"After researching Ryther Camera on the Web extensively I went to the Ryther Camera .com site and ended up purchasing a high end camera and accessories. My experience was very positive. The sales person was highly knowledgeable and very skilled from a technical standpoint. He listened to my requests carefully and offered suggestions when appropriate and was able to back up these suggestions with technical expertise. From a personal standpoint my interaction with the sales technician was superb. I can recommend Ryther Camera without exception to any photo enthusiast."
"Everything was as expected"
"I promise this story does have a (sort of) happy ending. Read through and you'll see.
Ryther's price for the camera I wanted was around $50 cheaper than most other online retailers because it didn't come with upgraded shipping as standard. I decided to save some money and order with them.
Two days later I was given a call to "confirm my order." The salesperson badgered me to buy accessories I didn't want, repeatedly making incentives for me to buy them. I tried to get across that I wasn't ready to buy any add ons. Eventually he gave up and put my order through. That was likely the most negative experience I've ever had in customer service. A couple hours later, I received a call because the first name of the shipping address differed from the name the address was listed under. We sorted it out quickly, but it had been three days and they hadn't sent my order out. ummm...
The next day, I read reviews of people saying they had received grey market products when they were never informed of this. I called to make sure my camera would be a US model. It turns out I had to explain to the person the concept of manufacturer's warranty and how it can only be honored in the country the camera is supposed to be sold in. He though I was talking about the 30 day return policy. And last minute, he mentioned my order was upgraded to FedEx.
I called on Monday ask why I hadn't received my tracking number since I was upgraded to FedEx. He claimed they were having some sort of computer issue, but then immediately emailed me the tracking number. The package was going to arrive the next day, so I asked again if my product was going to be grey market, because I really didn't want to deal with a return. He reassured me that it wasn't.
The next day, I received my camera. It was a US model, thank the Lord, but I noticed some peculiar things about it. For one, the box wasn't sealed in any way. Second, it came with two US warranty cards in the box. I took out the battery, and the baggy it packaged in was patched in the middle with scotch tape. The inside of the lens cap was caked with dust. Lastly, the camera didn't have any sort of removable labeling on it like I had seen other new ones on the internet. Everything about the camera was fine and it functioned properly, but the packaging was just suspicious of having been opened. I called Ryther the next day to sort this out. Basically I was yelled at for even suspecting that they sell used products as new. They said I could return it, but I couldn't wait half a month to get a replacement. And plus, they claimed all of their products are new, as well as mine. But I have no doubt mine was opened.
My experience up to this point left a really sour taste in my mouth, though I am happy with my camera.
UPDATE
After speaking with Kyle (I suppose) over several days concerning the service I experienced and the condition of my product. He gave me the option of exchanging it or crediting me back $50. I couldn't send it in to be exchanged because he said it would take over a week to get the replacement. I really don't have that sort of time, and since he claims all of their products were just like mine (I don't believe him), I didn't want to waste anyone's time with that option. I ultimately chose to get $50 back for my order. After all, they did sell me an open box camera as new, so it should have been discounted in the first place. They still deny it was opened before I received it, yet I have no doubt it was.
They really do try to help their customers the best they can and they don't give up, but my first experience with them was just so painful. :/
Oh yeah! And don't try to order online. Just order over the phone so you'll get the best price they have to offer."
"Great deal on my Canon 60D, was looking for a t3, but when I found this deal it was a no brainer. I took a risk despite other reviews saying that shipping took too long and was pleased with the service. I got a call to verify my order after I placed it and asked if I wanted other extras but after that formality, I got my camera pretty quickly (within a week and a half). This is a bit longer than with other retailers, but for the price, you can't beat it."
"I really don't know what to say about RytherCamera, You tell me what the best word is correct for them... other than perfect!
July 05 I was looking for the "Sony SAL1855 Zoom lens - 18 mm - 55 mm - F/3.5-5.6" on "Google Shopping" all the stores (24) has the same price ($199.00) NOT RytherCamera!($120.00)
I decided to buy it the next day (july 06). I went outside to play backetball when they call me... They was offering me a protector for the lens for 19.99. I decline the offer because i already had the protector, and I though my self wow-- that's a good way to keep customers happy and to promote/sell their products. Than after the conversation finished he said "Okay, your order has been shipped".
But I selected FREE SHIPPING (7 to 9 days) and today (july 8) I have my lens, its works great, Original from Sony, Great packaging!
I always bought from Amazon but next time, If im going to buy something for my camera, I will not think it twice to buy it from RytherCamera!

"Got everything promised. Camera was exactly what I ordered. The only issue to me that was negative about my experience was the shipping. According to the website I was supposed to get free shipping but they charge you a "handling" charge of 35.00 which I felt was a little deceptive. Free shipping should be free. I didnt argue it because I needed the camera in a rush. Overall it was a good experience but would be weary of ordering from them again because of handling charges."
"Very helpful, made a wrong purchase, they exchanged the camera and lens and sold me a lesser valued package and refunded the difference. Did everything they promised to do. Will purchase from them again."
"Overall, a great experience. Friendly, informative, shipping time was accurately stated, no-pressure sales, a tracking number was given, and my equipment was in great working condition with all the parts listed. No complaints! As long as I have that kind of experience with Ryther over and over again, I will definitely be a returning customer. The only thing that I would recommend for the company is to confirm orders by making a phone call to the customer (just in case). If I wouldn't have called before the order was shipped, I would have gotten the wrong thing. It all worked out, though. No biggie. Thanks for saving me, Ryther!"
"Ryther supplied our D90 on time and in great condition. Pleasure to work with your company"
"Ordered a Panasonic HDC-TM900 HD Camcorder with the best price I could find."
"Wow, awesome and a pleasure to do business with. Camera was 100.00 less expensive then at Best buy with free shipping and free gifts with purchase. Fast free shipping I received my purchase only 5 days after. Thanks and will be buying lenses in the future. buy with confidence. Thanks agin "
"The Canon 60D I bought from RytherCamera is Ok. The price is almost the same at BestBuy at the time I bought this camera. However a 18-135mm Canon lens came with the camera instead 18-55 as from RytherCamera.
The remote switch was not compatible with the camera and I have tried to contact customer service many times by phone and e-mail. And then I had to send back the wrong one first before they sent to me the right one. In this case other companies should send me first and if I don't send back the wrong one, they should charge me for the replacement. For short, customer service is not good."
"Everything was smooth with RytherCamera...from searching the web, placing my order, being called by customer service because there was a better deal, to answering questions when I called. When I start to add lenses to my collection, I'll be coming back."
"I bought a high-end Sony video camera from Ryther after doing a fair amount of comparison shopping online. The service was excellent - the person I spoke with on the phone was very helpful and seemed to save me a fair bit of money with a first-time buyer deal they had. I did end up with some accessories I didn't want and won't use, but in the end it cost me less than buying just the camera. I will probably buy from Ryther again."
