"A previously reputable company, this outfit has gone down the tubes. Prices are great, but if there is a problem, WATCH OUT, THEY SIMPLY DO NOT RESPOND.
Only recourse is credit card chargeback, the aggravation isn't worth the savings.

"Like others have posted, I have not had any issue with Surplus Computers until this order. I have ordered probably 8 items over the past few years.

With this order, they sent the wrong item. Customer service e.mailed me back with how to obtain RMA info. I completed the RMA form and sent via e.mail and fax. Now I can not get them to return e.mail or FAX. Contacted Discover Card and they are going to open a grievance with them. This is my last time doing business with them.

"I like most of the posts have been doing business with Surplus conputers for 3 to 4 years. My last experience was not good, I bought 2 IBM intellistation m with XP PRO preloaded. one was fine, on the second one the keyboard port did not work. I filled out the form they ask for and can npt get anyone to answer emails. This is the last time I will do business with them. something seems to have happened to them. It took 3 weeks to ship my towers"

"I have ordered stuff from Surplus Computers for years - but no longer. They sold a refurbished IBM P4 2.8ghz computer with Win XP Pro installed. however, when I tried to validate the build and install updates, Microsoft identified this as a fraudulent or pirated copy of Windows. Surplus Computers will not answer their phone and has not responded to multiple requests for tech support or customer service.

Steer clear.

"Add me to the long list of less than satisfied customers. After several years of satisfactory experiences I recently ordered two 1GB sticks of RAM which were DOA. Numerous emails over the last three weeks go unanswered. They no longer have a phone contact for customer service. I guess they couldn't stand the heat. This marks the last time I'll do any business with this company."

"Please notice that my order date was back on August 1. I am posting here because I don't know anywhere else to express my discontent at this point. I will NEVER do business with this company again, and I echo the sentiments of other recent negative reviewers.

I originally purchased 6 laser pointer/pen/USB drives. One was DOA. It took me 2 1/2 months just to get an RMA issued. Email support, while recommended by them, was terrible. It often took me 3 weeks just to get a response, with me sending emails asking for updates once a week. It's funny, because the only times I got responses were when the email I sent stated that if they kept being unresponsive, I would have no choice but to file a complaint with the BBB.

Eventually, by November, I was notified that I would receive a refund for the DOA item. I would not be refunded the cost I had to pony up to ship the defective item back to them, but at that point, I really didn't care. I waited a month, again, requesting updates weekly (none of which were responded to) before giving up on that. To this date, I have not received a single email from them since the "we are going to credit your account" email. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB (in January), and had it closed due to the company's lack of response (beginning of February).

I agree that Surplus Computers seemed to be better in the past, and I don't know what's happening with their management, but this last experience will indeed be my LAST experience with them.

I think that their normal day-to-day order filling process might be ok, but once you have a problem, consider yourself SOL. I had an item arrive DOA and have still not been able to get a refund SEVEN MONTHS LATER....

"I have been a customer of Surplus Computers for about 2.5 years now. "Timeliness" tends to fluctuate -- Sometimes my orders are processed right away (this one was -- I got my order confirmation the same day as well as UPS tracking info) and others seem to linger for a day or two before being processed. Overall, this has been a really good company to do business with. I have placed at least 20 orders with them, and have not had a problem yet."

"Non Existent Customer Service

This company appears to have been taken over by morons who post incorrect links to products which get shipped regardless of how you attempt to rectify the problem.

What I clicked on to order, turned out to be something else at checkout after I had paid for it, with no way of stopping the shipment.

No response to emails, voicemails, anything.

Note: I had been a customer of this company for a good five years, with no real problems but something has gone horribly wrong recently, perhaps new ownership? Whoever is running this place now is running it right into the ground, and quickly.

UPDATE !!! After returning goods at my expense was finally shipped what I had actually ordered. One email to let me know would have been nice, I wouldn't have filed a credit card dispute if I'd actually gotten some response. Bottom line, I lost money in shipping goods back, which was not a good outcome.

DO NOT BUY FROM SURPLUS COMPUTERS UNLESS YOU DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU'RE GETTING WHAT YOU'VE ACTUALLY ORDERED- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

"Ordered a wireless mouse. dead on arrival. they have a tedious return process but i adhered to it. obtained an rma number. returned it with tracking per their procedures. they received the mouse on 12/10/07. i have not received a replacement yet. 2 emails unanswered! i cannot find a phone number to contact them. customer service is terrible!"

"Mouse I ordered arrived dead on arrival without the original packaging. Just a clear plastic bag with the mouse and adapter. No CD, manual, etc.

Their RMA procedures are a joke -- no refunds, only exchanges. And I have to pay shipping back to them for a completely defective product.

I will never order from this outfit again. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing.

"I emailed Surplus Computers about a month ago asking for info on a recording device. They never responded. I emailed again about 6 days ago-still not response. Obviously their customer service is non-exsistant. I will update after (and if) I receive my recorder. I'm hoping for better response from their sales department. I've seen this before where customer svc is lousy but I did receive excellent value/service with sales."

"Placed an order with Surplus Computers. Delivery was slow and I had to request a tracking number... TWICE. The merchandise which I finally recieved did not work. Per their RMA instructions, they will not accept returned merchandise unless you have first contacted their technical support. I tried 3 times to contact technical support including leaving phone messages and email. I NEVER RECEIVED a response to my non working merchandise from their technical support. I jumped through all the hoops outlined on their wesite to return a defective item including faxing a request for an RMA. They ultimately did respond providing an RMA (same as order number, real high tech *eyes rolling*).

As Suggested in their own instructions, I bought and recieved Proof of Delivery of the item to Surplus computer but heard nothing back from seller. I attempted to contact them nearly a month later (like the other people who posted, I NEVER spoke to a live person despite having telephone numbers on their site for customer support). I finally sent an email requesting the disposition of the RMA to every email address that I could find on their website. NO RESPONSE!! I sent an email blast a second time and did get a response that my Refund was being processed as they no longer carried the originally orderd item (big surprise, nearly three months had elapsed). They asked that I be patient and that the refund was in the final stages of approval and to check my credit card statement for the credit. ANOTHER month has passed and NO CREDIT. This Transaction commenced on July 30 of 2007, it is now November 13, 2007 and not resolved once and for all for a $49.25 order!! Do yourself a favor. Shop Anywhere other than this seller; their customer service is non-existent, and their business practices criminal, taking money but not providing a satisfactory good or service.

"Ordered a socket A/370 3-pin heatsink/fan. Not that difficult of an order to screw up, but they somehow managed to send a 40pin socket 7 hs/fan. Didn't even realize they still made those. Haven't managed to successfully contact 'customer service' yet, but will update when/if I do. I have a feeling, based on the other posts here, that I'll have better luck with my credit card company.

Update: CC Co will not do anything until the item is returned, but I can't get a RMA number. They do not respond to emails, you cannot get a live person on the phone, and all their voice mail boxes are full. Complaint now on file with the BBB, who have also recieved no response from this company. Big mistake, ordering from anywhere without checking reseller ratings first. If you're reading this, DON'T BUY HERE!
