The membership is weird. Once i become the member, i cannot enter any promotion code. I have to contact the live chat to help with it.
To prevent most issues state by other customers, one thing u need to remember as a customer: They never state the item is new or refurbished, so I recommend you to use the live chat to make sure the item's condition. The live chat is really helpful and convenient to use. Highly recommended~"
"Twice burned, and learned. I will no longer shop at this online store. I don't appreciate having customer service accuse me of returning a damaged item when it was in perfect condition. They just use this as an excuse to try and get out of refunding your money. I had to threaten government action to get my money back. Beware of dealing with such people."

"I placed an order with overstock.com (not the first time I've used the company) and ten days later my order was still showing as 'processing'. I emailed customer service and was told to speak to loss prevention. loss prevention were impossible to get hold of. They couldn't explain why the order had taken so long to process and they couldn't explain why I was told to contact a department that had no concerns with my order.
I cancelled my order. Sometimes its easier to shop locally, or with a merchant that you know will get things right."
"I ordered 2 items from overstock.com on 4/12/11. First item arrived on 4/15 - fast shipping; the item however, was crap. What was supposed to be a *new* headset was quite obviously USED. Packaging was cut open and scotch taped shut. I'd have been disappointed with the quality even if I'd bought this item on ebay! I returned this item BUT, I had to pay the return shipping.
According the the website the second item was shipped on 4/13/11 and it's now 4/22 and the second item has not yet been received. Maybe this is because the tracking number from USPS says that the item was received by them on 4/20/11 (a full week after Overstock said they shipped it.)
Hmmm. Maybe Overstock isn't truthful on the quality of their merchandise or their shipping dates, I don't know.

The only good thing was that they replied fairly fast to my questions. Did they give me a satisfying answer? no. I purchased 3 products, which were ok, because they were name brands that I knew, but they were too big, so I had to return them. When I went back to the website I accidentally got redirected to the American site and realized that all the items were at least $40 cheaper on the American site than on the Canadian where I purchased them from. I inquired about the discrepancy to Customer Service, they told me that it was because of duty/taxes. I checked my bill, and I had a SEPARATE charge for duty/taxes, I had to email back and forth for days to try to get a straight answer, but no luck so I finally asked for a Manager and I got FiftyOne's toll-free number. Useless.
When they sent me a link for my return label, it didn't work, i had to contact CS again. Then i noticed the return shipping price i was being charged was 3 times more than the price i paid to get the products in the first place. wtf. so when i asked about that they told me they would give me a credit for "inconvenience". I got the return confirmation, did it have that credit? NOPE.
i'm so sick of their customer service it's ridiculous. Seems like they are only there to rip people off and make more money from those that don't pay attention to the "misc. charges" on their bills.
I will never shop at overstock again, especially seeing as there are so many other online shops out there."
"I will NEVER buy from Overstock again. LONG story shortened, I needed 8 of the same item in 10 days. I got on chat with customer service and they told me the items were in Utah. Perfect, since I'm in CA. I would have them in time, the rep assured. Well, cut to FIVE days later when the items finally shipped... from TN! THEN, days later, I found out that only 4 shipped from TN. The other 4 shipped in 2 packages - both from the East coast AFTER the date I needed them. CS did nothing to remedy the situation, even though I contacted them after the first box shipped and before the rest of the order shipped. To appease me (it didn't work) they gave me a $20 credit.
Cut to 3/21 when I placed an order to use the $20 credit – I did not get free shipping. The order listing on my account says the order shipped on 3/22, even though I didn't get a shipping notification until 3/24. According to USPS, the package didn't leave the sorting facility until 3/30, which means the box sat in a container at Overstock's shipping dept until it was full enough for USPS to pick up. That’s NINE days to ship a book. Luckily, I didn't need it by a certain date. If I'd ordered from Amazon - even with free shipping - it would have been here already.
Horrid and unrepentant customer service plus the slowest shipping anywhere mean I won't ever buy from them again...and I'll tell everyone I know to avoid them like the plague. I don't care how good their prices are. It's just not worth the headaches."
"CAUTION when buying "Refurbished" items. I purchased a refurb. Toshiba LCD TV from Overstock.com, and it quit working in less than a year. Toshiba normally offers a 1-yr warranty on their TVs, but this one had been stamped "void" in the owner's manual. Overstock said their own warranty is only 90 days. I will not buy anything "refurbished" from them again."

"It amazes me that the picture in their display ad is of a black rug, the description says "Add functional beauty to your home decor with a black rug", the rug is a medium brown and no one can see why that would be a problem.
It happens that one might get the wrong color rug. The problem that the product is actually brown, black ones are not available and they don't care about correcting their display add, so everyone who orders one gets a disappointing surprise. How can they do business like that?

"Horrible, horrible, horrible. I ordered a coffee maker. They sent me a used cardboard box taped with silver duct tape containing many parts of a coffee maker, no instructions, no warranty. I have no idea if it was all there, no idea how to put it together to find out. I called to get an authorized return. I returned it at my cost and was given a credit for future purchase. I would NEVER buy anything from them again, so I got all that aggravation and am out the $35 I paid plus the time and money it cost me to return the item. Price wise overstock is okay compared to its competitors. Product range is good. But, what would product selection do if you do not receive the products that you have ordered. If you have issues with your order once placed, customer service will go by the rules dictated by overstock ridiculous policies, which in other words, we cannot help you in case of delivery issues and tracking time could be anywhere from 4-7 business days. They simply do not know how to resolve the issues and satisfy a customer. Moreover, the phrase it uses these days "guaranteed delivery by 11th Feb (for valentine's day occasion) is a complete fraud. They could not even deliver by 14th Feb. I placed an order 15 days ago and still waiting for it to be delivered. And, customer service says it will take another 7 business days to trace it before a refund can be issued. Really bad experience ordering from overstock. Do not guarantee what you cannot deliver."
"I have been a customer of Overstock.com for about ten years. Originally struck by the high quality of the merchandise and the good prices, I shopped there often. More recently, though, their prices are no longer truly low and the quality is definitely waning. In fact. a couple of years ago, I purchased an occasional chair from Overstock and saw the same product a few weeks later at a major department (not discount) store in downtown Chicago for less! It is simple to find equivalent or identical merchandise in local shops for less. HOWEVER THE REASON THAT I WILL NO LONGER SHOP THERE IS:
My sister, who lives in another state, purchased a book for my husband's birthday. It arrived in Spanish (he does not speak Spanish). I told my sister that I would take care of returning the book since she cannot do these things from work. Also, she is going through a lot of family problems (husband with long-term illness and daughter in the hospital) and I am trying to keep her from any additional stress. I called Overstock to arrange for the return and was told that they could not issue a credit to my sister's credit card unless she called herself. I explained the extenuating circumstances, but was denied. Frequently line employees cannot make exceptions so I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor told me the same thing. A reputable merchant works with its customers.

So unless you over pay they will not sell you the item.
A B&M store cannot do this, they would be sued.
and here is the clause they use to defend themselves:
