"I purchased a HLR6768 1080P Samsung DLP from this company and the set failed shortly after the 30 day mark. When I called TVauthority they offered no help other than to deal with the manufaturer. The 5 star program is just that, after 30 days it's your baby. I have read other posts on AVS forum about the sometimes shady practices of this company, so remember that after they get your money and the 30 days are up its you are persona non grata On the 31st day. You will be dealing with the manuafacturer. If i had purchased an extended warranty I would have been in the same boat.
I received a couple private messages from the sales person that sold me the TV but they were basically to try to keep me quiet about this. My TV was not cheap and now it's been repaired once and is still having problems. I have yet to receive any real assitance from anybody including TV authority."

The order in question is #112741. The issue is that while the status page indicates the HDMI blade was shipped and a tracking number issued, I didn't receive the tracking number or the shipment. The order was placed on the 14th, my card was charged on the 30th of December. I've emailed twice, the first time was on December 30th and received no response. I left two phone messages since January 3rd, again no response from TVA. On Friday I called again and actually spoke to a service rep who said she tried to contact the distributor in New York but they were closed and promised to call me back first thing on Monday. On Tuesday I spoke to the sales department and they said they would note the file and contact the customer service department. It's now Wednesday afternoon and once again, no contact from TVA. "
"Had problems stemming from TV Authority repeatedly failing to provide tracking information for an order placed. Several attempts were made to obtain tracking information, none was offered for the first 10 days. My charge card was charged on 1/2 and it's 1/12- no product & no indication it was ever shipped. Many calls and e-mails to complain. Hard to reach people. Finally got product and it looked used. Got ahold of customer service and let them know I was really not happy. They seemed to actually care. Soon I was contacted by the store manager and then again several times by the customer service manager. Much as I was aggravated by my initial experience with them,I must admit they stepped forward to resolve my issues.I was offered a full refund and TV Authority offered to pay shipping charges for the return. I still wanted the video card I had ordered so they allowed me to move to another similar product and charged me only the difference in price between the two items. The second video card was $210 more and that's all I got billed. The second shipment was timely and I was given all the attention and tracking information anybody ever wanted. I have now had the replacement item for several days and I got a follow-up call to make sure I was satisfied with how the story ended. I had the full range of feelings about this company; I went from being sure I got ripped off to knowing TV Authority appartently does care about customer satisfaction. They still did allow a situation that was unacceptable and their initial poor service was inexcusable...BUT they made it right! This says a lot about a company in my opinion. My choice of internet vendors eventually paid off and when the smoke cleared I got a good deal and feel like I would buy from them again. I'll have to change my overall feeling from VERY UNSATISFIED to SATISFIED!

"I found the price to be the best part of this site. I have contacted sales + customer service for 3 days now with no response on a tracking number for my order. When one pays over 1k for a tv, i would think they would get a tracking number for the tv. I have yet to get any response from them about this. They've told me over and over again tomorrow they will have the number. Their phones dont work, every extension you dial (except a specific persons extension) leads you right to a voice mail, This has been like that since the day of my order. I was told this was going to be fixed the first day. Where's my tv, and why cant i talk to anyone on the phone about it???"

"I bought a Pannasonic 42" plasma display. I decided on the Pannasonic TH-42PWD8UK based on lots of research over the last year on plasma displays. Panasonic clearly has an edge over other plasma manufactures where blacks and overall image quailty is concerned. Anyway, I decided on TV Authority based on the favorible results and the low price here at resellerratings.com. My experience was favorible but would like to point out that there was a slight delay of one week in shipping. Also, the stand I ordered was back ordered and I was required to purchase the stand from another vendor since a sales person told me there was a nationwide shortage of the stand I ordered (Panasonic TY-ST08K) and they probably wouldn't have any in until after the first of the year. I appreciated his honesty and found out what he said was true as I contacted five vendors around the nation before I finally found one that had the stand in stock. I feel they need to improve there tracking notification. I received the tracking notification approximately 7 hours after I received the plasma display. Generally speaking, I feel TV Authority makes a sincere effort in delivering what they promise though. I would rate my experience 9 out of 10 stars. There customer service personel are friendly and helpful though call backs are lacking."
"AWFUL!!!! Ordered 52inch Toshiba on Dec.5. Was damaged severely in shipping. Still have not received my replacement. Should have received by Dec 19th. Tomorrow is Christmas and no gift for the family!!! MANY promises made. Very bad customer service. Does not return calls until end of business day on occasion and then get the complete run-around! Would not recommend!!! Out over $2000 and still no TV!!!! "
"I already knew what I wanted to buy, so I never tested the knowledge of TVA. However, they were very friendly, even if I bugged them too much about order status. On a slightly negative note, they didn't inform me of delays in delivery (manufacturer's fault for the delays, not theirs) until I asked."

Many on-line or discount merchants low-ball others and if you do not purchase grossly inflated related items to make up the difference, you are most likely in for a bad experience. TVA had a great price, great customer service, no pressure for additional sales (in fact, none were offered, I had to ask for the extended warranty) and the product was delivered on time. "I was looking for a Panasonic 42/50" plasma TV, and had pretty much settled on the TH-50px500U, and contacted TVA looking for a price on that unit. Needless to say, they (and everyone else) didn't have any in stock. My Sales Rep ( Aaron)asked if I had considered the Hewlett Packard PL5000N Plasma. I'd never heard that HP made TVs so he gave me the specs and a price quote. I checked it out at AVSFORUM.com and CNET.com, and found very favorable information--in fact, the HP was a relabeled Panasonic! How could I go wrong? Put in the order in on a Tuesday, order shipped and I received it on the following Wednesday. Only snafu was that Fedex didn't have "inside delivery" listed on the shipping info, but a quick email to TVA took care of that, and I was busy watching HDTV that night! OUTSTANDING experience, I would order again and highly recommend TVA. "

If you are lucky and got product you like you are OK, but if any thing will go wrong you are going to have big headache.
I got DLP TV Samsung 6768w from them using 5 star program (mean you can return set for any reason during 30 days and some other so say benefits). It was about $500-$700 more then I could buy it from some where else, but because of 5 star programs I decided to go with it.
1. Representative was good and professional when he was trying to sell me this set. But later when I had a problem I couldn’t get a respond for weeks.
2. Few days later after they sell me TV, they drop prices for this set $250 down. I asked for some refund and they even didn’t want to talk about it. I just couldn’t get any respond back not my e-mail not by phone.
3. They should check TV before send it. TV was defective in picture quality, or it maybe I just was expecting more then I should, but any way because of 5 star program, I decided to return it and got respond that I will have to pay $400 for delivery they spend, plus amount for return delivery.
4. Then I asked to replace it For Samsung DLP 7178w. Price difference from what I paid for 6768 and price on 7178 on the moment I request for replacement only $500, but representative ask me to pay $750. When I asked where is $250 extra came from? Representative says it shipment charges. In their advertisement for pre-order they promised next

According 5 Star program they should replace set for other module with out asking why I’m replacing it; this is why I’m paying more money just to have this option. And according their power buy promises, they should waive shipment charges when replacing sets.
In this case they didn’t honor their own promises.
