"I recently bought an NP8887 from powernotebooks.com and all I can say is they are the best company I have ever dealt with. Not just the best computer company, because they are definately that, but the best company period. If you are in the market for a notebook pc give them a look. Also, I dealt with Donald, the owner of the company, who made me feel like I was the only customer he had. The experience with powernotebooks.com was so personalized, they even sent me a follow up email after I have had the computer a few weeks just to make sure I had everything I wanted, and everything was working to my liking.

"Everything went perfectly until we received the notebook. The backlight was defective right out of the box. So we called their tech support and were immediately instructed to call Sager directly. Sager said that they'd ship us a new LCD screen that we could install. That was unacceptable to me, but the only other option they offered was us shipping the notebook back to them (sager, not powernotebook) at our own cost. After leaving numerous voice messages and an online support request to powernotebooks.com, we were finally contacted and told to once again contact Sager directly. Our purchasing officer spent two days calling powernotebooks.com until she got a direct number to one of their managers. Once we got ahold of the manager, he agreed to ship us a new laptop provided we mailed the old one back. In addition, he would credit us back the shipping cost.
I'm sure our issue is a rare one. We were taken care of quite well and very quickly, but only after we escalated it enough to get past their automated tech support and customer service reps. "

"Overall I'm quite pleased with my purchase. It arrived on time and its everything I wanted.
I got a Sager np 8887 which works like a dream. My only complaint is that the ATI video card included, while feature rich, is a little slow. However you can easily overclock 20MHz extra and your system will still be stable (from my experiences at least)
I most definitely will be returning here for purchasing my future notebooks. Prices are good (though sometimes they have this nasty habit of dropping a lot more right after you make a purchase ;) ) and the laptop arrived in time, and is more feature rich and stable than any computer I've ever had.
Last but not least Tech Support is great. Both Sager's and Powernotebooks. Driver updates are frequent and tech support emails are replied to in 2 days at most.
Needless to say, I wont be looking at Dells or Alienwares again. (The NP 8887 actually beats the renowned alienware m 51 in specs and features, and is way CHEAPER)"

I dealt with Joel Kleppinger.
The purchasing experience was great. He didn't try to pressure me or oversell me on anything, their prices for upgrades are very reasonable (unlike Dell who will try and charge you 3-5 times as much as any upgrade actually costs them). I asked him some tech questions to some more difficult tech questions, and although I didn't know the answer, I did know enough to know if he was just making something up or really giving me a good answer- he knew what he was talking about. Joel was very polite, helpful, and prompt is answer some questions and even letting me know about some laptops that would be released in the near future in case I wanted to wait to get everything I wanted in one laptop.
The laptop arrived very quickly. Not quite as quickly as I've seen Dell ship in the past, but they do have to take extra time for burn-in.
The laptop itself is great. This thing has more features than most desktop computers of the same price range. Anything and everything I could ever want to do as far as multimedia is concerned is built-in and very cleanly and reliably integrated. Performance has been nothing short of stellar. I ran a 7150 on 3D Mark 2001 benchmarks. To date I have only seen one desktop computer that could top that, and he had a brand new $350 video card. Application benchmarks are also great... I uploaded my stats to a Ziff-Davis benchmark database and didn't even find ONE other laptop out of several hundred that performed as well as mine overall. Heck, even most desktops were lagging behind this laptop.
I also run a program by United Device's cancer research that keeps my processor going 100% the entire time it's on. I've left this laptop running the program for as long as a week straight- it never once got hot or locked up... the cooling fans do a great job and are among the quietest I've ever heard on a laptop. A lot of this is because Sager\Powernotebooks.com uses desktop P4 processors. I was iffy about this at first, but I've found the battery life is still pretty good. Right around 2 hours. Sometimes lower, sometimes higher depending on what I'm doing.
An interesting fact that many people may not realize is that AlienWare, a very popular brand name with computer geeks like me, sells a few notebook computers. I did a little side-by-side comparison and noticed they are actually reselling Sager notebooks with the AlienWare logo on them and a fancy paintjob on top. On average, with identical specs, I found that AlienWare charges a 800-1,000 premium over Powernotebooks.com minus the fancy paint and name.
The only two disappointments I have in this laptop is that:
-It's VERY heavy. It's over 12 pounds, and while the difference between 12 and 7 may not seem like much... it's the difference in being able to comfortably carry the notebook in one hand, and not being able to. But I guess with such heavy-duty hardware and a 15.7" screen, it's to be expected.
-The build-quality of the case that the laptop is housed in is somewhat sub-par. Dell, Gateway, Sony, and especially Apple laptops have a noticably 'tight' feel to to them. The shell of the laptop, the screen, the keyboard, touchpad, and other components act as one whole unit. I've noticed on this laptop that whenever I rest my wrist on the front (in order to type) that it kind of squeeks\groans. I've also noticed that when I open and close the screen that it kind of sounds bad - a lot of tiny 'cracking' noises as if I'm putting too much pressure on the center of the screen when closing it from the top.
But then again, I drive a 99 Lexus GS400 - a car that people say has arguably the best build quality available, and I still hear rattles when I go over bumps on cold mornings. So you could just say I'm picky. :P
Overall a great buy for the money, and so far it has been very reliable. 10 out of 10 unless you're a build-quality freak like me and then 9.9 out of 10. ;)"

All the necessary drivers are provided and the installation was smooth sailing for the most part. Just remember to read Chapter 4 before installing the hardware. Remember to pop out the built in MP3 player before installing the OS (otherwise your MP3 player will receive the C drive designation—its not a big deal but I prefer to keep it standard)."
