"Very sketchy outfit. After ordering a Pentax AF 360 FGZ flash from NWV, I posted about it on a forum. One of the forum members responded that he had dealt with them before, and that I should expect a call from them saying that the item had just run out of stock--a classic bait-and-switch tactic. Sure enough, they called the next business day and said the flash had just run out of stock. I asked them to cancel my order immediately. The only positive side of this is that I got my money back, but these guys have "scam" written all over them."

""Bait and switch?"

Fifteen minutes after I placed my negative review, I received a call from someone claiming to represent the "legal department" of NWV Direct.

Because of that call, I am changing some aspects of this review. My original order was made nearly seven months ago, so I admit I misspoke one of the details.

I had stated that NWV Direct telephoned me after I placed my order. They did not. I received an email saying that the item (THE ITEM THAT THEY WERE BOLDLY ADVERTISING FOR $165) was out of stock. I did not rescind my order, but waited.

Last month, I saw that NWV Direct was again advertising the same item, only for $175.

I emailed NWV and asked them why they had not informed me they now had the product. They sent back the usual electronically-generated response acknowledging the receipt of my email. I have heard nothing more from NWV until I placed this review.

The guy from the "legal department" with whom I spoke today claims that the product, currently advertised at $175, is not in stock, but the ad says to call.

These words appear in small print near the bottom of the ad:

Warranty: 1 Year USA Manufacturers
Condition: Brand New & Factory Fresh
Stock: Please Call

Yet the site allowed me to place an item in my shopping cart without another mention.

So, this is not "bait and switch". It is a game called "bait the hook and see what bites".

Does it make sense to you that this is an item the company apparently advertises regularly, yet they have not had one of these in stock for nearly seven months?
