"For several years I have had problems with the original 1100mAh Li-ion batteries (Canon Model BP-511) that came with my Canon Digital Rebel camera. They were expensive, had short battery life even when new and got worse over time. I found a replacement at NWV Direct which is a 1900mAh at at about half the price of the original Canon batteries, so I decided to order it and try it out. NWV Direct shipped immediately and these new batteries work great. I am very happy to have found NWV Direct. My experience is all positive."
"On 11/29/2010 I ordered 2 name-brand (Canon) items from New World Video Direct. The following day I received an email stating there was a "problem with my order" and to contact them. I was told both items were on a "National Backorder" and would not be available for 6-8 weeks. The customer service rep of course immediately tried to sell me a generic substitute, but I declined since I was in no rush for the items. 8 weeks later (01/24/2011) when the items had not arrived I called and was told everything was still on backorder and would be another 3 weeks. 3 weeks later (02/14/2011) I called again only to be told it would be another 2 weeks. 2 weeks later (today, 03/07/2011) when I called yet again the rep wouldn't even give me an expected date for one of the items. I canceled the order and purchased the same products from Amazon for a few dollars more.
I am writing this review because an interesting review was posted for NWVDIRECT by avstar1k100 on 01/05/2011. In the review it is stated that the exact same 2 items I had ordered were purchased by this 'individual' and received immediately more than a month after I had placed my order and was told the items were not available (and still are not). Obviously, this posting was made by the company itself (or a marketing company acting on their behalf) to offset their many negative reviews with a bogus positive review. NWVDIRECT is nothing more than a 'bait and switch' organization advertizing name-brand items (that they probably never even carry) at a lower price than anywhere else and then tries to sell inferior generic items because they are 'out of stock' of the name-brand product(s). A quick review of the New York Better Business Bureau for New World Direct would certainly seem to substantiate this idea (http://www.bbb.org/new-york-city/business-reviews/electronic-equipment-and-supplies-dealers/new-world-video-direct-in-brooklyn-ny-85105/) where they have the lowest possible F rating.

"Bait and switch!! The NWV website Indicated it had the lens in stock I desired. The next day after placing the order I received an email message asking I contact them. After calling the customer service agent I was told the item was NOT in stock after all. I believe this was a blatant attempt to attract me to the site knowing that they did not have the item I wanted. When I confronted the agent I was told they did no want customer like me and she was exceptionally rude. Run away from this vendor with deceptive business practices."

"My situation is this. I purchased a Sony VCL DH0758 Wide Angle lens. The website says its in stock and you can order it. The next day, I get a call from the "salesperson" and he said that the lens is not in stock and has been backordered for some time and they dont know when they will get it in. But they will offer a better lens (0.5x vs the Sony 0.7x) at a higher price. Me being stupid at the time didnt realize that 0.7x is better, but he said the lower the number the better. Seriously?? Anyway, I get the lens and try it out. The lens sucks, pictures distorted and an absolute waste of money. The manufacturer of this "other" model is the Crystal Vision. Nobody has ever heard of them, I looked all over the internet and could not find any info on them. The last part of the story, they say that there is a 21 day return policy, but VERY few things can be returned. I would stay away from this place and not order from them again..."
"I accidentally ordered the wrong wide angle lense for my Sony camcorder. Charlie helped me find the correct lense to work best with this HD camcorder. It is rare these days to find someone that wants to make sure you taken care of."
"I left my lens cap in a taxi in Vegas. When I got home I typed in my camera type and ordered a replacement NWV. It was inexpensive and was delivered quickly. Unfortunately (due to my own error), I ordered the wrong size. I received a reply to my email requesting an exchange within a few hours (from a real person!). A replacement was sent to me immediately at no charge. I would definitely go to this company again. "
"I was amazed at how quickly this company responded. Not only did they ship my order, comprising of a huge number of camera accessories, but they called me to ask me about a pre-ordered item the same day!
The following day, I returned the call, which was promptly answered and we discussed my order. The helpful staff (Charlie) explained the situation with the mfg. and helped me to pick another item AND then shipped it free. When the order comes, I will check everything, but, having been in customer service myself for over 25 years, I have no doubt it will be timely, intact. "

After posting this review I got a call from the person who handles the return of flashes who had to this point been on vacation. The situation was immediately fixed I got my RMA and will be receiving a full refund. They were even helpful enough to refund my shipping costs and pay for shipping back to them. After 3 weeks I appreciate the problem finally being resolved.

Do not under any circumstances order from these people. Go to the guy on the street selling stuff out of his trunk first. Their customer service is horrific. To say they have given me the run around is an understatement. I've spent the last 3 weeks trying to get authorization code to return an item that they clearly said I could return. Only to be told I couldn't, then they were checking with a supervisor, then yes we'll send that code right away, followed by sometimes it takes a couple of days and lastly wow that email didn't get sent out. REALLY?!?! Save yourself the trouble and just order from Amazon.com or Ebay or your cousin Vinny who knows this guy. Trust me you will be better off. "
"I think the customer service at this company is excellent. I must have sent at least six e-mails to them requesting information on a specific lens and whether it would work with my camera, and each question was answered within one hour. So I would not hesitate to buy from NWVD again in the future at all, my experience with them was superb and they shipped my item to me super fast. I was nervous from reading some of the reviews, but after asking questions and getting answers right away, I had no worries. You just have to know what you want and be specific, they will do their best to earn your business. If you're worried about something being in stock, a simple e-mail is pretty easy. Thanks, guys."
