I bought a small sd card reader from surplus computers which didn't work. I emailed to try and get an RMA number and never could get one, they wanted me to fax them a bunch of info etc.
I don't have a fax machine, and I don't intend to go spend a couple of dollars at the copy place to send a fax (about a $10 part).
I tried calling on the phone but never could get through to a person. So I gave up for a while.
Later when I again tried to get an RMA number, they say I waited too long, past 90 days.
I have ordered hundreds of computer parts from many different vendors, and have always been able to obtain decent satisfaction-except from these guys. I even liked these guys in the past and bought stuff from their retail store many times. Stay away."

"I ordered from this company a couple of times. They shipped promptly and I got the items exactly as described each time. But it's the way they handled a problem with a small item that made me decide to give them this feedback.
I ordered a battery tester for $4.99, shipped free - obviously not a high-profit item for the seller. It was dead on arrival due to a manufacturing defect, not Surplus Computer's fault since it came sealed in the retail package. I almost felt bad writing to ask them to resolve the problem, but I got a super-friendly reply from a customer service rep saying that the item was important and they were sending me a new one that day without making me send the old one back. The new one arrived today and it works great.
It wasn't just the fact that they replaced the item, but the whole speed and tone of their response exemplified great customer service, all for an item that most vendors probably couldn't be bothered to sell at that price in the first place. It seems like this kind of attitude is all too rare these days so I think they deserve some recognition for it. In my opinion this is a first-class vendor, recommended all the way."
