"Ordered a salad fork and butter knife that came for a set of sterling silver that was short the two pieces. The items came as expected and looked new. After getting these two pieces it makes me want to have the rest of the set professionally polished. "
"I had 2 Waterford Olympia crystal 29.75” lamps in mint condition, original shades, green seahorse stickers and even original tags with description. I received an offer of $150 each for them and as I was moving and downsizing packaged them up and intended to send through Pirateship. Found that they do not accept UPS so took to FedEx. 1st trip to FedEx it was going to cost $100 but was told if boxes were smaller it would be less got to $70. Heard from Replacements shortly that the lamps were not the 29” lamps that they quoted instead they were 27”. Now remember I had sent them the tags but not before taking pictures of everything before shipping. They reviewed and said “we measure lamps differently” and reduced the offer to $110 each so with shipping and reduced offer I made $150 total for the pair. Got check one week ago, my lamps are listed on the website today for $499 each! Dishonest snake oil salesmen!! I hope my lamps never sell!!!"
"I wished I could have seen this review before I went ahead with a purchase. One month later, still no product. I think I will call law enforcement on them, not that they will shut them down, but it's a start!"
"As other reviewers have indicated, you may pack your perfect condition items appropriately with sufficient packing materials but Replacements Ltd will tell you in the assessment they make that the items are excessively scratched, broken, chipped, etc.. The crystal I sent them had never been used but surprise, surprise, the most expensive pieces had excessive scratches and the offer price was reduced by 25%. Stay away from this company, they will rip you off every time!"
"I'd heard fairly good things about Replacements.com and did not expect them to **** me around. One day after emailing them pix of a vintage Noritake serving bowl set with four smaller bowls in great condition, that was not on their site, they emailed me an "Offer to Purchase". I read through several paragraphs about how to ship the set to them and looked for their offer. It was buried in an attachment included in the email, and said they did NOT want to purchase the items. So why email me an Offer to Purchase with detailed shipping directions? Just send email saying you don't want to buy. Don't lead me on. I hate scammers."
"If you like paying high prices for chipped and dirty dishes...then go to them.
Or if you want to sell them they will replace your perfect pieces for junk and dirty ones.
BEWARE"
"I have four sets of antique China. When I look on their website they're selling it for a 50% markup or more low balled everything I own and I live a half hour away since they low balled it I have to ship it. Not cost effective worth my effort in time"
"I have been a Replacements STAR SUPPLIER since 2008. I purchase china & crystal for them through Estate Sales & Auctions. Not only is cost of goods competitive but the shipping costs run in the thousands. UPS pulled out and we are only left with FEDEX which refuses to honor any claims that arise from shipping to Replacements. I reached the end of my rope today and will be severing my relationship with Replacements. Background: I use new boxes, peanuts, foam, dividers and shrink wrap and I DOUBLE Box everything without ever exceeding the “burst weight” of each box, yet it never fails that my mint condition estate china always seems to arrive with chips or breakage. Result: Fedex has locked my account and will no longer accept my claims. I can still ship through FEDEX but can no longer expect a claim to be honored. Thanks Replacements. Nicely done. You have destroyed a 22 year relationship between my company and FEDEX because you refuse to accept any responsibility for the handling of items. UPS was smart to pull out. I always suspected that I was not the only one to experience excessive damage claims on my shipments to Replacements, but now I am convinced. Good luck finding another supplier in my area. I am done!"
"This was the biggest disappointment ever. I worked so hard, getting all of my Dept 56 village pieces together, making sure all of the accessories were with the houses. I kept back any pieces that were damaged or had missing parts. I loaded my car up and drove 10 hrs to Greensboro, NC to drop them off. I waited 2 weeks and when the total they would pay me came, it was about 1/3 what I expected based on their offer list. They marked things down for missing accessories - um, no. They said my Mickey house was faded. I had never displayed it. It was a gift and I do not care for Mickey in my village. There is no way it was faded. What am I supposed to do? Drive 10 hrs there again to discuss it with them? The prices they did pay on some pieces was not the price listed in the offer. Nope. Give me the tiny check and no thank you in the future. I will not be purchasing or selling to this place ever again!!! "
"They require/recommend a massive amount of packaging that ends up costing a fortune in shipping because the box is huge! Then after all that, they claimed items were damaged in shipping. As others have said, if you want your "damaged" items back, you must pay for the shipping costs. In the end, these transactions ended up costing me money!!! GRRRRRR
Use Ebay, I should've followed my instincts as I've sold dishes there with no issue. These particular dishes were fine china and I mistakenly thought, I'd get better payback with Replacements...."
