"11/15/12 Review Update: After my review below I was contacted by one of the owners, Victor. He was very polite and respectful and seemed genuinely interested in understanding my complaints. He apologized for his employees and informed me that one of them (the rude one) had been since fired. He assured me that the company's goal is to provide excellent good service and explained all the initiatives they are implementing to improve it. He offered compensating me with a 3 year extended warranty free of charge. I accepted and I got in the mail promptly. I just registered and it went through. Victor was honest and straight forward and he delivered what he promised. I will give them another chance in the future. They indeed have the best prices for cameras and lenses in the market.
Original Review: If you are willing to treat with the world's rudest customer service and a company full of tricks to try to get more money out of you, go ahead and order from them. I got a Nikon D7000, I have to say, got it cheaper than other places but was it worth the aggravation? First, they never sent me a confirmatory email, so be SURE to print your order. They did call me the next day to "confirm" the order. He asked if I really wanted the imported version (?). I found out that the USA made version was being sold for the same higher price than everybody else. I asked for the differences and after yelling at me for not looking well in the website he said: warranty.(I looked later and all it says is "imported" they do NOT offer the USA made and do NOT explain the lack of warranty). According to him, the imported version didn't have a US warranty but a Japan warranty, where he said the camera was manufactured; thinking about my savings I went for it. He then asked me if I "really" wanted the battery that came with the kit, a "decent" battery would cost an extra $150 (approx, I don't exactly remember) but the charge would last much longer. All these things were said as if it was an annoyance for him to deal with me. He would not listen to my whole questions, he would talk on top of me and he would make smart remarks about my questions and my choices. I had to stop him and remind him that I was the client and it was my money I was giving to them. Again, I tolerated it because of the savings (~250). The camera came and is made in Thailand and did NOT include warranty cards of ANY sort, no warranty. Then he said that the free shipping would take over 10 business days. I said I had paid $26 to get it in 4-6 days. He said, if you knew that why did you ask then. (?!!). And then annoyed he said you will have it in 4-6 business days, have a good day and hang up. Two days later, as I hadn't heard from them I called and asked about the shipment. The person again said free shipping took longer ("you wanted to save money so you took the free shipping"). I asked him to look in the order and he confirmed that I had indeed paid for expedited shipping. Don't worry Sir, you will get your camera on time. When? ...By Monday next week. But that is 10 days from the original order! He (annoyed) explained that there were 3 days for processing and THEN the count starts. "if you were in such a hurry you should have paid the air shipment" (?!) My trip wasn't until Tuesday so I took his explanation. I was going to get an email with the tracking number at the latest the next day. Since I didn't get it I called the next morning, this time determined to cancel the order. This person was polite (finally!) and asked me if I would take an upgrade shipment instead of canceling. "I assure the camera would get to you before you trip". If you promise I'll take the offer. Ok Sir, let me put you on hold and contact FedEx to confirm...(you get the impression that you are speaking to someone in Siberia who is just trying to delay the inevitable: you realizing that it's all a scam...but you keep hoping it's not). Twenty minutes later he came back and said he was having trouble getting FedEx to answer the phone, so he took my cell phone number and promised to call me back with a confirmation number. I received no call so I called back the next day. Another representative (again polite) did the same thing but added "Don't think about my colleague, I promise I will call you this afternoon". No call was ever made to me....so I called back the next day, now knowing that I didn't have a chance of getting my camera on time for my trip in any other traditional camera store unless I paid overnight shipment (more than $100 extra) besides the standard price for the camera. This time the person was one of the rude ones but by now you get the hang of it and all you want is your camera to arrive. So I complained and negotiated, he yelled at me (literally), I yelled back and he finally said do you want the camera or not!? I said: if you can promise you can get it to me on time I want it. He said I would have it on time. And I did I got it Friday! Even before the promised date. (forget about tracking numbers or emails confirming your shipment, they just don't send them). I'm off to my storm-delayed trip today and I am loving my no-warranty camera from Thailand. I forgot all the aggravation and mistreatment by now but next time, I will save for one or two more months and buy my camera gear from a company who cares about their clients and treats them decently. "Ryther advertised on their website on Canon 5D Mark III for $2,809.00 with free shipping. It said you save $809.00 in their website. I received a E-mail after I placed the order and asked me to call back regarding the payment information. When I call to David, he told me that it was a imported model made in Taiwan with inferior battery and white box. Canon doesn't make camera in Taiwan. He wasn't able to sell me anything else because I got everything from 8mm to 600mm lens. I knew that there are some companies sell parallel imported products which are identical products without USA warranty. Ryther didn't mention about parallel imported or different products. They even list the regular price of $3699.99 which is a legitimate Canon 5D Mark III with USA warranty. They are practicing the fishing tactics. They get you on hook with low price and tell you later that product is not what was advertised after you gave them your credit information. I had to pay $400.00 extra to get the right product. I should have read the review before I ordered. This is typically how they conduct their business. They told me that it was in stock but didn't shipped for almost a week. The 'camera body only ' product was shipped with the lens kit box. Horrible experience."

My name is Michael Panzarino and I own M.A.P. Graphics in Albany, New York.( www.mapgraphicsphotos.smugmug.com )I was looking for a Sony A77 on the internet and found Ryther Camera in New Jersey. I ended up speaking to Steven and he was very friendly and helpful. The fact that I was 4 hours away didn't make a difference to him.
Steven was very helpful describing the camera and it's capabilities to me, answering all of the questions that I had. Then when the discussion of price came ep, he gave me a lower price than anyone else had and he gave me a great deal on an extended warranty,also for a great price.
I explained to Steven that I needed the camera by that Friday, we were talking on Tuesday, and he assured me it would be here. Well what he didn't tell me was he overnight shipped it to me free of charge, it was at my house by 4:30 P.M. Wednesday when my wife got home from work.
I am obviously very pleased with the sale and will be ordering more from RytherCamera in the future."
