I called customer service and we found out that the website was changed to offer a free hard case only on the same day and after we had ordered our machines. Sewing Machines Plus acknowledged that a mistake had been made in our order and promptly shipped, at no charge, the soft sided case we had ordered. They also allowed us to keep the hard case.
