"I purchased a necklace at Overstock because it resembled what my wife had described. I opted for the "standard" shipping, and, yes, Overstock promised it in time for Christmas Eve.

I'm happy to report that the necklace arrived *on* Christmas Eve. I went from the mailbox, to the bedroom to wrap it, to the Christmas tree and into my wife's hands. Couldn't have cut that any closer, but the item arrived, on time, in good shape, as it appeared and was described on the site and most importantly, my wife was thrilled with it.

From the time I received it to the time it went around my wife's neck, I can't fault any part of the experience, although a little more communication would have been appreciated."

"Ordered an item as a Christmas present on 12/17/2010. The item was marked for Guaranteed Delivery by 12/24. the day came and went and still no delivery. I contacted customer service via online chat on 12/25 and was offered a 10% off discount on one future purchase. I told the customer service person I was not going to be shopping at Overstock.com again because they offer empty promises. I only ordered from Overstock because of the guaranteed shipping, even though the price of the item was the same from multiple e-tailers. Needless to say, their "Delivery Guarantee" is worthless and they do nothing to make up for ruining Christmas. I can't even imagine people who bought their children gifts under the same premise of "Guaranteed Delivery" only to have empty Christmas trees greet their kids Christmas morning."

"Missed Shipping Date for Christmas. Lied to by associate about package location/delivery date.

I ordered a Christmas present from overstock.com on the 18th with delivery promised by the 23rd. This would give me enough time to wrap the present for my girlfriend before I needed to leave an a plane that night. The tracking was still not updated by the 22nd, so I got scared and chatted with their associate online, who assured me that it would be deliered the following day and that the package was already in California, the tracking was just not updated yet. Although I was a little uneasy, this caused me to not go out and buy a replacement present. This was clearly a mistake, since I just checked the tracking and the package left South Carolina this afternoon! It will not be delivered to tomorrow, and I do not have a gift for Christmas! It would have been bad enough that the package was not delivered in time as promised originally, but to screw me out of the short amount of time I would have had to find a replacement gift by telling an outright lie is completely unacceptable! I have had packages be late, I have never written a negative review, but this horrible service deserves it..."

"I love Overstock! I usually only use this site for clothing, specifically coats because Overstock offers good name brands at low prices. The first time I ordered from Overstock, my coat arrived in less than two days! However, the second time, it took a week. I suppose their shipping is good, since it is free shipping, can't complain. The customer service is very helpful as well. The only downside is that they do not take exchanges, so if you do require an exchange, you have to get a refund and then buy whatever it is you want. Other than that, it's a great online retailer! The prepaid return shipping labels is definitely a plus!"

I ordered the futon mattress from them and got the shipping note the next day. Sounds good? Not at all.
One week has passed and the FeDex Tracking number is still not available. The customer service is nothing but a bunch of monkeys. "wait for another 24 hours", - that's all they are capable of . And then they would send you customer satisfactions form to fill in.
So far I don't have the mattress, no money and I'm out of options about what to do next. Take some legal actions against them?"

"I was surprised when I read all the negative reviews here. My wife and I have made a few purchases from Overstock, and we haven't had any serious problems (knock on wood).

My latest purchase was a Kelty backpack. It was a good price, and I had no problems with placing the order. It took two days to ship, and arrived in around 5. The item was well packed and arrived in perfect condition.

I've never had to deal with customer service, so maybe that's the key to my good experience, who knows. But for now, they're on my "OK" list."
