"New World Video Direct is a SCAM! Don't buy anything from them! I too emailed them inquiring about a battery charger for my camera that I found for a cheaper price online with them compared to any other site. That should have warned me right away. Two weeks had passed and I hadn't received the item. I emailed them and got an email back saying to call them. I called and two different people answered completely clueless as to who I was or why I was on hold! There was music playing in the background. It was obvious this business was out of someone's home! He asked for my invoice number and laughed at me because two weeks had passed and I hadn't inquired before then. I'm a student, very busy. Geez sorry buddy! He then proceeded to tell me and I quote, "the email has been backordered, ooops I mean the order has been backordered" and told me of a more expensive product I could buy because this one won't be in until January. By then I was fed up and I started reading to him the reviews from resellerratings.com to which he just quoted, I have a 7.6 customer happiness rating - yeah but you're stealing from the other 25% of us! I would highly discourage anyone from purchasing ANYTHING from this company! Just pay the few more bucks for the item from a more reliable and trustworthy source! "

"After reading the reviews of others I am disappointed in this company. I also fell for the bait and switch format. I also rec'd the call after I ordered the charger for my camera battery. I agreed to take the upgraded charger if I could get it at no extra shipping in 2 days. They agreed and it arrived in that time frame.

I do have to admit that I ordered the wrong charger after going through the web ordering system. I called the company and Charlie was very nice about confirming I had the wrong charger and found the correct one and agreed to send it overnight so I can use it at a concert I am going to.

Charlie was so nice and helpful that the only way I read the reviews and knew that I fell for the same bait and switch was I was referred to this site to complaint him and was sent to this web link. If it was not for this site I would have went on my way feeling happy that I recieved the product. Now I feel like I was taken advantage of. Charlie was an awsome and helpful customer service rep. just not happy with the etichs of the company! "

"I ordered the Sony VCL-DH1758 58mm 1.7x Telephoto Conversion lens for$84.00.

I received an email back from Mark Stephens at NWV stating there was a problem with my order please call (no details in email).

I called and he said they were out of stock and didn't know when they would have it in but they could get me the Olympus Tcon 17. He stated it sold for over $200 but he might could get me last weeks sell price of something like $199.

I refused and they did credit my account in full.

As far as I can tell that Olympus lens should sell for under $100 and this seems like classic bait and switch."

"Horrible horrible mistake.

I ordered a replacement battery charger for my camera from this website, huge mistake. Its a classic bait and switch operation. They advertise products, claim they are out of stock and try to upsell cheap thrid party junk instead at even higher prices in my case. As soon as i realized this had happened, and I did not want their replacement (in a matter of 5 minutes) i called them. I was told the item was already shipped!! with in 5 mins, impossible, it takes 5 mins to even package and print the label. They said I could not cancel. They also count not provide be the tracking number over the phone???? I said if they could not cancel, I would just have ups hold and return the package, and I wanted to begin the return process immediately. I was told they would not help me with the, none of my questions where answered, the customers service representatives, i spoke with, about 4 of them where all increadibly rude. STAY AWAY!!! I will have to dispute this payment with my credit card company now, what a hassle and waste of time. "

Ordered a battery and charger for my Nikon. Both priced at $29 which is about 50% of RRP.
Guess what ? They were on "back order". The rep didn't aggresively try to sell me other products, but I was ready for him if he did. I asked to cancel the order and it was cancelled promptly. They say they didn't charge my credit card, but of course, now they have my email and mailing address to spam me as much as they want.

I should have been suspicious as they don't even have a "login" system, just an order form.

update: after this review was posted, they told me the battery was in stock and that they would give me free shipping on it if i changed my review here. They also claimed that a login system was "inconvenient". Hmmm... Amazon seems to be doing just fine.

Suggestion: NWV Direct, if you really want to make me happy, change the prices on your store to real prices, and have the item IN STOCK, and if its OUT OF STOCK, please say so on your web site, so that people do NOT place waste of time orders and go somewhere else. Then... guess what, maybe you'd get some GOOD reviews here
