"Excellent service, all around. I am a newbie to photography and I wanted to purchase my first dSLR camera. After doing my research online I decided the Nikon D3000 would be a good model to start with. Ryther camera had the lowest price for the base unit and their camera+lens+accessories packages were an amazing deal. I admit I was a bit skeptical as to why the prices were so low, but I ordered with my credit card knowing that my card would have my back if things went downhill.
It was far from downhill. After making my order I called their sales line to change my shipping to 3-day express. A sales clerk reviewed my order with me and suggested I purchase a UV filter. I declined. He then mentioned that they were running a special for July 4th weekend (when I ordered the camera) and I could get a 5 (yes, FIVE) year warranty at a significant discount. Not once did I feel pressured to accept any of his offers-- but since it was a great deal I agreed and the sales person threw in the UV filter AND upgraded my tripod from 57in to 67. I was pleased, to say the least. I recieved my camera on July 8th (it was shipped July 5th). Everything I ordered was in the box. Ryther Camera also required signature confirmation on the package-- which I respect. I've ordered expensive things before and vendors didn't even bother requiring sig. confirmation.

"I was looking for a lens and Ryther Camera seemed to have the best deal. I called and talked to a real person without pushing several buttons and to my surprise was an extremely help man. Ordered the lens with next day delivery and it actually showed up the next day. I am sure I will get other camera gear from them, good prices and customer service like it used be."
"I have no idea where this camera came from. What I do know is that it took 2 full weeks to receive it with free shipping..WTF!!!!. I am in FL. Last week I ordered auto equipment from CA online with free shipping. I received it in 4 days...SUPERB.
Seriously, I would expect to receive the camera (Canon T3i) in perhaps 6 - 8 days but 15??!!! Ten business days???!!
I called last week for an update on the order and was given vague info such as they had no idea when it would be shipped or where it would be drop shipped from...WHAT??!!!
I did not receive the come-on over the phone. I called them beforehand and asked them not to give me the pitch. I also stated that I wouldn't be interested in any other gear. I guess that caused me to be flagged for slow shipping. Oh, and the super low prices are for grey market cameras only. So, forget the great deal you think you'll get. US Warranty cameras are more expensive although lower than I have seen. I received it today. Sure hope I have no issues with it.
AMENDMENT 9/9/2011:
I received a phone call from the Owner/Mgr. and his name is Victor. He was quite apologetic about my experience and wanted me to know that he values his customers. He wanted to know if there were anything he could throw into the deal, such as a battery or filter, to satisfy me. I listened while he explained to me that he hopes his customers have a good experience with Ryther and assured me that it does not please him to hear that they have not. I told him that I did appreciate his acknowledging me. Most businesses with no integrity would not think twice about whether I had a satisfactory experience or not. I really think that there are some aspects of business that these guys are lacking, such as the ability to track shipments. I don't think that they are intentionally trying to rip people off.
Victor, it seems the majority of complaints are regarding the shipping. I would concentrate on a major upgrade or modification if I were you. I bought a polarizer on EBAY for $40 the other day and received a tracking number with my free shipping. Come on, your customers are spending $700 and up. For that kind of money the free shipping MUST include a real tracking number.
Thanks so much for offering the free battery for the T3i. I received it today. I accept it as an offering from you in good faith, Victor. I'll give you this much...it takes honor to admit an error and to truly want to make good on it. I look forward to future improvements from Ryther Camera. By the way, your prices are great. The salesmen should let customers know the difference in grey market prices and US Warranty prices because your US warranty prices are still the best out there.

"Before ordering from this store, I looked them up here and saw "elite status" and lots of good reviews. The fact that they offered Google checkout also made me feel pretty safe.
The confirmation email was the first thing that got me worried. Not only would my free shipping not be insured and I would not receive a tracking number, but they would also take several days longer to process the order in the first place. Of course I could always "upgrade" to FedEx, but once my credit card had been charged, even if the item had not shipped yet, they would charge a 3% fee for cancelling the order. That sounded like a scam where they would charge the credit card and then not ship the item until I either upgrade to FedEx or cancel, in which case they would get a 3% fee for nothing.
I returned here and found several bad reviews that identify this company as a bait-and-swap style scam. Why aren't those on the first page? Makes me think that the good reviews here are not legit.
I had ordered on Sunday afternoon, and on Monday evening the dreaded call by the CSR / scam artist finally came. After putting me on hold (!), he told me that there had been a "glitch" with Google checkout, that I had not been charged (which is correct), and that he needed me to provide a credit card for my order instead. Since I already had my doubts about the company, I didn't feel like providing them with my credit card information and told him to retry Google checkout. He then said that Google checkout had a limit of $300 and that it shouldn't have been possible for me to select Google checkout in the first place. He said it must be some sort of problem with their website. When I refused to provide credit card information, he finally cancelled my order (no confirmation email). Good riddance, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with them anymore, even if I'll end up paying a few bucks more on a legitimate site.

My bad experience with this company is mostly based on the fact that they offer Google Checkout on their web site, but it apparently doesn't work. Maybe they'll fix it in the future, who knows. In the end, I only lost a few days and had fairly little hassle with them, but since I don't feel any better about this company than I did last week, I'm not going to change my rating.
However, they do seem to be very responsive to a bad review. Since I wrote the above, they've called me no less than 10 times on three different days to get me to change my rating, but alas, I had already ordered the camera from Amazon and there's nothing more they can do for me that could turn me into a happy customer.
If you do want to give them a try, their responsiveness to reviews here on resellerratings.com is encouraging. Just don't let them talk you into buying anything you don't want..."
