"This is the first and last time that I will do business with this vendor. They used the typical bait-and-switch on me.

I ordered 2 lenses from them
1) Sony wide angle lens
2) Canon Telephoto lens

After the order was placed they called to let me know that my lenses were out of stock and recommended replacement lenses, which I agreed to.

When the lenses arrived they were generic lenses
1) Digital Vision wide angle lens

The NWV Direct websites advertised the lenses on sale for $340 and $298 respectively. However, I was charged $149 and $129. This seemed suspect to me and I requested that they exchange the lenses for the ones I originally ordered. Both lenses are still sealed, but NVW refused the return and pointed out their no-return 'lens policy'.

Be very carefull in doing business with this company. I recommend that you DON'T!

"I ordered a wide-angle lens for my Canon G7. After I placed my order, New World Video called me as the lens I ordered was out of stock but the order could be filled in a few days. During our conversation, I mentioned that I'm a Realtor and need the wide-angle lens for room shots. The salesperson suggested I might want to consider a different, wider-angle lens for not much more. I went for it. Today I received it and the lens is awesome. No distortion and excellent resolution. They did a great service for me.

I just called NWV and asked for a recommendation for a flash, as the new lens blocks the camera's built-in flash. This salesperson directed me right to a flash he felt would suit my need... which was also on sale. I now trust that this item will also be perfect. Thanks guys!

Watch out with this one!!!

I received my order (invoice # 113522A Cust # 33060 ref # 128670)

I wanted to return the Sigma flash unit (#009159101) I originally ordered the
Canon 430EX # 0298B002 but was call that evening (at home) and told it was not in stock and the contact person told me I should get the sigma. They said it's a much better flash unit. Being new to all this I trusted him... wrong thing to do. I am not happy with the sigma Quality and also thought I was told it was going to be the Super version but received the ST version (no digital display etc).

I wanted to return this unit and get the Canon 430EX that I originally ordered instead.

I even told them I would pay a restocking fee if needed.

Here is the reply:

I then asked them why on their main page and even the box right next to the flash did it say a 21 day satisfaction guarantee ? They said that I should have read the fine print.

Their web page is very misleading so you better watch out.

All I wanted was to get the flash that I originally ordered but was conned into getting the sigma and now they won't take it back.

I hope this helps someone avoid a problem,

(edited) I guess they didn't like what I said... I only thought they said I was going to get the Super Version. This was because when I went back to their web site and looked up the sigma flash for $199.00 it was the super version. I should have looked at the product number which shows the ST version. My mistake. If I wanted the ST version It's a lot cheaper at other places... $139.95 at Amazon... Like I said before... be carefull.

I've contacted the BBB about NVW and advised them of the situation. Like I told them, Just make things right and I'll be happy. None of this get me to order because of pricing just to call me and have me switch my order because you say it's not in stock....

After receiving a call back, NWV apologized for my dissatisfaction and agreed to refund my full purchase price. They also told me they were going to be changing their policy regarding back-ordered parts and not have their CS reps try to "push" other brands to the purchaser unless asked. (This is what I understand from our conversion)

I am glad that they made this decision and am sure this will be better for them and the consumer.

Do to NWV's change of attitude in this situation I am going to change my rating of this company.

Very professional. With the bait and switch and gross misrepresentations by video retailers on the net, it is nice to work with pros.

"After reading the reviews for this store on this website I went ahead and made a purchase with them. At the time of ordering they had an average review of around 8 out of 10 - not perfect but pretty good I felt knowing that it's nearly impossible for any large volume store to satisfy every single customer.

Well I placed an order for a T-CON17 lens for my wife's Olympus camera only to be contacted a few days later to be informed it was out of stock until July 28th (past her birthday unfortunately). Charles was very helpful and didn't try to sell me anything or upgrade me. He even asked if I wanted to cancel my order but I told him no that I would wait.

Well as it got closer to her birthday, I decided to see if there was any update to the backorder but Charles told me no that it was still the same status. Surprisingly though, he told me I could buy the same exact product from his competitor at relatively the same price (within $5) and that they had it in stock.

Of course, I checked my credit card first to see if it had been charged which it had not so I went ahead and placed the order with the competitor and will have the lens in my time for her birthday now. To me, that was beyond my expectations as now NVW has lost the money I would have paid if I just waited until the part came in to their warehouse for me.

"New World Video Direct, isn't an outfit you want to have to deal with. A month ago I went online to find a good price on a Tcon-17 conversion lens. This outfit had it for the about $12 less than anyone else. I placed an online order for the lens and the adapter I needed for my camera. In the afternoon a saleman calls me and tells me they are out of stock on the adapter but could upgrade me to a Digital Optics 2X lens for the same price. He stated the lens got top reviews when it came out and I'd be more than happy with it. Like a dummy I agreed to it. It shipped 1 day later than promised, not a big deal, and when I got it I ran out to try it out. I took some photos and they were awful. They were far from sharp and all had chromatic aberration. I contacted NWV via email and they told me they don't accept returns on lenses. I then called and asked to speak to someone in charge. Of course, it was the person who answered the phone.He gave me the phone number for Sakar, the manufacturer of the lens. I called them and they asked me to take a few more photos according to their instructions. I did and emailed them the results. They came to the conclusion that I had a defective lens. They offered to send a replacement out. After 3 weeks, it finally arrived. I went out again and took some test shots. The middle 35% of the photo looks great. Everything else is just a blur. I called NWV again and told Charlie that I want to send this lens back in trade for the one I originally ordered. He then tried to talk me into another lens from this company. He told me it's a much higher quality and expensive lens and it's a 3x instead of a 2X. He said they would swap even up. I told him no, I want the Olympus. He did finally agree to accept my lens back in trade for the Olympus. Due to the price difference, I wouldn't be subject to a restocking fee. I said, as long as it works, I don't care. He told me that all I had to do was go to their online customer support page and fill out the RMA# request form, to his attention, and he would get back to me before the end of the next day. Guess what? Yesterday was the next day.

Charlie never did get back to me. When I tried to get ahold of him monday, I was told he was on another line. When I called back in the afternoon, I was told he had the day off. Tuesday he was supposedly out too. I tried to call him again this morning. The person who answered asked what I wanted him for. I can tell they have caller I.D. He said they wouldn't take back the lens. He asked if I read their return policy. I told him that the web page with the lens says right next to the lens, 21 day satisfaction guaranteed. He repeated, did you read the policy? I said it was a moot point bacause of the web page. By now he was getting quite loud. Finally he asked, "is there anything else I can do for you?". I then hung up. I then emailed them a copy of the web page and mentioned that the salesman had also told me about a 21 day satisfaction guarantee. I then informed them that I was a member of a few photo forums with tens of thousands of members, with whom I would share my experience. I even went so far as to threaten them with the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission. I let them know that I've seen where quite a few people have had issues with them and I would attempt to contact them and have them notify the BBB and FTC and I was sure after enough complaints, their business would be investigated.

Within 2 minutes, I had a call from the owner. He asked for my story and then said he wanted to make things right so I end up with a positive experience to share. I told him, all he needed to do was let me return this lens in even trade for the one I really wanted with the adapter. He checked and told me they were in stock and he would email me the return instructions. He also promised to send the other lens out the same day he received this one. Soon after, I got the email with instructions and address. I then packaged the lens up and took it to the post office. I sent it priority mail with insurance and signature required so I'll know exactly when they get it. They know I have documentation on everything so I think they are taking my threats seriously.

Finally, the lens I really wanted has arrived. NWV didn't waste much time trying to please me this time. They even answered all my emails promptly and courteously this time around. I think I shook thme up a bit. The lens and adapter came yesterday and works great.

Now I look at the lens on their site, that was supposedly worth more than the one I originally ordered with adapter, and it's now listed at only $69. That's a far cry from the money they got from me. Personally, I think they always had the lens and adapter in stock that I wanted.

I noticed reading the next review that the consumer was notified days later that the lens was out of stock. This is something the reseller should know as soon as the consumer places the order. A reputable company would not have to wait for days before letting the customer know something like this. This is just poor business.

"BEWARE: BAIT AND SWITCH!!!I had ordered a canon speedlite 430ex from the"dealers" because they had the cheapest price, and rated okay with various sites. The order went through, but the next day Phillip contacted me, stating it was out of stock. The "helpful" clerk asked me what camera I had and then asked why I didn't get this other light that Pop. Photography had rated as best for my camera. A light they had in stock but was more expensive. I bit and okayed the change. That night, I looked up the light, which is a Sartar, third rate piece of crap found at walmart for a hundred bucks. When I called Phillip back, he was very different, not wanting to talk. It was my problem, ect. He even hung up on me when I explained this was "BAIT AND SWITCH". He eventually agreed to let me return it, but then they only sent back 85% of the double retailed price I had paid due to their "return policy".I have kept all correspondance if needed for confirmation.
They are rip=off artists and should be closed down!!!!
