I put in a order for a Canon charger. then they contacted me that the part wont be available for the next 8 weeks, and suggested I buy a "Mercury" off brand charger for an additional $20.00. and this "after" charging my pay-pal account.

Yes I order from NWV because it appear to be cheaper and the somewhat fair rating on its store review. I have ordered my Nikon flash from another place now and will be receiving it in a week. It just doesn't worth the $20 of saving by going with store like this one. I learned my lesson.

I still keep my order with NVW just to see how they will handle my long waited back order. Are they going to cancel it because I don't want to switch? Are they going to drag it until my CC exp in 2010? Only time will tell.

I ordered a Nikon SB-800 flash. The item was out of stock and I got an email saying that new shipment will be there by April 19. I call around 19th and was told to wait another two weeks.

Yesterday I called and the customer rep tell me there is no definite shipment date and this is Nikon's problem. All the reputable reseller have this in stock and I don't know why they do not have it.

I am disappointed for the fact that they set my already low expectation and still cannot meet it."

"WOW! I am very concerned about my order now. I had the exact same "we're out of stock" phone calls and emails. Now I am concerned that I too, have fallen for a bait and switch. They basically upsold me $30 for a generic charger that supposedly works faster. I should have looked at this site first. I'll write more when I get my "on-sale" charger."

"I placed an order for an Olympus FL-36 Flash for my E-500. I got a call later in the day that they didn't have the 36 in stock and that Olympus was no longer manufacturing this flash because there was a problem with "yellowing".


But he had a comparable Flash that has the same "brain" TTL that would work with an Olympus. He said it was usually 260, but would knock it down to 199.

But it was an Olympus dedicated Flash. For a MANUAL camera (not digitial). This after multiple phone conversations to assuage me.

So I will be returning it, no major harm, other than a tardy birthday present I guess. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting.

"BEWARE and run away from this company: I searched for an item online and the NWV Direct page popped up in the search. Ordered the item I wanted only to be contacted the next day by a NWV rep informing me the lens was back ordered. The rep offered up two other lenses for consideration. On the phone with the salesperson, I decided to purchase the lens he described. The lens was shipped via overnight air. When the lens arrived, it turned out to be the same low quality lens I had unfortunately purchased at another location and was trying to replace with a better lens. The lens was not what I expected and I wanted to return it to NWV and called immediately to request a RMA for a return one day after the initial order. I was told by the NWV rep over the phone that the company will not accept returns on lenses or flashes.

Unfortunately, if the original item I had ordered would have been shipped, I would have been happy and would not have considered any return. Due to the rep having me on the phone and I had no idea to even consider looking at any return policy, I purchased the item. Basic customer service very lacking and shady.

UPDATE: I was contacted by NWV Direct regarding this review the day after it was posted. I was still unable to receive a refund for the lens. It was stated by the NVW that they have as strict no return policy on lenses and strobes and it is CLEARLY state on their website.

Unfortunately, no where on this page--where it actually does clearly state a 21 Day return policy-- is there a statement regarding a no return policy of lenses.

You must click on the hyperlinked "subject to the rules and policy" link and then read down four graphs to the one reference to lenses.

Does not seem as clearly stated on the website as the sales reps and supervisors claim it is. Granted, I do not purchase my photo equipment regularly since I am issued company photo gear but I have been a professional photographer for over twenty years and never have experienced this type of response from a company when ordering personal equipment. Unfortunately, I made a hasty purchase, I didn't do my homework regarding reviews concerning NVW customer reviews and paid the price.

It was also stated that this NWV no return policy is normal. A quick check on another much larger and reputable photo seller website shows a return policy which would accept a return.
