"This company has poor customer service. I ordered a webcam. After I didn't hear anything for a week I tried calling. Noone answers the phones at the offices and the voicemail boxes are full. I sent an email and noone replied. My second email 4 days later was replied to after 2 days only to tell me that the product wasn't avaliable. THEN WHY ARE YOU TAKING ORDERS FOR IT?!?!? This totally sqrewed me because I needed that camera for a trip!
I am very disappointed with my experience with this company. This company provides poor customer service and I will never do buisiness with it again. BEWARE!

"Order placed late on the 18th, confirmation email received the same day and shipment email on the 21st. Package arrived on the 22nd with all ordered items. Very satisfied with this transaction. "
"I recently placed an order and I have not heard a word from this company since. I emailed their customer service department numerous times and I have yet to receive any reply.
I have totally given up on these guys and will not be buying from them again. They don't even have any contact number on their website. Their warehouse is located in the same state as me, so I have no idea what the delay is."
"I ran into some problems installing Nero7 i'd bought from Surplus Computers, and after reading some feedback, i'd felt a little leery about my purchase.
I sent an email to the default tech support email address (****@****) on the invoice and found a reply within a couple of hours.
After getting to Larry and going through the regular mundane troubleshooting process, we still could not get it to work. He took it upon himself to open another copy of the software and try my CD Key with it and proved it worked. He was still willing to ship me that known good CD later in the day!
I eventually found the problem to be on my side (previous version of Nero 6 hidden in the OS) and was then able to install my original CD and CD Key effortlessly.
Larry went out of his way and responded extremely quickly to my problem and it will result in me looking to Surplus Computers for future purchases. I don't know how the others fared, but I received stellar support on this purchase.

"Fast shipment, only because they are also in CA. Quality of items are kind of shoddy."
"Don't buy anything from this company, they suck!!!!!!! I got my adapter and after I got it on the 360 and it found my network I entered the wep key and it quit working, the channel would not change and nothing would pick up a signal from it, including my two laptops. So I called linksys and went round and round with their low level tech who knew nothing, so I eventually spoke to an upper level tech and we went through all of the trouble shooting and he concluded that it was faulty. So I notified Surpluscomputers.com , they said I would have to pay shipping back to them, so I told them no way. One of their techs calls me and tells me they are not going to pay for shipping on a product that is not faulty but has problems due to user errors, this without even knowing what the problem is. He went on to say that the Linksys upper level guy knows nothing and that I should read the internet, etc... To make a long story short, I am disputing the charges with my CC company. BTW, Linksys does not want to honor warranties for products bought from these guys. So beware, even if it is cheap.

