"I'm a regular of this store and recently ordered various parts. Got shipped incorrect USB cable connections and a cable was missing. Emailed the company and Larry was quick to respond saying the new items would be sent shortly. Received via ups as expected. An excellent merchant."
"Ordered a new Intel P4 Socket 478 CPU Fan. Received a used warped plastic fan housing that was worthless. As this is a surplus computer business I didn't exspect a new fan but at least a serviceable item. As the time and cost to return it was more than the fan was worth I will junk it as I'm sure they exspect. Stay away from this one."
"got a doa refub compaq I emailed for a RMA called for an RMA never got a responce so i got stuck... all they did was remove me from their mailing list...lol"
"I ordered the item on June 26th. The website had no way of tracking the order and I only got an e-mail just confirming the order with the price. On July 4th, I got an e-mail telling me that the item shipped via USPS on the 3rd. I finally received the item on the 6th with no problems."
"Ordered Logitech Wireless Headphones for Apple iPod on 6/15, received on 6/20, shipping is quite quick. The product is listed as "new" on website, but the product I received is definitely anything but new. There is a marker-pen checkmark on the right ear piece, which doesn't have the "sponge thingie" attached on it, like the left ear piece. And the warranty is crossed out. I emailed them complain about the "refurbished" product they sent me, but they insist it is "new", just not "boxed" but "oem bulk". They can call it whatever they want, but from what I can see, it's not new. Worst of all, I bought from them because I expect this will qualify for $50 rebate from Logitech. Well, there is no box, which means no UPC, and that means no rebate... I should have buy from Amazon, after $50 rebate, it's 35% cheaper than Surplus' price. I requested a return, they want to charge me 20% restocking fee. I was thinking to dispute this with my credit card company, but decided not to waste any more time on this as it's just $40. Will never buy from Surplus any more."
"Their Web Site shows condition NEW. But they shipped me used PC Card Adapter PCMCIA. Also they sent me a blank CD instead of Atari Anniversary Edition. Very bad seller and not trustworthy."
"I orderered two items. An MP3 player and a bluetooth headset. Decent prices. So I go online and order them.
I do not receive a confirmation email of my purchase. Five days later, still nothing. After 2 emails (since you can't check on an order on thier site) I finally get a response that the product I ordered was out of stock. I wasn't informaed of this, it was not listed as out of stock on the site.
So, I ask about the other item. I am told that the second item IS in stock and when both are in stock, they will ship, maybe monday. So, from order to ship will be over a week, and then I have to wait for the product.
Of course I only discovered this after I contacted them.
This is not an isolated event. I had purchased something else from them a few weeks earlier and got the same exact thing. I wrote off the first time as a mistake, but its not, its how they do business. Nothing in stock, keep the customer in the dark, and take as long as possible to respond."
"Deceitful product display. Sell refurbished/used items as "New""
"I've made many purchases from these guys in the past because of their cheap prices. I've never had to try to reach their customer service until now and I have to concur with these other reviewers that their "customer service" is a joke. I had to return some defective merchandise and after emailing them three times asking for an RMA, I got fed up and just mailed it back to them and disputed the charge with my credit card company. The old adage that you get what you pay for again rings true."
"This was the worst service I have every had from an online store. If you plan on calling for support do not plan on talking to an actual person. Also, do not plan on them taking your request seriously. Please do not shop from this company."
"Be very careful of these people. I ordered an item that was sent with missing parts and without documentation. When I was able to reach them, they said that it had no documentation. (This was not mentioned at the web site.) After a lot of back and forth they offered an RMA. It took forever to process and when I got my credit card statement, they slapped a 20% fee because "it was working." I am protesting with the credit card company and will not buy from them again. Some of their items are bargains but many are off brand not intended for the US market. Forget phone calls to these people."
"I purchased a Logitech cordless keyboard & mouse sold as "Condition: New" and received an open-box product that had the serial numbers on the keyboard and mouse crudely marked out with a Sharpie. That's not what I consider "Condition: New". The seller's site included no mention of this poduct being refurbished or marred in any way. Having the serial numbers marked out with a Sharpie is the sort of thing the seller should inform potential buyers about!"
"I ordered a Microsoft Notebook Mouse, but after more than 2 weeks, I emailed them wondering what was going on. They emailed me back and said they were out of the item, which didn't bother me, and they asked if I would like to still order or cancel item. I said to go ahead with order. However, it has been, well, 4 1/2 months since emailing them back that time and then once more. I'm assuming they lost my order or something else happened. Either way, they did respond to my first email and their reason was fine, but after that, everything went downhill. I will most likely not order from them again."
"On 03/26/2006 I placed an order with surpluscomputers.com for a Pacco CIU computer item# COM10692. The item arrived UPS ground on 03/30/2006. Their advertisement indicated the condition of the computer as NEW. What I received was obviously not a new computer, but rather a returned, broken computer that had every indication of being an item sent back to a vendor after the customer was unable to get it working. Then I'm guessing the item was re-sold by the vendor (or manufacture) 'as-is' to surpluscomputers.com along with a pile of other returned hardware. The condition of the computer was as follows: The serial number on the computer did not match the serial number labelled on the box. There were small parts missing, and accessories had been either left plugged together, or placed in plastic bags sealed with scotch tape.
The item, when connected up, was DOA - totally non-functional. I emailed them for an RMA number but instead of receiving one, I received a form which had to be filled in indicating that I waived my right to chargeback the credit card billed for the item, and the same person who sent this item to me (as new/working) was going to check it to decide if the unit was broken or not. Wonder which way that would have gone. Not returning the form 100% filled in would mean no RMA number. If they determined that the computer was working (and new?), I'd of been charged 20% ($100) for 'restocking'. I have never heard of such stipulations for returning a non-working item. If their operation was honest, why would they need such an arrangement? In 30 years I’ve returned maybe 6 items to different companies because of some problem. Normally you contact the company, they apologize for the problem, give you an RMA number and even FAX you a label for UPS shipping at their cost. Once they get the item back a replacement is shipped without additional shipping charged to you. That is the way an honest company handles a problem piece of equipment.
Shipping back the item would be paid for by me, and I would be charged again for shipping a replacement (at 2X the UPS price, $50). There would never be a return of any money, just credit toward buying a replacement computer, or if the product was no longer available, 'a substitute or a similar product' as determined by them.
As the warranty from them was worthless, I fixed it myself. This item would have NEVER worked because what I found was a detached power connection to the hard drive and LCD backlight. As a California based company, misrepresentation is illegal (new means new, not used/broken), but I'm thinking what they have done is a lot worse as they must have known the item was not new when they shipped it.

"I purchased a Microsoft Trackball Optical Wheel Mouse USB from these crooks.
On the website, the condition says NEW, but what they sent me was a dirty and damaged mouse.
The wheel was broken and un-scrollable.
There were dirts and grime all over in the red optical parts, and under the mouse.
I wanted a NEW Microsoft Trackball Optical Wheel Mouse USB, not this trash.
These guys did not send a NEW product, but sent a USED garbage.
I am also submitting official complaints to BBB, Consumer Affairs, and FTC.
AVOID ALL YOU CAN!!"
