"I ordered a windows 10 upgrade. Instructions were emailed. I followed the instructions to install and it performed a NEW Windows 10 install. I reached out to set up a call with the post sales support and I was pretty much told " I am sorry you will have to find a way to recover your previous desktop items and re intall all your programs" - that was it - As a MS Partner I expected the engineer to be able to talk me through how to remedy the situation that the NEW install caused. He joined the scheduled call 15 min late for a 30 min call - and then pretty much said nothing can be done. It has taken me hours and hours to try and recover from this issue "

"I purchased Word 2021 and the cancelled it, because I needed Word 365. I purchased it, but it has never shown up on MAC, and therefore I cannot use the program. I have contacted MS several times, made an appointment to receive a phone call from tech they did not call at the appointed time). Secondly, they have not corrected the double payment. I have been using MS Word for many years, and now it is necessary to switch to Pages on the iMAC. That is unfortunate. If no one calls me or does not respond to emails inquiries, I guess I will be out $200 and still not have the item I purchased.
I hope someone from MS reads and contacts me personally to remedy the issues at hand. I loved using MS Word over the years and found it to great for writing and editing books. As I have 18 books published using MS 365, I would rather continue with MS."

Make sure all your files are properly backed up on an external drive or separate partition to avoid any data loss." This in fact is the first bullet point to make sure our valued customers are well informed of the risk of losing your apps and stored data when performing the install.
The Windows setup process is designed with several layers of confirmation and pop-up warnings, especially when it comes to actions like formatting a drive. At each critical step, including the one involving drive selection and formatting, the software prompts the user with clear warnings that require manual confirmation before proceeding. This is implemented to ensure that users are fully aware of any potential changes to their drives.
Given this design, it would be highly unusual for the process to continue without displaying such warnings. It’s possible that a step was missed or skipped unintentionally, but we want to reassure you that Microsoft designed the system specifically to display the prompts to prevent accidental formatting without prior notice.
Having said all this, unfortunately there are no ways for us to assist you in retrieving your apps or data stored on your PC. The best way to address this is to seek assistance from professionals or IT specialists who offer data recovery services.
