"I have been ordering from Onecall for quite some time, years in fact. Most of my orders went through without issue. Now, I tried to have them price match Dell on ordering an EOS 20D. I was told by the person I spoke with "we don't do that, your Dell order will never ship". Okay, I accepted it but later found out on DPreview.com forums, that they matched Dell all day long. It matters who you speak to, but shouldn't!!! If you decide to order from them, I've heard it should be Holly and not Jason. I sent them an email four days ago and they have yet to reply! As a customer service rep myself, I deal with all kinds of different scenarios and experiences when it comes to the customer...whether pleasant or unpleasant. It can prove to be quite a challenge, and in the end, can be very taxing on one's own outlook on how they are doing at their jobs when helping the customer.
I must say that Jay was very helpful with all of my needs. He definitely went the extra mile to do whatever he could to answer all my questions. This order is a slightly, somewhat "risky" order for me, being that this is an item of a monetary value that is quite large for me. Jay really put me at ease with the purchase, and I am really fortunate to have had him do that for me.
I will say that I have experienced similar situations (that were positive) with another company in regards to consumer electronics. But OneCall.com has proven their worth (per Jay's hard work and dilligence) and have definitely jumped to the top of my list for future considerations.

"I ordered a Tamron 28-75 DI lens with a S/N of 037310 on 10/18 that is specifically designed for Canon digital SLR cameras. After receiving the lens, I found it was defect on my Canon 20D (front focus) because I could not get the lens to auto-focused right, especially at 28mm/F2.8. I sent the camera back along with my test shots for an exchange on 10/27 and your return department confirmed receiving it on 11/1. However, Sales person Stephanie refused to send me the exchange lens unless I agreed not to do an exchange even though it is defect again. I believe this is unreasonable demand. After I demanded to talk to her supervisor, she hung up on me. I have never been hung up on even with the worst online retailers.

I thought Onecall was a good and reliable online retailer until today. I am really not happy about my experience. Without being able to receive a non-defect lens for weeks, it really caused me a lot of trouble, not to mention all the time spent for shipping the defect lens back and numerous phone calls and frustration.
Stephanie and others sales person told me that a lot of people have problems with the certain copies of the Tamron 28-75 lens. Since this lens is specifically designed for Canon digital SLR cameras, if it didn’t work correctly on my Canon 20D, it must be defect, and I should be entitled for an exchange in a timely manner. The problem seems well known among the sales persons at Onecall. Demanding a customer to waive the exchange right on a defect product is against Onecall’s policy listed online.
Onecall is a good company until you want to return and exchange. I would suggest avoiding them for things that are known to be problematic like lenses, which vary from copy to copy.
Update on 11/15/2004:
After this review, I got a phone call from Paul, the VP of Onecall, promising a hassle free exchange. And a very nice and helpful sales representative Thomas did two more exchanges for me until I was satisfied. Thomas was nice and did two follow up calls to make sure that the lens worked! I am very happy for the services I received.

"I recently bought a Nikon D70 Kit from OneCall on the evening of 10/25. On 10/26 it shipped and I received the camera on 10/28 with free FedEx shipping. Now that's the way all online retailers should do business. Because I was purchasing a digital camera I was waiting for the obligatory call to "confirm" something about my order and get the hard sell to purchase over-priced accessories I did not need or want. The call never came but an e-mail that my order had shipped did, complete with the tracking number. The camera was well packaged and was exactly as described. "This was my 2nd purchase from this retailer. I had no problem with my first purchase. However, my experience was not so good on my second time. I placed an order for two Canon A310 digital cameras. When my order arrived I checked the cameras, for my surprise BOTH of them had a burnt pixel in the LCD display. Called onecall.com (Matt), who argued that Canon does not consider it a defect, therefore I was not entitled for an exchange and if I wanted to return, there would be a 15% restocking fee. He called me later and offered to exchange them as long as I paid for shipping both ways. My opinion is this retailer has good prices, however the quality of their products is not great, and their return/exchange policy is the worst I have experienced so far. So, all I can say is: Good luck when you place an order with them. I plan to buy from them again, but only products w/out much chance for problems (not electronics) and only if their price makes it worth the risk."
