"I have been a loyal customer for years. I have always liked the photo products and endured the cumbersome web site to make them. However, after my experience this fall with their 30-40% sale, and additional free shipping, I am not sure I will do anymore ordering. My first receipt showed the free shipping in addition to the 40% off total. However, subsequent receipts and the final bill, added on the additonal $20.00+ After contacting Shutterfly, they originally said they would deduct the shipping charges. When the charges showed up on my credit card, they stated the shipping was added in with the 40% discount, and showed their creative math. When I deducted the 40% from the total cost, then add the shipping it comes to the total which is on the credit bill. I did not receive the free shipping. I feel I cannot trust the "sales" and "specials" from now on, and will be looking for another photo site."

"Extremely disappointing! I had my Xmas cards printed with them and they turned out simply awful. The pictures were professionally taken, so there was absolutely no excuse for the horrific printing. The pictures were grainy, fuzzy and the color was way off! From now on I'll be bringing my business elsewhere "

"Buyer beware! Ordered a book for Christmas and when I received it, photos were missing, text was missing on some pages and also had a blank page. This was not the book I approved before I ordered! Called for 2 days, finally got someone on the phone and was told to edit and reorder at no charge. Needless to say, my bank account was charged, full price!! Will not be doing business with them again. "

"I have been a Shutterfly patron for a while now, and while I do like many of their products, they have some major issues. First off, for the second year in a row, almost to date, they have lost an item I purchased. Between the item getting the shipping label and being picked up by the carrier it disappeared. The first time I wasted money on upgrading the shipping, to make sure I got it on time (which I didn't). This time I ordered it early enough that I didn't need to, but yet again, it will be late. No response as of yet from the website contact or Facebook message.

The customer service through their website doesn't respond, you'll have better luck on their Facebook page. Don't just shoot them a message, post on their page or on one of their images. You need to get their attention and possibly deter business otherwise they will ignore you.

When you upload images at high resolution, don't expect to be able to download them again at that size. They only let you download low res size. That's right, your images that are uploaded to YOUR account CANNOT be downloaded in the size you uploaded them. Simply awful...

"this is a review on my last purchase. i always order everything i need from them. this time they printed a photo wrong. i wanted an 8x10. call to get credit so i can print locally or they can send me a new one expedited. lady(cs also the lead) says we can give you credit and you reorder but it can't be expedited, also she sees the error was mine and i should have viewed and edited the photo. i just wanted an 8x10. i didn't need editing. you guys cropped it. wasted my time calling them. they are no help. she said i can return it and pay the return fee. i don't see how i can pay for a return when it's not my error. i will never order again from them. one time of bad service can mess up your whole future experience with a company even if they were good in the past. i can order from many other places, everyone sells the same thing these days what makes a company stands out is their customer service. "

"There promo code coupon situation is a total rip off. if I could give shutterfly zero stars I would. I recently got a 20$ off gift card from petco on black Friday. I read the rules and restrictions and I made sure that I understood what I could get and not get. When it came time to apply the discount on a product that i wanted, I could not. So i tried another product and again that one didn't work. So I tried another and another. I tried at least 10 different products and all of them this discount did not apply. I was so frustrated by the end of it that I wrote to shutter fly on there "live" help. When i submitted my concern it said that they would get back to me by 8 pm...I submitted my concern at 1:30 in there afternoon!! I STILL have not heard back from them. I'm sure this company makes great keepsakes and gifts but you have to be willing to pay. Don't ever think that you have gotten lucky just because you have a coupon. "

"I just had my first experience with Shutterfly... Hmmm... Not sure where to start!
First - my first 3 attempts were "lost" even after saving several times!! So the book took me forever to make! After the first book was lost, customer service informed me that my book would be free for my hassle...
So even though I continued to have problems, I continued because it was going to be free.
When I finally finished the book I went to order and I didn't see the "credit" they told me I would get! So I contacted them again and was assured the when I actually placed the order it would be there...
When I placed the final order they kept asking for cc info before they would process. Again I contact them and they said they just need the card to order but I wouldn't be charged... So I clicked "order"
Today when I checked my cc I discover I was charged FULL PRICE!!! So back on the phone I go...
Now the story is I was never told I would get this book for free, I was to get an 8 X 8 for free! That is NOT the book I was working on! My resolution was when I received the book, return it for full credit then REORDER and it would be free!!! OHHHH NOOOO.... After talking to a supervisor, I was finally told I would not receive the book for free - I would only get the base cost back but none of the upgrades even though the upgrades were in place when I originally contacted them! Long and short of it is this company is a rip off and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone! Last -- once you sign up for their site by giving them your email (which is required) I keep getting all kinds of pop ups and adware :-) so on top of everything else I am going to have to have my laptop serviced....