"This was my first purchase from these folks and I was a bit nervous because of some of the negative feedback they have here and on other sites. Regardless, I took a chance and was very pleased with my choice to buy from them. I ordered 2 SD cards and they arrived yesterday in tact and as promised. I sent two emails to their customer service department asking about the status of my order and they promptly replied to both emails.
They could do better in customer service overall. Online order tracking and a bit more shipping info would be nice. However, they were by far the cheapest source for what I wanted and they delivered."
"I have ordered from them before and had positive experiences. Ordered an ATI 9600XT video card. They sent me an nVidia 5600XT - not even in the same league, much less for the price. That's OK, mistakes happen. What's NOT OK is when they don't answer any e-mails or call back for messages left. I have had 0 luck contacting them since. Will never shop there again. Look at their 6-month vs. lifetime ratings and you can see these guys are going DOWN."
"Received two defective surplus flat monitors. Multiple problems. Emailed, called and answered their questions.I did additional tests as directed. No results. No response from "Danny" again. Return rules (on download form) shows they have no intention of ever crediting anyone.NO NOT order from this company. They will rob you. Had minor ($15 overcharge) problem with previous order. I should have know better than to order again."
"Waited 5 days before they sent me a cancellation. After they had acknowledged my order and charged the card. There are much better companies to do business with. Time to move on."
"Ordered a twin pack of SD cards, email notification of order was just as expected, email notification of shipment was just as expected, item arrived 5 days later. Couldn't be happier."
"I've had a terrible experience with this company trying to find out what's going on with some software I purchased. I've send several emails with no response. All you get when you call their phone number is that their mailbox is full. It's too bad a company that does business like this is still around. STAY AWAY!!!"
"Do not do business with this store. I purchased a motherboard from them on 12/24/06. I never heard anything from them about the purchase. I placed another order from them on 12/26/06 for another item. Once again I heard nothing. I should have known better to order again, but it seemed like a great price. Anyway, I have sent 3 emails inquiring about my order and received no responses. I have called twice, but the voicemail mailbox is full and I am unable to leave a message. Today, I sent a FAX asking what is going on, and received no reply. Luckily, my credit card has not been charged; and I hope it stays that way. This store is non communicative to say the least. I have wasted time with them, and because of the non communication, I do not know whether to order a motherboard from another vendor since I don't want to end up with two. I know if I do, it will be impossible to return the one from Surplus Computers, so I will be stuck with it. Since I have never received anything from them, I can't rate their product, but this store is not worth the trouble, and I will not order from them again. I wish I had read the other reviews on this store before placing an order.
1/11/07 Update
The saga continues. Since I had not heard from anyone at this company, I sent a cancellation email to them on 1/5/07. Again, I heard nothing from them. The motherboard I ordered from another vendor arrived on the morning of 1/11/07, and I thought I was done with Surplus Computers. However, on the afternoon of 1/11/07, the motherboard from Surplus Computers arrived by UPS. The UPS tracking number indicates the board was shipped on 1/8/07; 3 days after I sent my cancellation email. My charge card has been charged. I called the company and finally got a human being; who was very rude. She kept transferring me to voicemail (3X), and I kept calling back. I called again and asked to talk to a person, and I am sure she hung up on me. I waited awhile and called back, and punched in a number for Sales, and got through to a person. Basically, the guy told me they had been moving and all my emails, Faxes and phone calls were not even recognized because they posted this info about moving on their homepage. I did not see anything on their website to this effect when I ordered. Anyway this guy was also rude; as I became as the conversation continued. When I talked about returning the item, and contacting my credit card company to dispute the charge (since I contacted them to cancel the order 3 days before they shipped it), I got a vague threat about causing me credit problems if I did that. He suggested I send an email to the same black hole I had been sending to in order to see if they will take the board back. I did this yesterday, and again have heard nothing. Big surprise!
To make matters worse, I finally opened the package from them thinking I could at least resell the board they sent and not have to deal with them anymore. The motherboard is visibly defective. There are 7 large capacitors that have leaked (big time), so I know the board will not work; without even having to test it. The defects are so obvious that I cannot believe they did not notice them. So, I cannot even resell it.
THIS IS BY FAR THE WORSE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD DEALING WITH AN ONLINE OR RETAIL COMPANY.
2/12/07 UPDATE
I finally got my first email response from this company on 1/12/07. It was from Jadi in the RMA department with an apology that my order was not cancelled in time. Over the next week, Jadi and I emailed several times to try to determine what could be done. I emailed pictures of the defective board. I refused to complete their RMA form with the blanket authorization to charge my credit card for additional shipping and/or repair charges.
On 1/19/07, Jadi sent me an RMA number and offered a FULL REFUND; this included shipping and NO RESTOCKING CHARGE. In addition, Jadi sent me a prepaid UPS label to return the board.
I returned the board on 1/19/07, and UPS delivered it on 1/26/07. On 2/7/07, I checked my credit card for a credit, and did not find anything from Surplus Computers. I emailed Jadi again and received a quick response that the RMA department had not yet received the item???? So, I emailed them the UPS tracking number showing a delivery date of 1/26/07. Jadi confirmed that it had been received and emailed me that he would process the paperwork and to expect a full refund in about a week. The FULL REFUND including my shipping charges appeared on my card on 2/12/07.
So, bottom line is that I got my money back. This turned out to be an extremely difficult process for what should have been a simple purchase and return. The explanation that the company was moving during the time I originally ordered the part, and their email system and phones were down is not really a valid explantion to me. After I finally got a live contact in the company, things moved along, although slower than I would have preferred. I think in the future, I will stick with companies that have a better reputation, such as NewEgg"
"I place my order on 12/14/06 and received a confirmation email, since that day nothing. Called them on the phone and was told to go to their site and send a email to WEBSALES, I've sent 2 emails and no luck. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS SITE, save your money and time."
"I made a purchase about a year ago. I never received the item I purchased, though my credit card was charged. Also, not one of their email accounts that I emailed ever responded to my emails. I called the credit card company, got their phone number, and ended up speaking with an answering machine and never got a call back. I'll never order from them again!"
