"My journey began with a desire to purchase the Canon 5D Mkiii DSLR. I began researching, found the best price, which was Ryther Camera. I went to their website and everything appeared to be legit to me. On July 3, 2012, I called to ensure that the camera was in stock as advertised. I made contact with “James” in the sales department. James was friendly and courteous and not at all pushy. He was informative on the items that I wanted and upgraded the memory card I had selected because the one I chose was no longer in production and out of stock. He did try to sell me an extended warranty, however, he simply explained the need and benefit and although I declined, had I had the extra money in my budget, I would have purchased the extended warranty. I made the purchase and upgraded to 2day shipping. The following day was a holiday (July 4th), so, James told me that he could not guarantee that I would receive the camera by Friday, however, he could guarantee that I would receive it on Monday. There was a problem with my card and I had to call back on Thursday and get it cleared, he still promised me the camera by Monday. Well today is Monday and not only did it arrive early this morning, it is in perfect condition, new box, everything in tact and perfect. I could not be more pleased with my purchase or the treatment that I received. They were patient with me through the entire time and kept their word to me. I would definitely recommend Ryther Camera and would definitely buy from them again!

But NOW you can change it back to Free shipping where as before you could not. I too got the "It's a USA warranty, not an Africa or Malaysia warranty" pitch. Question remains; why sell two different plans? Folks want a warranty, who in their right mind would spend that much money and not want a warranty? - bad business practices in my opinion. Camera has arrived via FedEx 2 day at no extra charge. Camera is in perfect working order. I will change stars to 4/5. It would have been 5/5 if I didn't have the original hassle. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase and decision to stay with Ryther. Thank you Victor for making it right!

Victor, the owner, contacted me after I wrote this review and was very apologetic about his employee's behavior. He wanted to make things right and explained the situation. He made sure my camera was sent out today and gave a written promise that I would receive it no later than Tuesday the 10th. I am giving them a second chance as he had the decency to call me personally and make up for Kevin's actions. I do believe that he was sincere and was trying to do the right thing. For now I am giving 3 stars until I receive the camera by the time it was promised.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!! Cheap prices but cheap service to go along with it.
After trying to be upsold on a camera I bought because they "needed to confirm some things about my order" via a phone number I had to call a.k.a. try to sell me some crap (extra "better" battery, memory cards, etc.) that I didn't need but disguised it as an issue I needed to confirm, I was waiting for shipping confirmation. When I hadn't heard or received an e-mail confirmation in 4 days since my order was placed, I called customer service to see what the status was on my order. The first guy talked to was nice but couldn't explain to me what "dropped shipped" meant and why that didn't mean "shipped". He also couldn't tell me what the actual status was and said it was because I chose the free shipping instead of the $27+ for FedEx.
Either it has shipped or it has not. If it is packaged, it should be shipped within 24 business hours, right? If I HAD paid the $27+ and received it in 2 days, shouldn't my free shipping be SENT OUT at the same time? The extra delivery time should be due to USPS taking longer than FedEx which I completely understand, BUT NOT 10 extra days. I've received online products from China that came sooner than that. This is sent from the United States!
Basically, my order is sitting in a box somewhere waiting to be shipped. What are they waiting for? I don't like the idea of waiting for my order to be shipped so that I am pressured into paying for higher shipping to get it in a reasonable time. Although the site says it could take up to 2-2 1/2 weeks to receive, I thought that was in case there was an issue or a backorder or something NOT because they want you to pay for FedEx OR ELSE YOUR ORDER SITS AND WAITS FOR DAYS.
I called a second time to cancel my order because I don't like the way this company is handling everything. I get Kevin. He is a complete jerk and completely unprofessional. After explaining why I wanted to cancel he starts yelling and arguing with me about how shipping is not free and the free shipping is a promotion and that I can upgrade to FedEx if I want. I don't care what your company is or who you are you should never ever yell, argue and raise your voice at a customer. Even if I was yelling, which I was not, I only expressed my annoyance at the shipping situation, you should still never act in that manner. EVER. I asked to speak with a manager and he said he was the manager and that's why he could speak to me like this. If he is the manager that is a sad thing. I am completely disgusted by this company and write this only in hope that no one has to make the mistake I have."

"I ordered my camera June 15th. Received the pushy sales call that others have written about on June 18th. As of today I have yet to receive it. Considering I was told free shipping was 7-9 business days they are now outside that window. I have to say that the prices were very good but not getting my order on time is not worth the cost savings.
7/3 was just contacted by Kevin from Ryther. Indicated that I should have received my camera by now. They are going to ship me one fedex and include a second battery for my trouble. Was happy to get the call and appreciate the offer of a battery.
7/11 just received my camera. Just shy of a full month since I ordered it. The package was in good shape. I do appreciate the fact that in order to "make things right" Ryther sent me the spare battery(not a pentax but an off brand) and agreed to fedex it(not overnight sent it ground) I have to say overall I will upgrade them to a three and probably would hesitate to order from them unless I paid for overnight shipping which would have negated any price difference from other places I was looking. If it were my company and the first shipment never arrived I would have offered to overnight the new camera but thats just me.

At first I was concerned that I had no track info other then "Sent out to be shipped" I paid for 3 day and it arrived 1 day earlier than expected. I was concerned when there was no paperwork or warranty with the shipment which I had purchased. "I had originally written a very poor review of Ryther's due to a poor customer service purchase.
I give full kudos to Ryther's sales director, Victor, for contacting me numerous times and personally to remedy the situation. I firmly believe that he was genuinely sincere in his desire to repair the purchase and did so enthusiastically.
His explanation and willingness and promptness to do this and achieve a fair outcome for both of us has made me reconsider my review. I chose to rewrite it as it was obvious that they are determined to maintain their reputation and work with their clients.
Thanks Victor for renewing my faith in small companies that are able and willing to compete with "the big boys". I can say shop wisely and know your products and prices before making a decision and Rythers absolutely believes in and delivers on customer service.

"WORST COMPANY! I ordered my camera on June 2nd was told I would receive it within 7-9 days. On the ninth day I called Customer Service to be put on hold for 20 minutes and then hung up on several times. I then called back and was told I would receive it Friday, then called again was told Monday , then told Tuesday. Still no camera almost a month later even though they collected the cash immediately. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY worst customer service EVER!!! Not to mention you won't get what you paid for..."