"I will NEVER use Shutterfly again. When I purchased a wedding dress from David's Bridal, they gave me a $20 coupon. I ordered Save-the-dates from them. You could not even read the date on the cards. I used them anyway to avoid spending money again. I then ordered wedding photos from them. They chopped the heads off of several photos. I also ordered Christmas cards from them. AGAIN you could not read our names on them. I e-mailed them about the problem this time TWICE and never got a reply from them.
On top of crappy service and product, shipping takes forever. They ship through UPS which is tracked. It then switches over to USPS and you can not track it after it does. It takes them almost two weeks to get your product to you. Just not worth the time and effort. I will order my products local from now on.

"I recently placed three orders from this company - a 20X30 metal photo collage that turned out more amazing than I could have even dreamed of, 125 Christmas cards that are fabulous, and a calendar of my photos that is also fabulous - even three photos that I had been cautioned would be too low resolution. I had ordered my Christmas cards from a local Walgreens store first. They were HORRIBLE - thin paper, uneven border - total crap. So then I went to Shutterfly and for .03 more per print, I got a gorgeous card on high quality paper. When my calendar came, I realized I had mixed up the photos for two months. I wrote to Shutterfly, hoping for a discount on a reorder. Within 15 minutes I had a reply from them - they are redoing it for FREE (even though the error was mine) and even gave me free expedited shipping. I could not be more impressed. I've used them in past years as well - always had fantastic results. Love this company! "

"Placed order from the UK after making sure my full address was input so that i knew exactly how much international shipping would be - the site needs this in order to be able to calculate shipping costs. I subsequently got a card through the post to say order held at handling office as international shipping charges and duty outstanding. I had to pay this to get my order. Upon querying with shutterfly they advised that within the SMALL PRINT international orders MAY incur local taxes. Don't understand why shutterfly cant work out & charge international charges when most other companies do. After complaining via email they just kept saying not their fault and how else could they help. Very misleading site and no attempt to try and make right. Avoid!!"

"Very horrible experience. They charged my card for an order that I entered another payment for. Causing overdraft fees. Spent hours and they refunded money not fees and a couple days later after refund charged my card again. Totally messing up my bank account. Never again. "

"I have used Shutterfly for two separate photo books and was very pleased both times. Each time I took advantage of free offers (one through my credit company and the other a McDonald's prize) and am happy with both. My father loved the album I put together, and I ordered more for family gifts. Shipping was quick. No issues that required customer service. Navigating the site, especially building the book itself gets complicated. I did not use any of the tutorials on the website since I was rushing to finish, but the second book was easier since I was more familiar. Also, check out deals and offers on shipping, coupon codes, etc. I found those advertised elsewhere, which made me more likely to buy."

"So, I tried Shutterfly for the first time, and now I wish I never did. I ordered a mug which was a graduation gift and I paid almost 8 bucks for shipping. I wish I just bought a cheap mug at the store now for the same price... I ordered the item on Sept 26th. It's now Oct 7th and was supposed to arrive a week ago. Last time I heard it was in a city 3 hours away from me, which was also a week ago. USPS "ensures" me that it's on it's way...yeah ...right... I asked them where it was at and all they could tell me was "oh it's on route" On route to where? China? I could have picked it up myself faster then it takes them to deliver it. Shame on you Shutterfly for choosing such awful high priced shipping. If you order through them expect insanely slow delivery, probably by a tortoise."

"After two major failed attempts, if you are from outside of California, I highly recommend you find a local option.

First time, 2013 Christmas cards, now, October 2014, First Year Wedding Anniversary Calendar made. Delivery was stated as October 2nd. Here we are on the 3rd and they tell me its waiting in the USPS after being shipped by UPS. Wait, why would you do that, why ship it UPS to have it dropped off at USPS? There is a reason the USPS is failing.

Playing it safe, I thought I would have it mailed to my work so someone would be able to sign for it, and they can't even get it to me a day late, instead, now they are saying 5 days late.

So let me tell you, I had a photobook, 150 pages made a few days ago, Tuesday, September 30th. I used Walgreen's, a local option and I received the book Thursday, October 2nd. Oh yeah, and it was easier to use, gave me many options and templates and was quite a bit cheaper than Shutterfly.

I will mention it again, if they fail you once, do not try to use them again because Shutterfly will fail you again, do not think they $10 gift certificate they give you will make a difference, their customer service may offer you another $10 gift certificate, but do not let it happen to you again, go Local, use a local print shop, an in state option or a chain you know you can rely on. But do not use Shutterfly again!

Shutterfly, you have failed me more than once and I will be sure that if I can persuade friend to use another company, I will do that while telling them of my terrible experiences using Shutterfly and the terrible customer service your team provides.
