming the item wasn't available but, they had a much better 3rd party battery they could send me right away!
The other interesting thing is, I can not locate an address for this business anywhere on their web site????
mmmmm?

"Please please please don't purchase anything from mellodigital-they just run scams. I ordered a SB600 flash for Nikon camera which was "available and in stock". As soon as I ordered the flash i received a phone call from mellodigital informing me that the flash wasn't in stock and it was on back order. Then they were trying to convince me to buy another flash "for the same price you can get a better flash". My initial order was processed April 30, 2012 and it's now July 17th 2012 and guess what-- I still don't have the flash!!!! I called a few minutes ago and they fed me the same line without any shock or concern. Im going to call the better business folks to have them investigated."
"Their entire business model is bait and swtich. They advertise unreal low prices for products that their web site reports as "in stock". once you place an order, they call to tell you your product is on backorder, but they offer to sell you a cheap off-brand replacement for twice the price. When they called me to try the bait and switch I could smell their fraud from a mile away and asked to cancel the order. Wouldn't surprise me if they charged my card anyway. STAY AWAY!!"
"MelloDigital is engaged in fraud. I ordered a NB-11L battery for my Canon camera from them. They called back the next day and said that there was a 4-week back order. They convinced me to buy a substitute battery that they said was $64.99 retail that they would sell me for $49.99. I agreed but looked up the battery online and found them for under $10. I called back and they insisted that the battery they were selling me was a much better battery that those sold for low prices. I relented. Today, I received the battery for a total of $57.98 including shipping. I looked up the battery nomenclature and found several reliable resellers selling the battery for $8.95. Mello lied about the battery they were shipping. State attorney generals should go after this company. They are perpetrating fraud."
"Bait and switch for sure. I ordered a battery for my camera on-line. The next day they called saying it was out of stock and would be backordered indefinitely, but they did have a more expensive off-brand battery that would work. I opted to cancel the order, and the gal offered the substitute battery at a lower price. When I said to go ahead and order, she said there was a problem running my American Express card through and asked for a Visa or MC. It was time to cancel and never go back."

" Ordered a Nikon SB-900 Flash and charged to American Express on 05/05/2012.
I received an e-mail stating that the order would be reviewed and after review I should receive the item in 5-7 days. There was a link in the e-mail to track my order.
After two weeks with no communication and no flash I went back and clicked on the link in the e-mail to check the status of my order. Surprise! The link was a dead link!
So I went to their web site and clicked on their "Order Status" button. The order status was listed as "refunded".
By this time my spider senses were tingling. I went on line and pulled up my American Express account and Surprise #2--the amount of my charge had not been credited!!
I then called American Express and after discussing the amount with a very courteous and efficient account representative the charge was removed.
I have ordered countless items on line and purchased over 360 items from eBay (100% positive rating) in the last ten years and have never encountered such a FLAGRANT SCAM.
I have to give at least one star for this rating to be published on line. My real personal rating is "Consigned to the Deepest Pit of Hades." This is for the dubious distinction of advertising an item not in stock, charging credit card before shipment, dead link to check order status on order confirmation e-mail, no communication, lying about the "Refunded" status of my charge when I went to the company site to check on the order, and of course no item received. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! "
