Wrong hitch

"I needed a trailer hitch for my 2015 Outlander so after some shopping around I found it on Rockauto, I’m thinking great, I’ve ordered thousands of dollars worth of parts off them and I needed fast as I’m trying to leave to another state with a tow behind cart. A day and a half later it arrives but after a quick inspection and reading the installation paperwork (it was for a Ford) it is obviously the wrong one and now I’m a day and a half behind my scheduled departure date. I call immediately to return and order the correct one. To my surprise there is no live people to work with so I go through the process and again to my surprise they basically blame me for ordering the wrong one and make me pay for part of the return shipping. Later I found out that they didn’t refund the shipping cost to me so I’m out $35 due to their mistake and it took 4 days for the correct one to come putting my family and I way behind on leaving. Never again Rocky Auto!"

Item shipped damaged, they tell me nothing they can do.

"I had a hood I ordered that took two weeks longer to arrive than stated.

I paid a lot of money to have it shipped.

The package box was destroyed upon arrival. On delivery the guy apologized. We took it out and looked at in the bright sun in the parking lot in 90 degree heat here in Florida and we both missed a dent in the hood. My mistake right. I missed it, I mean the thing is black and I'm in the hot sun. So, I took this part and unfortunately signed not seeing the damage. Later that week I took out the hood to install (was delivered to me on a Monday), on Friday of that week and noticed it. When I went online and reported they said it was beyond the 4 days to report the damage. I thought ok, well at least I can call the company and they will make it right. NOPE. I spoke to a guy from Rock Auto and he reminded me of their strict policy and they offered me nothing. IN MY OPINION IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO GET THE PRODUCT TO ME UNDAMAGED. THE GD SHIPPING COST OVER $200. This company is worthless. NEVER WILL I EVER ORDER ANYTHING AGAIN FROM THESE PEOPLE AND I WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO TELL PEOPLE NEVER TO ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY.

This is a load of crap. Now I'm out 300 dollars and a damaged useless hood.

SCREW YOU ROCK AUTO. You know you are wrong and you should do the right thing here. SCREW YOU.

"They sent me the wrong parts, this was not discovered until the parts were being installed. After spending a small fortune on shipping to get the correct parts and RockAuto admitted to sending the wrong parts, still refused to refund some of the parts because they had been partially installed and none of the shipping cost.

And they get away with it because they have no face or **** to put a boot in.

Going forward, RockAuto will be my very last choice for online parts.

For mechanics, you'll get an excellent deal

"I have been ordering from Rock Auto for years. The main reason I'm writing a review is because I was shocked at how many bad reviews there were. Clearly, those people have NO mechanical knowledge or any idea how to work on a vehicle. This website is for home mechanics and people who know what they are doing. Additionally, if your complaining about the site configuration then get the flipping out of a computer, it is unbelievably easy. If you want to work on your vehicle from home and can manage to do so (I know this ability is being lost in recent years) then Rock Auto is for you. They offer amazing prices and although I despise FedEx, the shipping prices aren't too bad. I check every purchase against various retailers (yes you can use the part number on Google, and I'm also considering Amazon). 9/10 they beat every other purchase. All these WHINERS need to learn how to work on their own vehicles.

Been ordering parts for almost 10 years and will continue to do so. Thanks Rock Auto, saved me a ton of money in the long run.

I won't give them 1 star but I had to in order to write a review

"Buyer beware!! I find it funny how this company has tons of Facebook reviews but none of them are negative. They somehow have 845 BBB Complaints and tons of other bad reviews on several different sites.

This company has no customer service contact and no where to email a question or complaint especially if your order is over 30 days. I ordered a part for my Monte Carlo (wasn't something that needed to be fixed right away, more of a project part) it was after 30 days I realized that the part I ordered and the one they sent were different. the description and picture online were right, the part they sent was totally different. So they sent the wrong part and now I'm stuck with it. I am not one to blast a company for bad business practice but after reading the tons of BBB complaints of the same thing it was worth my review. Sometimes cheap is not better, stick with your local auto parts company at least you can talk to them

Been using for years, love them

"I am surprised with all the hate at rockauto, I have been using them for years, only place i get my car parts, have spent probably close to $10,000 with them. They have always been great. Got a part that didnt fit my truck once, filled out the online questionaire thing, got a refund without even having to return the part! Had 4 brake calipers as cores, had questions on how to return them, they answered all my questions (on the phone) and did all the work for me other than pack up the cores! I love rock auto, being from Canada, they make it so easy to order from too, no extra fees. I only buy quality oem or name brand parts on rockauto though, maybe that is your guys issue, going after the cheap no name crap.! I have built up quite the magnet collection! Get a magnet of a classic car with every order!"

easy to order but customer service is only via e-mail.