"I bought a few plates based on their description on the website. When I received them, they turned out to be NOT microwave-safe as said on the bottom of the plates. According to their draconian return policy, even though it is clearly their mistake omitting to state this basic fact in the product description, I was required to pay for shipping it back to them. The product arrived in a box 3-4 times the size of the product. While I appreciated the thorough packing, returning a box of that size costs at least as much as what I paid for the product. Customer Service was condescending trying to shift the blame on me. It also didn't matter that I was a repeat customer. I'll donate the plates to a charity and will never deal with these penny-pinchers again."
"I submitted pictures with full descriptions for an offer listing. What you get back is not an offer for your pieces but a list of prices they pay for all items in that category . At the top of the column with the price it states Offer (Piece or Set) but they do not indicate which the price below is for. When you call they say it is per piece but since they do not clearly put that in writing it leaves them the opening to say the price is per set rather than piece after you ship. Don't expect a clear quote or answer. "
"We have been ordering from Replacements since they were on paper only, completing several sets of china and crystal. This time I misspoke in an email when they notified me a couple items were no longer available. (I had waited a couple months to order.) I received emails over the weekend notifying me they had shipped what I had mistakenly requested. I belatedly replied to Juliana expecting to go through the typical problems with back-and-forth, returns, etc. encountered with just about everyone's customer service. Monday she replied they understood and had corrected and shipped the correct order. Yay!
P.S. They have the best website ever!"
"Man. Do i feel like an idiot. I always read the reviews but this time i didnt. I also didnt get insurance because i went to uhaul bought packaging materials and packaged the dishes like they were going to war. I was suppose to get a few dollars shy of 400.00 for what i sent. It cost 70.00 to ship. They told me almost all the dishes were broke and offered me 67.00. Isnt that funny just under enough to not be able to ship them back. I was so mad. i wanted to just pay the money to get back broken dishes just so they couldnt have them. My boss said take the check and let it go. Chalk it up for lesson learned. Quite the little scam. Shame on you. You would think they would take video of unpacking your stuff. Niki Swanson"
"I will say my first time selling to them there were no issues. I got paid for exactly what I expected but was not too happy with how long it took to get a payment but I figured it was the mail. When i first contated them with question about selling to them I mentioned that i had other pieces i was looking to sell as well but wanted to see how the first process went. I am going to say they do have a great indentification tools to help ensure the item you have is the one in the offer. they also are very clear on how to best protect the items and tips on how to wrap them. I aslo will say ive gotten what offered so theres that. HOWEVER the issue i am having is the fact that they take there time sending payments. Whats even more unsettling is they post you items befor they are paid for and if you mention it they say you already agreed as per the the offer to buy and acceptiing the paynment amount. While yes that is true however that is only upon Payment has been recieved and verified. The agreement is not valid until payment is recieved NOT only issued. The reason they state once you accept the offer its thiers is to stop people from trying to get thier items back when they see hoe much they are selling for to what they paid you only. It has been over a week since i gotten a recipt of sale. All items should not be promoted or put for sale until they are owned. that offer to purchase means NOTHING until they meet thier own oblignations. Its not until that check is singed the agreement is vaild. The fact that they do this shows reason to doubt their busniess ethics. Maybe they only pay you once they sell the item and anything that isnt sold "arrived broken". How many of the items they sell are stolen? There is no way to know if the person is who they say it is until they go to the bank and are on camera doing so. Based on the fact it took my items only 2 days to get there but over a week for a envelope to arrive leaves me to believe they do said things. To be clear this is AFTER waiting for them to send confermation of arrivail and the time it takes to be inspected and evlauated. I has been over a week since i was informed the payment was sent! That is not possible. They CANNOT leave the possibility to sell an item before its paid for. I believe thats selling something that they them have stolen from you."
