"I placed an order with rock auto on sunday afternoon online. They received and processed the order on March 20th. I had called them on the 20th early enough to stop shipment of the package. I was told that the label had already been printed and the package was shipping out that day. I called fed ex whom they were shipping it with and put a stop shipment order on the package then called rockauto back and told them what was transpiring. I did this beacause i was able to get the part locally after extensive research online. I went to a local napa store and got it for less with out the cost of shipping. After speaking with jim at rock auto i was advised that the package was going to be shipped anyway. I explained to them that it would be refused and to save themselves the money on the shipping. I immediately called fed ex to see if they had picked up the package and was told no it was still in rock auto's warehouse the driver did not pick it up yet. Again I called rock auto and told them exactly what i was told by fed ex 2hours went by and i received a phone call telling me they did ship the package. After my explicit instructions not to ship it. I would not recommend them to anyone for anything. I received the package at my door and called fedex and told them this package was not suppose to be at my door they were suppose to return it to the shipper and i was refusing the package. They in turn have to this day 04/13/2010 to refund my money. service reps over there are not reliable nor are they courtious. on a scale of 1 to 10 for over all customer satisfaction i would have to give them a minus 10. UPDATE.... They waited the full 5 days to refund my money which was not in full. according to them so BUYER BEWARE OF THE HASSLES. To resovle this refund issue i disputed the charge at my bank and refunded the full amount. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY UNTIL THEY CHANGE THEIR POLICIES!!!!!!!!!"

"Good so far. Just ordered about a hundred bucks worth of stuff. For 21 bucks in shipping, I can drive to town and get it and have a burger too. The shipping better be pretty fast for that price. Have not tried returns. "

They sent what I expected, specially one sensor that other internet sites do not mentioned for a Chevy Avalanche with an electrical adjustment on the accelerator pedal.

"Bought set of 8 Champion 7989 spark plugs for Mustang on Dec 22 2009. Installed plugs April 1st 2010 after Mustang taken out of storage. Found one plug defective - conical ceramic cylinder had dropped down and covered the spark area. RockAuto has sold me a defective spark plug. Rockauto has policy that after 30 days they will do nothing other than utilize manufacturer's warranty, but this will entail shipping charges to send the defective plug back and shipping charges for the replaced plug which costs to me will exceed the value of the plug. A photograph of the defective part will not do. Also they will not ship to the billing address which is in Canada - only to the shipping address in Montana USA where I have to drive 130 mile round trip just to pick up the spark plug adding more expense to RockAuto's solution to my dilemma. I know that RockAuto will come back with all their policy response, which I acknowledge is there - but if anyone is expecting any goodwill from RockAuto, I assure you - it wont be there. It's not like I'm trying to defraud them of a boatload of spark plugs - just trying to replace the defective one they sold me.

In the under noted response from RockAuto they construe strict adherence to their policies as "good will". I guess as long as it doesn't affect their bottom line, to them that's good will. In my books "good will" is when a corporation goes that extra little bit to ensure a satisfied customer. As well by causing extra financial burden on a customer it's unlikely that any customer, whether in Canada such as I, or in the USA would bother to pay more than a faulty part is worth for replacement. "Let the buy beware" adage is alive and well."

"Generally, I've had good experience with them - although their suppliers do need to use better quality control and more substantial packaging.
On the positive,they are generally the cheapest and have a great selection of parts.
I was a little disappointed with my last order - I was contacted and told some parts were out of stock. Fine, but a little annoying.
I called about getting a substitution. Great, but they wanted to charge me extra for shipping, as they were at an "outlying" warehouse. Now, I run a business, and if it was me, I would have eaten the shipping costs to keep the customer happy, especially since my order was already being charged shipping twice for 2 items from 2 different locations - this would have been the 3rd shipping charge, and also since this is my 5th or 6th order with them.
However, this glitch aside (I have reordered the parts from them anyway, as I am too lazy to go to the local store), they are very good.
Dropped a star because of this latest incident.
My advice: Don't alienate loyal customers over a $10 shipping charge!"

"Received my part quickly. The price was good, but after shipping it was about break even or a little more expensive than buying it locally. Sure, I didn't have to go to AutoZone or O'Reilly and pay sales tax, but I did have to plan ahead and order the part before I needed it. So instead of the money going into my state's very dry treasury to support necessary government programs, it went to UPS. Not sure that's where I want my money to go. If the shipping charges come down and the parts prices go down, I'll be back. RockAuto is the only online parts retailer I trust. They have always had the parts I need at the best price, and I've been very satisfied with their customer service, communication, and online ordering system. If I buy parts online, they're definitely coming from RockAuto."