"they make ordering so easy, seem legit as they are all over commercials but have to use e-mail if any missing parts/incorrect parts. It does work though; get parts very quickly; the last package I ordered was missing one of two bushings and they just sent me a replacement with both bushings without having to send the "box with only one bushing/missing one bushing" back to them. They do only have a 30 day return window so you HAVE to make sure your order is correct within the time period. So, overall- good quality US made Delco bushings; quick shipping; made my order correct after contacting them to let them know a part was missing. Even the online return process was pretty self explanatory and worked. I am really not used to NOT being able to call someone but their system does seem to work I guess. "

Almost impossible to get help.

"Ordered a complete new brake system for my f350. The parts came fast.... price was great. Packaging was less than great and most boxes were ripped and torn.. and it went downhill from there. Their core return system is a NIGHTMARE and cost me a lot of money. They WILL NOT accept calls. Thier instructions are confusingly confounding. Not sure the good price upfront is worth the hassle at the back end."

Knock off Monroe shocks

"Purchase Monroe shocks that were not originals , they were knock offs with the Monroe name, Rockauto said to bad, we thought they were originals, the paint peeled off and they failed after 2000 easy miles, purchase originals Monroe’s from the chain store auto parts , same shock , but originals , be carefully what you buy, you will save money, but might receive knock off junk."

Great until something goes wrong

"I have had good experiences with Rockauto over many years but they seem to have gone bad. Currently waiting for a part that I coordinated to arrive the week I could do the work on my vehicle. Everything else arrived in a few days, Rockauto part has still not shipped over a week after ordering. Like many others, I thought, "this is like Amazon - you call and they sort it out. NOPE! they don't want you to call, they don't want to offer any solution, they just stonewall you.

I ordered the part from Autozone after waiting over a week. Got it for the same price and I am nearly certain it will be here well before rockauto even ships, if they ever do.

The problem is their business model where they don't stock anything, they just use other suppliers to ship directly to you. Everything depends on their suppliers and they are not interested in fulfilling their agreement with you the customer. As soon as something goes wrong, you are SOL.

After ten years of using RockAuto, I see how they are currently operating, and it's purely mercenary. I won't buy from them again unless I have no other reasonable source. Then I will know that it's a crap shoot as to whether I'll get the correct part or if they will even ship it out.

"Bought Arnott airbags replacement for our Land Rover Range rover, by the time it got here it didn’t have correct bushings, so it leaked, I had to reorder another bag paid full price on both orders and cant return first order, I've spent 4000 this year alone with rock auto, there's no customer service to help with anything. I will never order anything with these guys again.... soooooooooooo please read the fine print before they stick it in your **** "

Would give zero stars if possible.

"Bought a throttle position sensor for a 91 Volvo 240 they sent a part that does not fit or bolt up. It was only about 9$ Plus shipping but I can’t seem to get ahold of a human on the phone just get a voicemail saying they don’t offer customer service over the phone. They are STILL selling the incorrect part. The correct OEM one is 42 I think. Should have just paid a little extra for a correct part. Got burned about 15$ I suppose in total plus my time removing the old tps sensor only to find the new one is not even close. I do a lot of auto repair on my cars and family members. Will Never use rock auto again. I’ve found a lot of nightmare stories from other people who got burned far worse then me. Beware!!"

Charged me postage for a return that was their fault

"I ordered an a/c control valve that said it would fit my car. It did not. I contacted them and they said that this part did not fit a car outside California but they had just become aware of this. They said I could return the part but charged me postage for the return. Also I ordered the part overnight express for $22.00 so I am also out that money. Crappy policy"
