"These people are crooks. I ordered a Nikon lens at what was with hindsight too good a price to believe. I received an email that the order was being reviewed. The next email said the order was backordered and would take 3-5 weeks. The next email said their vendors could not keep up with demand and they had credited my card. However if the credit should not show up, I should contact the card company. Needless to say, I am still pursuing my credit (including expedited delivery charge.) STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCUM."
"I placed an order for a Canon Speedlite 430EX II flash and had them call the next day trying to switch me to the more expensive 580EX II. Classic bait-and-switch tactic. I cancelled immediately."
"I placed an order for a Nikon EN-EL3e Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery. I received a call that there was a problem with my order. That would be the first red flag. When I got "Lisa" on the phone, she said that the battery was on back-order and would I be happy with a higher-capacity non-Nikon replacement. I said not I would not. Had to listen to convincing arguments why I should. Finally, she said I'll call our 'other store in New York' to see if they have the Nikon. So that conversation was the second red flag.
I informed her to please cancel my order and at this point she hung up on me! WOW! I called back and spoke to another individual, and he proceeded to do the same spiel! I had him email me proof that the order was cancelled but I'm a bit leery of them having my CC number! I knew that the low price was too good to be true. Next time, I'll stick with Amazon, B&H, Adorma or NewEgg!!"
"Another victim of the same story. I ordered a battery for a Panasonic camera. They called me the next day and said it was out of stock, but they had a better battery made from a third party with an even larger capacity for the same price.
They shipped something - I don't know what, and once it hit my city, they intercepted the shipment and sent it back to them. They signed the package as "fraud."
I've asked them to refund my money, otherwise I'll just dispute it with my CC company.
Coincidentally or not, my credit card number was stolen around the same time. I honestly don't know if it's related, but it seems very likely that it was them that stole it looking back on it now."
"Same Story. Ordered a Canon 580 EX II. Rcvd a call...saysing back ordered...and tried to see a way inferior Flash ...saying it was better. LOL.
This is the same as Buyhere Photo. Same story.
fact is...their price was only $20.00 less than B&H Photo...a quality and reliable source. I cancelled and placed an order with B&H. A real bait and Switch outfit !! Avoid them !!!!!"
"Hello, I just recently purchased a Flash from you company and had spoke to Steven on the phone. I would like to say that Stevens service and support were very helpful. He was able to answer any questions or concerns I had very thoroughly. It was very nice to hear someone with good customer service skills. I myself work in customer service for the company I work for and sincerely appreciate the service Steven provided me. Good customer service is hard to come by these days, but with the service Steven provided me. I look forward to purchasing from your company in the future. Thank you for you time. "
"OH MY GOSH!!! Same exact story on a Canon flash...ordered it...got the "bait and switch" phone call...after refusing the "better" flash I was assured the one I ordered, that was on back order, could be here by Christmas. On the 20th, after multiple assurances it would be in by Christmas, I get the email telling me they can't get it...so I call and they tell me AGAIN they will gladly give me a BETTER flash for the same money! So stupid me, I agree...because I know I can't get it locally this late. They even send me a UPS tracking number that I follow to make sure it will get here as they stated...two days before Christmas. Well guess what...they can stop the shipment AFTER they ship the item, AND YOU STILL WON'T GET IT!!! So here I sit the day before Christmas without the gift they PROMISED me two weeks ago I would have!! HORRID COMPANY!!! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I wish I had read reviews on this company prior to wasting my time and money and disappointing my son on Christmas day!!!"
"Same story as others. Ordered a Canon Flash in early Dec from the website claiming it was in-stock. Minutes after the order someone calls and says they are out-of-stock, but they will have more in a couple of weeks and not to worry they will pay for a shipping upgrade to get it by Christmas. They charged my credit card about a week before Christmas and the order status was ready-to-ship. On the 23 an email shows up that they can't ship and they are crediting my account. It's just not worth the hassle for a few dollars."
"On December 16, 2011 I went on MelloDigital.com and ordered 6 batteries for my Nikon D7000 camera. The screen said in stock. I needed them so I choose the 3 Day Shipping method. About and hour later a young lady from MelloDigital.com calls me and says that they don't have the batteries that I ordered because of the floods at the Nikon factory, but for an additional $17.00 dollars each x 6 she can ship a battery with a higher capacity that day. I agreed to pay the extra so she said that the batteries would ship out that day. About 40 minutes later a gentleman from MelloDigital.com calls me and confirms the change in the order that I placed online and assures me that the batteries will be shipped that day if I purchase the much higher priced batteries. Well I got scammed because the only thing that has happened since December 16, 2011 is the money has left my bank account but they still have not even shipped any batteries!!! Do not buy anything from MellowDigital.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To update my review Mellow Digital still has not refunded the cost of the batteries that they didn't provide. They have called and tried to get me to take down this review, But have not refunded the cost of the batteries. Please do not do business with Mellow Digital unless you enjoy getting lied to. "
"MelloDigital is a bait and switch scam. They lure you in with low prices and then try to sell you something more expensive, and if you don't comply, your order ultimately gets canceled.
