"I was interested in a tv/vcr combo unit at OfficeMax.Com. The webpage stated that the unit was in stock and would ship in 1 business day. So I went ahead and ordered one. The email confirmation stated that the item was backordered (which was not listed on thier site!) and that if not shipped within 10 days I would be emailed as to the status of the order. 10 days passed and I was not notified. I called the Customer Support Line only to be told that they had received a shipment and would promptly ship the following buisness day. The item was not delivered the following day so again I called back Customer Support. I was told that they had plenty of product in stock and that my order was not cleared for delivery!?! So, the order was updated and I received my item the next day.

I am not pleased with the amount of leg work I had to do to receive my order. To top it off... due to thier inaccurate representation of product availability online and poor CSR information I may now have missed the deadline for my rebate subnission on this item (as it had to be postmarked w/ in 14 days of order). Needless to say, I will not be ordering from Officemax.com again.

"absolutely the worst packaging ever! for a hard drive none the less! it came in a beat up box that was partially taped shut, and a piece of packing paper was loosely stuffed in the box to one side. plenty of room for the drive to slide around in the box. havent tested it yet. i recieved 3 shipping confirmations over the course of 5 days, but no tracking info. also, there were plenty of discrepancies with the delivery reciept. the dates were wrong, and the order number was different. i will never order anything of importance from officemax. likely never anything period."

"Purchased a corner desk on sale for $39 and 100pk CD-R Spindle for $14.98 for a total of $56 total with FREE SHIPPING. My first time buying online from them and it went quite well. The free shipping got it to my house in 2 DAYS!! this was a first so i thought i would emphasize that.

I only bought the cd pack to get the free shipping (its for orders over $50) and I needed them anyways and it was a good deal.

one more mark off my christmas list thanks to officemax.

"Officemax's rebates are scams! It is a calculated strategy to reject portion of valid rebates hoping that customer have no records or give up fighting. I spent too much time writing letters and digging records. The are NOT worth it."

" Received a package from them that had the entire side ripped out of it and you could stick your hand through the top of the box.Of course some items were missing so I called them immediately,they were nice about it and said they would credit my card back for the missing items.No refund,called a second time they said they would research it and call me back.No call,so I called the next week for the third time they said they would research it and call back.No call,so I called back again,I was put on hold untill they hung up on me.Called back again,this time they told me there would be no refund,now it is in the hands of my credit card company.Avoid this company,stick with those who package properly AND honor their rebates."

"Ordered a digital camera bundle from them that was an amazing deal. The order notification listed the price as $50 more, and it had already gone out for delivery. I called customer service once I realised that my credit card was being charged the higher price. While this was not an appreciated way to handle things, the CS rep I spoke to really looked into the matter, found the time stamped receipt of purchase showing a purchase price of $150 (what I expected to pay), and sent a credit to my card for the amount over charged. She also e-mailed a gift card good for $25 off my next purchase as an apology to the mix-up. It could possibly have been a big disaster, but their CS responded admirably and I will do business with them again."

"Wow! I can barely believe the service I just received. I mean, this was great! I've shopped from many stores that are listed as top resellers on resellerratings.com, from newegg.com to casecooler.com to performance-pcs.com, but this was the fastest shipping and best service I have EVER gotten on computer products.

Well, this is my first time shopping with officemax.com (I usually do shop at their local store though), and I'm satisfied. I ordered three items (DVD-ROM Drive, 52X Burner, and 100-pack Slim Cases) from them less than 26 hours ago, and it arrived at my doorstep via UPS about 15 minutes ago! I have never received faster shipping. I was thinking about cancelling the order just earlier this morning because I was afraid I might not get the shipment in time and I gotta leave for college next week, but amazing, it arrived today as it stated it would on their website's tracking service page.

What's more? The items I ordered required mail-in rebates, and they even sent a rebate booklet in the UPS box with me so I don't have to print out the PDF files on my own.

Highly recommended! I would definitely do business with them again in the future.

"I ordered the correct item at a good price. They do not provide tracking numbers but do provide a wide GUESS as to when to expect the item. They were not even close. They also shipped the wrong item and refuse to make this good, as their prices have changed since my order and they say there was a "mistake" on the website. Bologna, there was no mistake. Customer service tried to help, but the corporate structure is too inflexible. Overall a DISASTER of an experience."

"I placed an order for 3 sets of 2 boxes (6 total).
OfficeMax shipped only 3 boxes, not 6.

On the phone, they said the web site had an error, and each set contains just 1 box. (2 weeks later, their web site still showed them selling in sets of 2.)

So we returned the complete order for a complete refund.

Checking my VISA bill, I notice that they billed us 3 times for $24 each! (The original order was $24). They have not removed these charges, and will not let me talk to a supervisor.

Summary: misrepresented product, triple-billed us, and didn't refund our money after we returned the product.

I can't believe a major retailer like OfficeMax is this bad! Never again.

"I am still waiting for the Mad Dog CDrw to arrive :)

On april 14th, I placed the order for Mad dog CDRW and some blank cdrs. Office max shipped them in 2 packages via UPS of which I received only 1. The other one is still missing, and they were unable to put a trace on that. When I contacted them, they said all items were delivered, which was not the case, and when I pointed to the UPS tracking information, they finally told me they'll be refunding me [that's on April 19th]. Today is July 5th, and no refund. So I contact this CS rep cc.latoshM, who tells me I should've contacted my credit card company to do a chargeback! They said they were going to refund me, why'd I chargeback?

If you do a tracking on 1Z 597 5W7 03 4426 976 1 at UPS website, you'll see there were 2 packages sent, only one was delivered, and they still claimed I received everything. Then what was that second package doing there?

Avoid this company at any cost. They rip you off with fraudulant rebates, horrible customer service and non-delivery of products and then refusing to refund you. I give this company F minus.

"OfficeMax will honor their rebates, if you ask OM for satisfaction.
I had a couple of rebates that were deemed invalid by Rebateshq.com (the OM rebate agent).
I sent requested photocopies of purchase documentation to no avail.
After getting a "denied" postcard, I finally almost gave up on the whole rebate scheme, and OfficeMax in particular.
One "last ditch" effort paid off.
I phoned & emailed customer service at OfficeMax.
The efficient OM rep promptly emailed that she had contacted Rebateshq, & that the status of the rebates had been changed to "valid", & that a check would be issued.

Was the hassle worth it?
Well, I like the OfficeMax store near me, & went to the extreme to avoid invoking a personal boycott.
It really depends on how often "invalid" is seen next to the rebate ID# on the tracking website.
I can say nothing bad about OfficeMax, except that they do not dictate that Rebateshq honor every single validly submitted rebate.
I do have the choice of not participating in the rebate scenario at all, but for now, I know a real person at OfficeMax who will intervene if Rebateshq tries to step on me with their "invalid boots".

"Ordered a hard-drive and a CD-RW because of the mail-in-rebate. Have sent out the rebate forms and everything. Received the products. The packaging wasn't very good but nothing was broken as the manufacturers had done a good job in the retail box. The UPS person just left the packages outside my door, nobody was home. That freaked me out a little. I'll have to see with time how soon (if ever) I get the rebates.

They did mess up on my CD-RW order. They cancelled it without emailing me, and when I called them the answer was: "It's discontinued!". But with a little argument and a lot of cooperation from the customer service, my order was back on track. If I like the mail-in-rebates, I would buy from Officemax.com again.
