"Good price, but awful service.

I ordered a barebones system from Monarch Computer on August 1st. I received almost no information on the products status. The website stated that it was still testing the system and it would then go to QC and then be shipped out. This happened for 2 weeks. Finally after just growing confused and annoyed with what the hold up was, I made some phone calls. These phone calls often left me waiting on hold for hours without ever reaching my destination or their system just disconnecting me. I finally was able to reach someone who told me it would ship that evening. It did not. I made some more emails and was told it would ship that evening or the next day it did not. Finally on August 18th the barebones system shipped.

"After purchasing, the transaction posted right away on my CC statement, MonarchComputer hasn't even approved/verified my order and my card was charged immediately. MonarchComputer emailed me a couple of hours later saying that my order has been placed on hold because they couldn't verify the billing address on my CC. I called my CC company to ask if the transaction has been put on hold, the CC customer rep. told me the trasaction went thru. A day later, I get another email saying the same thing that my order was on hold because they couldn't verify the address. I gave my CC company a call again and got the same message that the transaction went thru so I called MonarchComputer, and they told me they're going to give my CC company a call when they should've done so already.
Very bad policy. Charge CC first, even if order wasn't verified yet or has shipped already. Then they'll email you saying your order is on hold when you're already billed for it."

"Ordered a WD Caviar SE 320GB SATA150 HD on a Sunday, and it arrived the coming Friday. They had the cheapest price, and I was impressed with how quickly it arrived (with free shipping).

Open it up and I notice that the air bags they use as cushioning for packages were largely deflated (several had practically no air inside). Thus, it was a disappointment, although no surprise, to find out that the hard drive was dead.

I filled out the RMA form online that they have, and received no confirmation that anything had been recieved. After two days waiting I eventually decided to stop waiting and went to the Western Digital homepage and RMA'd through them (they have an advance RMA option where they ship first, you can send yours in later). The Monarch RMA eventually came in the next day, but I expected faster (Western Digital was received within the hour), as well as some sort of confirmation that my request had been recieved

Overall, I'll shop there again, but the packaging appears to be a problem, and their response time needs to be improved."

"I placed an order on July 20 for a custom system. It is now August 15 and my system has not shipped yet. They said custom systems take 8 to 13 days to ship. It's been 18 buisness days. They said it could ship that same day once I approved a change in parts (the configuration wasn't compatible or something). This was on thursday (aug 10), on friday (aug 11) morning I said it was ok, please ship it ASAP.

I didn't get a reply until monday, saying they had a problem with their "instapak" machine on friday, and that's why they haven't shipped it yet.

However, he said he would upgrade to 2 day shipping and include a "gift". I will update this review once I recieve it.

UPDATE: After I initially posted this review, it was a bit more negative, and I was contacted the next day by "Sterling" the head executive sales engineer or somesuch. He gave me his personal cell phone and said I could call him anytime before midnight! He refunded me the $60 build fee, because the building took so long. From reading so many other positive reviews here, it seems like they really care about their customers, but problems do happen sometimes. I will update this again once I recieve the shipment. (shipped on monday, expected delivery thursday - so it was upgraded from the basic shipping, and shipping is somewhat expensive for two computers)"
