Meanwhile, the ResellerRatings website seems inordinately picky about honoring legal (albeit uncommon) syntax of email addresses. Subaddressing ("userid+arbitrarystring@hostname") has been part of the Email standards since their inception in 1982. It's about time foolish website developers got that thru their heads when parsing email addresses for validity. NWVDirect had no trouble w/ the same address."

"I placed an order for a Sony battery charger. The next day I was sent an email saying I need to call them about my order. I was told that Sony had recalled the charger I ordered but that Sony recommened a diiferent charger. Well from reading other post about this company I said to the guy "Let me guess this new charger is going to cost more" The guy on the line said "let me ask a manager if I can sell it to you for the same price I will be right back" Well he came back on the line and said I can have it for the same price and they would throw in express shipping. It still took 4 days to get the charger, and when I opened it, it was a cheap knock off brand. That goes for 15.00 on other web sites. They charged me 29.99. When I called to ask if that charger was recalled I was told NO. They are still showing the Sony charger on line for sale. I have filed a complaint with my state attorny generals office for fraud. Please do not buy from this site. They pull the old bait and switch."

"I was looking for a battery charger and battery for my Kodak camera. I wasn't happy with what I found on ebay and googled the model of charger and battery I was looking for. A site called newworldvideodirect.com came up. I found the product that I was looking for and ordered it. I later found a contact page to know where it would be shipping from and saw they are in Brooklyn. The next day I asked my IT Manager at work if he had ever heard of them and he said no, but researched it and found that there are numerous complaints on the internet about a bait and switch routine that they try to pull. Today, I received an email that they had made numerous calls to try to contact me at the number I provided (Not true) and they asked that I call them. When I did, I was told the exact story that others have complained about. She told me that the product was on backorder and that they have one that is better and when I inquired, it was more than twice as much! I told her that I wanted to cancel my order. She asked me if it was the price and I told her that it was that I was aware of the scam they run and I was not falling for it. She told me that I could call Kodak to verify that it was out of stock and I assured her that was not my concern, but felt that they needed to cease selling that item on their website knowing that it was on backorder. She then confirmed that I wanted to cancel my order and hung up on me, unprovoked without a "thank you" or a "good bye". I called her back and asked her if she hung up on me and she simply stated that she said that she would refund my order and that I would be receiving an email, which I did a short time later. I can't believe they can stay in business with their poor business practices, praying on innocent people."

This is the same old story: ordered a camera lens, received an email that they needed me to call about my order, called, was hung up on twice by the faulty call tree, emailed them back telling them I wasn't interested in any additional warranty and that I wasn't going to call again since I'd been hung up on twice, soon after received the expected cancellation of my order.

Ironically, my item was only a couple dollars more from Amazon, so I return to this established/reputable company. "

"I have ordered a charger for an NP-40 pentax batery and was told like many others that it is out of stock and offered a deal on the "Merkury" charger. Have not recieved yet but sounds fishy. I looked on ebay and noticed that there are many people selling "Merkury" and other rebranded identical looking chargers for anywhere from $15-20 shipped. Its funny how NWV sells that charger for $99 on sale with their retail being $129.00 and says it is a better charger than the original which retails on the pentax website for $60. So if you want the same cheap china charger buy it on ebay for $15 instead of up to $129 on their site."