I ordered a camera lens and some batteries on November 26. The website specifically said the items were in stock. I got a call back the next business day saying the item was on back order. They asked what kind of camera I had and said they knew all about that model. They also said this more expensive lens was better and I should buy it. I said "no thanks, I'll just wait for my order". I also mentioned that the website said the items were in stock, and the person said "it was wrong".
Several days ago my credit card was charged. My order status said "ready to ship" for several days, and today, December 23, they sent me this, after waiting weeks for my order.
"Dear XYZ,
Due to unexpected volume this holiday season, we have not been able to fulfill all of our orders. Our vendors simply could not keep up with the demand, therefore we have credited your card in the amount of $184.77. Should the case arise where the credit does not appear on your statement within 5 business days you will need to contact your issuing bank. You should be able to find the appropriate contact number on the back of your credit card or a recent credit card billing statement. You should advise your bank that you have a charge which you are disputing and would like an immediate refund of the charge. Should there be any further questions feel free to contact us at ***-***-****. We understand the inconvenience this might have caused you and sincerely apologize. We wish you and your families a happy holiday.
Thank you for shopping at MelloDigital.com"
Don't shop from these bums unless you want a lot of hassle for nothing."
"I tired to order a Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye lens from them earlier this month and paid the extra money to have it here by Christmas. I received an email a few days later saying the item was backordered for 3-5 weeks. I decided to call them and cancel the order and a woman told me that it would be ready to ship in a day or two. I told her that if that was the case, then I wouldn't cancel the order. Today I checked their "order status" link on the website and it said "Refund-2". When I just called them back, another woman said that they were planning on calling me (emailing me, she said both...) today that they received a damaged shipment and they were doing me a favor by not sending me broken equipment. After hearing this I told her I wanted my money back and she said it would be refunded today. What a bunch of crap.... Seems like they don't actually stock anything, take your money, and then don't let you know that you're not getting your product until you contact them to find out where it is. BAIT AND SWITCH. Don't be suckered by slightly lower prices, you don't even get what you pay for...!"
"I tried to order a Canon 430EX II Flash and also got the call saying that they won't have it in stock for a few weeks. They tried to convince me to get the "better" Vivitar flash that other customers have been getting. I highly doubt anyone paying for a canon speedlite would ever substitute for a Vivitar. I needed this for a wedding New Years Eve so I told them to cancel my order. "
"I also ordered a Canon flash and was called and they tried to switch brands and I told them no thanks then they proceeded to tell me that the Canon was back ordered for three to five weeks. The day that it was supposed to come in one lady said that they did not come in then another salesperson said that the whole shipment came in damaged. What a crock. I then explained that I would make sure they received a bad review from me. I just wonder how these people stay in business?"
"The same as everyone else, I ordered a canon flash that was in stock, then was called to change to another flash, said it would be in by the 25th. But today i called and "wow" the shipment they got in was damaged and it was going to another two weeks. This is a scam company, don't do business with them. Where are the government protection when we need them."
"I wish I found this vendor's review before I placed the order. It seems like most people are upset by the bad business ethics and false promises this place offered.
I ordered a Canon 430EX II Flash on December 15, John Quagen, their customer rep today sends me that The product is not available and that they are refunding me. This, of course, is after many e-mail exchanges confirming the availability and the estimated date of delivery for the order.
On their final e-mail,
"Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be able to ship this order for you this week. Due to the high volume of sales recently, our vendors have not been able to keep up with the demand. We will refund your card today and you should see the funds back on your card in about 5-7 business days. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you."
I have accused them of having bad business ethics and poor customer service, John replies:
"We are allowed to be out of stock on items furthermore you where never charged"
when their website is still currently showing the product to be in stock.
In any case, they are not a reputable vendor to deal with. Do not be fooled by their lower price and spend your money elsewhere.
Now I have to scramble for a flash to use for Christmas!!
P.S. They have another site that looks almost identical to MelloDigital.com with an Eastcoast and Westcoast address that offer the same line. That site contained "accessories" somewhere on the site name... Just be careful and go with a reputable vendor. "
