4 HOURS OF SHOP WORK @ $50/HR =$200, QUITE FAIR FOR THESE DAYS.

"This was the first order I placed with ROCKAUTO.COM. I ordered a pair of rear brake calipers that were "loaded", which I assumed included the pads (which they were)and ready to "bolt-on". One of my OEM caliper bolts were "semi-cross threaded" when I last replaced the worn out pads(this is how I discovered that the calipers were "sticking" thus resulting in placing this order). "Long story short: When they mess-up, it's your fault. Read other reviews, this is a common problem.
I have purchased probably fifty items from rockauto.com over the years, with no problems. They are generally cheaper than other stores and ship quickly. All-in-all, they are great to buy from, when they don't make a mistake. But lord help you when THEY do make a mistake. In my case, they listed a part for my vehicle that clearly doesn't fit my vehicle. There catalog listed the part, with others, and said they would all fit my exact year and engine. I found out that this was incorrect when I went to install the purchased part. It didn't even come close to fitting. When I emailed customer service about the issue, they said the vendor site stated that the part was for the old body style. When I asked why their listing didn't mention this I got no response. After waiting a few days for the service rep. at rockauto.com to resolve the issue and getting no follow-up responses, I emailed service again. This time, a new service rep. emailed me saying their catalog listed the part correctly as being for the old body style, and the mistake was mine. Long story short, after my second complaint, they changed the listing and said that I made the mistake. The only mistake I made was not making a copy of the listing to prove their dishonesty. I can't believe a company would do this. I would rather pay more and do business with a reputable company."
"I have dealt with Rock Auto in the past and they were very reliable. However this time there was an issue.
Last Friday (Jan. 29), I ordered parts online and I made a mistake. I ordered qty 2 each of 2 different items when I really needed qty 4 each of the 2 different items. I realized the mistake as soon as I received the order confirmation on the website (not email, but the screen after your order is placed). I called Rock Auto right away and asked to add 2 of each item to be added to my order so they could be added to my shipment. Remember, this is within minutes of my order online. I received a confirmation email saying that that it was shipped and had the 2 extra parts were on that email.
This morning, Tuesday (Feb.2), I get a phone call saying that the extra parts were in fact NOT shipped and that I would be credited and I would have to reorder the missing parts.
This is all fine for them, give me a credit and charge me for the missing parts AND the shipping.
I live in Canada; I have to drive 45 mins. to go pickup my shipment just across the border. I have already started removing the old parts and my truck is now in pieces in the garage and cannot be moved so I have to order the parts "next day service" which is quite a bit more expensive. The credit to my credit card will be the amount of the charged parts, but the exchange rate is more than on a purchase so I'm losing money.
What did I EXPECT them to do? Simple, acknowledge there was an oversight and ship the parts expedited to me. It’s almost too simple. I’ve already paid for the parts, put them in a box and send them to me as fast as you can.
Is it a lot to ask? No, I don't think so. You said you were shipping the parts, you even confirmed it by email. Then 4 days (2 business days) later you tell me you DID NOT.
Pay the price of good business. For a mere $20 of shipping they would have earned my respect.
Instead, they burn their reputation by NOT doing "the right thing".
Unsatisfied this time.
*******ISSUE UPDATE******

I went to pickup my orders last night, and received 2 small boxes, both of which contain the same thing...the extra parts I ordered. NOT THE ENTIRE FIRST ORDER in one box and SECOND ORDER in another!!!
So I am missing parts. When I call Rock Auto at 7PM warehouse is closed..."we'll call you back tomorrow". OK fine. So I get a call today saying “well, we can ship them today GROUND or we can credit you and you can get them locally”. So I point it out that that is completely unreasonable and they should be shipped to me EXPIDITED TODAY. Again, I get the "I'll see what I can do" line. There is no “I'll see what I can do”. PUT THE PARTS IN A BOX AND SHIP THE PARTS AS FREAKIN’ FAST AS YOU CAN...AND DO IT NOW. It's not MY mistakes (2 of them so far), it’s theirs. Bite the bullet and fix the mistakes! As a person in business myself, I KNOW sometimes you have to eat it. It sucks, but when you goof, you pay. It’s simple math called “The cost of doing business”. You don’t want to pay? Stop making mistakes or STOP DOING BUSINESS. The part that seems almost idiotic is that it all about $20 shipping. How much will it cost them in the end?
As for the “we’ll credit you” part, it's really easy to just issue a credit. It's almost no work at all. Push a few buttons on the credit card machine and everything is FIXED FOR THEM. I am left holding the bag for their incompetence.
Their reply makes it seem as though there are SORRY. But SORRY doesn't fix MY TRUCK. Yes I can get the parts locally...they are more expensive and have to be special ordered ANYWAY! That’s the reason I ordered from Rock Auto in the first place.
What is my goal in writing this? To remind Rock Auto that without CUSTOMERS there is no BUSINESS. And sometimes you have to “do the right thing” to make a client happy. The first mistake I bit the bullet and paid the price only to get the shaft yet again.
Come on, do it right. Send me my parts, send them expedited so I get them tomorrow and finish my truck before the weekend. If you do, I’ll even edit my post to reflect your efforts.
*******FINAL ISSUE UPDATE******
I did receive my parts next day as promised (more like assumed, but anyway) and all parts execpt the O2 sensor were installed and were EXACTLY what was ordered and CORRECT. The O2 sensor seems to be the correct part but has not been installed yet.
Price and quality have NEVER been my issue. The parts I received were top notch, correct, and inexpensive.
In retrospect, had I just placed another order and paid the second shipping charge I suppose I would have gotten all my parts without issue.
