"Excellent prices, very good (and patient) salespersons. I ordered a Sony HXR-NX3D1 3D camcorder from Ryther this morning, but because their website included multiple packages with varying prices, I called their toll-free number and spoke at length with Steve Warren in their sales department. Steve was extremely helpful to me in sorting out the options and selecting just what I needed. I was very pleased with his assistance, and am satisfied that I made the right decision in purchasing from Steve and RytherCamera."

"During the process of buying a Canon T3i I came across a recommendation by friend to use Steve Warren. I was very pleased with that decision to us as he went above and beyond to help me choose the best camera that fits my needs. He was very knowledgeable about the technical aspects about the cameras to help me make a better informed decision about what to purchase.

"Item (Sony lens) was as expected -processed, shipped and received quickly. My only complaint is the product page advertises: "Buy and lens and receive a lens cleaning kit and lens pouch for free."Maybe it is an old promo ad banner, I asked about it with an online associate (Eli)and he was unclear about any promotion and unaware of the promotional message on their website. I decided to order any way, the product was exactly what I was looking for and the price was fair. However, the cleaning kit and lens pouch were not received. I would probably re-order again, but would not put a lot of stock into their promotional messages, packages or "extras". "

"These people in a word SUCK. I ordered a Nikon 3200 on the 8-Mar-2013, only to have them send me a message saying they were having a problem with my card. While on the phone my order went from $424 to well over $600. When I asked why that was, the helpful man had added a whole lot of overpriced stuff to my order. I did keep the extra battery he added and agreed to pay $520ish. (They wanted to sell me a 32 GB memory card for $70+ and I bought two from Newegg from $40.) So today is 19-Mar-2013 and I have still seen neither hide nor hair of my new camera. I do not recommend these people, they are shysters, and I will never use them again.

OK - Perhaps I flew off the handle quite a bit there. Victor from Ryther camera called and we had a long discussion. Yes, the camera is the European version, but it is EVERYTHING I expected. Plus, as i travel to Europe for work, having all the adapters and such really is not a bad thing. In short, I have completely changed my Opinion of Ryther Camera and do indeed recommend them. I do have to give them low marks on the shipping, but perhaps they can do better in the future.

"I purchased a camcorder filter kit from Rythercamera.com before I purchased the camcorder. Since the price tag for the camcorder is pretty high for my budget, I decide to get a cheaper model which will make the filter kit useless. Rythercamera agreed to give me a full refund even it passed their 21 days RMA period. Feel safe to buy from them."

"Really happy with my purchase from Ryther Camera. All the staff go above and beyond to help you out. I didn't know much about cameras but they were willing to spend the time to help me out and educate me. Their prices are very competitive which is the original reason for making my purchase. But after placing an order and talking on the phone with these guys it made my purchase even more worth it. They are very professional and courteous; they truly want to make sure you are happy with your purchase. Shipping is also very fast. I will definitely be back to make a purchase in the future when I need more equipment. Thanks!"

"BEWARE! I read almost all of the reviews for this place (and there are a lot) and I decided that the discount was worth the hassle. I knew to expect upselling on the phone, long shipping waits, and hassles. But I have learned my mistake. STAY AWAY FROM RYTHER.

Customer service is appalling. Like I read in some reviews, they promise to call/write back, and they never do.

I placed an order for a 5dmiii on 3/1. The call came the next day, as I expected from reading previous reviews. They didn't do much of an upsell, and I know cameras so they didn't push too hard. The deal we settled was a US model for only 200$ more than the import model, which was still 500$ less than everywhere else. They sent a paypal request right away, but their invoice only stated "5Dmarkiii with battery and charger" and didn't specify if it was a US model or not. I don't like taking more risks than I need, so I at least wanted "USA model" on the invoice, so I don't get an import model sent "accidentally". I called them and they said they would change it that day. Guess what? They didn't. I wasn't going to pay them until they made the invoice changes they promised. A few days later, I get a call saying they hadn't received payment. I said that's because I didn't get the updated invoice I was promised. SURPRISE: they sent me an updated invoice in 5 minutes. Customer service is shaaaaaaady.

So I paid them, waited a few days, and then saw they shipped my item. HERE'S THE CATCH, and everyone should be aware. If you PAY extra for the shipping to be insured (which I did), there are all these restrictions on the shipping. It's a "direct signature delivery" which means you MUST be home to sign it. That might not be a big deal to some, but I work 6 days a week, get home after 9pm every night, have my day off on Sunday which Fedex does as well.

It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I called Fedex 4 times today. I am not allowed to change where the delivery goes to (like a friends house). I can't even tell them to hold it at a Fedex location for me to pick up later. It's coming here tomorrow, and I'm going to get a "missed you" slip. I'll get one on Saturday too. Then one on Monday and it'll get shipped BACK to Ryther Camera.

I called Ryther to tell them to contact Fedex and take away some of the restrictions. When dealing with a shady company, the last thing you want is for the item to go BACK to them, and have to deal with this problem all over again. They PROMISED me that someone would contact Fedex for me TODAY to clear it up. I called Fedex again tonight, and no, Ryther didn't call them. I didn't expect them to either.

So I haven't even received my package yet, but it's worth a few hundred extra just for peace of mind and great customer service. I'll update my rating/review as the story unfolds. What a nightmare.
