While comparing prices online for a replacement RAM memory module for my laptop, I found a good price at Notebookparts.com. The online explanation for the part listed Kingston Technologies, the company that made the OEM part for my computer, as the manufacturer. Since the price was good, I sent an e-mail to double-check that the part was, in fact, a Kingston part. I still have the e-mail in which I received the answer, "It is the original memory." Well, it is not, but is a generic part without a manufacturer's name or part number to be found anywhere on the part or its packaging.
In addition, I never received the part after Notebookparts.com shipped it to me in Poland, where I'm attending an academic program. The part was held up in Polish customs and eventually shipped back to the sender. Although I sent numerous e-mails to FEDEX, Notebookparts.com's courier, to ask for help getting my package, FEDEX USA continually offered apologies but no answers, and referred me to FEDEX Poland, which appears to have a serious customer service gap in this country and which never answered any of my e-mails. An e-mail I sent to Notebookparts.com explaining the problems I was having getting any info from FEDEX regarding my undelivered package was simply ignored.
After the package was sent back to Notebookparts.com, they honored my request to send it to my USA address, but refused to give me a refund on the international shipping costs for the package I never received here. They said they'd spoken to FEDEX and that FEDEX had told them they'd tried to contact me without success, which -- considering the hours of personal time I spent trying to get info from FEDEX about the package -- couldn't be further from the truth. I eventually received the part here in Poland, but only after a family member shipped it to me again and I'd paid shipping costs a second time. I still don't know why the package was held up in customs the first time around when Notebookparts.com shipped it?
These people are untrustworthy and unreliable. Don't risk losing money if something goes wrong or not getting what you think you're paying for! They pay lip service to customer service in their e-mails when you order from them, but if it comes to any problems or complaints, their service is atrocious.

First, the picture on the website looked like the original adapter but it doesn't look like the adapter that I received. Furthermore, the power rating is a bit lower than the original unit. "I work in the field of IT warrenty repairs for compaq/hp. I do side jobs for my friends now and then for extra cash when the need arises. My latest venture included a compaq presario 1700 which had died on a clients laptop. I checked it out and sure enough the board had gone bad. Be it this was an older model it was clearly out of warrenty so I shopped around online for system boards. HP/Compaq wanted around $460 for the board purchased which was a bit high. I found the board on Ebay for about 375 which was even better. It was when I slapped the part# of the board into reseller ratings search for products when I discovered notebookparts.com was selling the board for $249.00, good deal! I checked the site out and it looked professional enough that I felt comfortable buying from them. Shipping was estimated at 5-7 days so I was not expecting anything any time soon. To my disbelief, the board arived on the 4th (purchased Sunday Night on the 2nd!) Very impressed. Not sure if the board was refurbed or not, but I found no markings on it to indicate otherwise. Swapped out the board and fired up the laptop, and sure enough it powered on just fine. Much thanks to Notebookparts.com for the quick delivery and low price. "DO NOT ORDER from this company they are FRAUDS. I orderd a Toshiba Tecra 9000/9100 Keyboard and when I recieved it. I had our CERTIFIED TOSHIBA TECHNICIAN install it. It was defective. I contacted them and I sent it back @ my cost of course. They sent me another supposedly new key board. The nubbin on this keyboard was dirty and the Ribbon cable had finger prints on it. This one did the same thing. As the last one. Once again I had our TOSHIBA CAERTIFED TECHNICIAN test it in various other Tecra 9000's. They keyboard is DEFECTIVE. I contacted them about sending it back they told me no that the keyboard was good and their company was not a free company very rudely might I add. I advised him I was going to send it back and wanted my moeny back. HE TOLD ME NO. I advised him I would then be taking this issue up with my credit card company for fraud. "I purchased a replacement battery for a Sony laptop, made by a Chinese third-party manufacturer. The battery CEASED working completely. The website for the manufacturer states there is a 6 month warrantee. Notebookparts told me to screw off. Bad cust serv. Will never order again."

Pros:
Arrived 3 days ahead of schedule, packaged nicely, no apparent damage. Perfect for my college studies where I carry my laptop around frequently. Customer service was easy, and provided me with a tracking number for my package. Pricing was fairly reasonable and low compared to sonystyle.com, which was $199 with free shipping. The total I paid for was $154 + $15 = $169, so I saved about $30 after shipping.
Cons:
Did not include original box, so I could not register my port replicator. Not even sure if this product was new, since it wasn't in it's original box, but had most of its packaging. Shipping was outrageous for such a light product (2 lbs cost $15 for Airborne Express ground). Not sure if the product was insured.
Overall was pretty good. I just hope this port replicator doesn't break."
