"Delivery date was missed apparently due to shipping issue from the factory. Customer support was quick and efficient. Although I cancelled the order the customer service staff did return phone calls and e-mails in a timely, professional manner."

James was very accommodating and helpful and actually upgraded my order at no additional charge. "As an update to my original review:

I received a courteous telephone call from Kevin apologizing for the ordering experience and follow-on delay in shipping the item I had ordered. To my satisfaction, he explained an issue with suppliers and available stock of the discontinued product and agreed to refund my money immediately. I told him that I was indeed aware of the discontinued item prior to attempting to order from Ryther Camera. As a good-faith gesture, Kevin agreed to work with me to obtain a good price on the newer model replacement once it hits the market. While I've had no actual order completion through Rhyther Camera, I am happy with this additional effort of customer service on the part of Kevin and will increase my rating, accordingly, to be fair.

Based on any future order (and receipt of product) through Ryther Camera, I will edit this rating, once again, to reflect the completed service.






I'll begin by saying that I just got off the phone with a Ryther representative, so I have only the ordering experience to guide my review, thus far. Depending upon my follow-on experience, I may increase (or decrease) my rating, accordingly.

I placed my order on-line last night - a bit tentatively, I might add. Based on several reviews highlighting bait-and-switch tactics, I wondered if I would get a follow-on telephone call "confirming" my order, as others have indicated. Sure enough! First thing in the morning I received a call from James, "confirming" my order and then (very quickly) launching into a hard-sell for (1) upgraded battery, (2) warranty, and (3) USA model versus Japan model - just as others have said. Fortunately, being made aware of this tactic, I held firm and asked him to send me exactly what I ordered (under my Order Number). Without much additional pressure, he agreed and proceeded to give me a shipping date: 2 weeks. I asked why it takes so long to ship via USPS. He said, "It just does." When I asked for a shipping notifications, he said they don't give one. I asked why not. He said, "We just don't." Of course, I have been made aware of this from previous reviews, so I wasn't surprised. Overall, James' attitude was not very professional, as it seemed as though it was a chore for him to do business with me. I never received a "Thank You" for my order, so I must assume that this is accepted practice by Ryther.

Right now, I'm giving 2 stars, based on my customer service experience (I'm giving James the benefit of the doubt that he simply had a bad day). If I receive my camera within 2-3 weeks and it is as described, I will increase my rating, as the price was good. However, if I get any additional follow-up calls or e-mail indicating that there is any shipping "problem", I will cancel this order immediately. I don't need the camera that badly and I have little patience with this sort of thing. I also have an excellent relationship with my large national Credit Union, who will cancel the credit card payment with all due alacrity.

"I have mixed feelings about this merchant. There was an issue with a rep. When I brought it up to another rep. I was treated very well, and the issue was resolved. One of the items was shipped and then recalled before delivery.This I blamed on the first rep. Was told it was defective. Then they sold me up on a new rather than used item. Bait and switch? I dont know, it just looked bad.They seem to dislike the free shipping eventhough they offer it,then try to sell you on the other options. All in all, I would give them another chance in the future.

"Ryther Camera provided me with the best pricing on our Canon Rebel T3i after searching the internet for great deals. We purchased a custom package that included the camera body, a specific lens we were looking for, a 3 year accidental warrenty for both the camera body and lens, a UV filter, camera back pack, memory card, extra battery. I would greatly recommend Ryther for your next digital camera or camera equipment purchase!"

"This is a 4 that is an average of 6 stars from price and 2 from everything else. I bought a high end camera [NikonD600+kit] at a fantastic price; the usual thing happened, they first tried to sell me a warranty/extra batteries/memory card etc. As I refused they bluntly ended the conversation. I had paid extra 50$ to have it shipped in 3 days, but it took 6 working days. In this time I have had to call again a couple of time and finally I talked to a guy, Kevin, who was very helpful. The camera is great, it was just a bit of a hassle..."
