"Update: 3rd order, in April 2009. Super fast shipping again. Although I found 1 store online that was $0.99 cheaper than thenerds, Nerds won my business because of the luck I've had with them.
This is my 2nd order with TheNerds.net. The first order in October went okay, had to call because my order took 3 business days to ship instead of their quoted 1, but I still received it timely. This time it went even smoother. It shipped the same day, and I received it 2 business days later. They were the lowest price on the web at the time, and the day after I ordered it they droped the price by $15! Too bad they don't price match. I haven't set it up to test it yet, but everything appears good."

Their website looked pretty basic but it was cheaper than NewEgg and I did not have to pay tax.(Nearly 10% in CA)

"Ordered 4/2/09 a camcorder. Told it was backordered on 4/3/09 and will be credited back. It is 4/10/09 and have not seen the payment credited back.
Ordered on 4/3/09 a different camcorder and notice I had a wrong shipping address. Send two emails on 4/3/09 and 4/4/09. No response.
Called customer service on 4/5/09 twice and had to wait minimum of 15 minutes before a rep answered. Was told I cannot change shipping address since it is a binding contract by the first guy. Called back again the second time and was told it has shipped and cannot change the address nor help me call Fedex to reroute. No tracking # was available yet.
On 4/6/09, I called again. First call took 14 minutes to get thru. First guy tried tracking my shipment since I do not have a tracking number. Placed me on hold and hung up on me. Tried again and the second call got thru immediately and the rep managed to call the warehouse to get a status. Turns out my shipment has not gone out or scheduled. Managed to change my shipping address after 2 emails and 4 calls and spending 67 minutes on my cell phone.
Pros: Cheap price even with their ridiculous shipping charges.
Cons: Worst customer service I had ever experienced. Outrageous shipping fee.
In conclusion, if you can find a comparable price at other 5 star online merchant, do not buy from thenerds.net. If you do decide to buy from them, pray you do not have to deal with their customer service !"

I cancelled my order, when I talked to the manager of cust service he informed me that he would have to wait until they recieved the gps back to credit my card back, including the cost of the memory card that was never shipped. He informed me that he could do anything he wanted; give me $10,000 or just give me a free gps! But he would not refund the cost of the never shipped memory card and the gps that he had stopped delivery of. Each time the prices on the items (lateral files) were much lower (over $100) than anyone else, the shipping costs were lower than other vendors, and the items were delivered within a couple of days instead of the 1-2 weeks that other suppliers would have taken. "Overall the prices were excellent. They did not have the narrow hutch in the office furniture set that I was ordering. I called to see if it was just not posted and the person that answered was quite rude. I went ahead and ordered the rest of the pieces anyway because of the savings. I was so surprised when I received my order the next day. The shipping was very inexpensive considering it was really heavy office furniture and the freight/delivery company they used were great. When we started to build one of the units, it stated box 2 of 2 on the box and we were missing parts. The next day I called and called and could not get through on the 800 number and nobody to this day has responded to my email. I called the manufacturer directly and they told me that there are 2 boxes and many companies sell them separately even though you can not use either piece separately. That is why the price looked so good online! I finally got through to someone and they told me that I needed to order the other box and he would fix the website to specify that. Anyway the piece basically cost me double and I could have purchased all the pieces from the store I had ordered the narrow hutch from but I was trying to save money.I guess I still saved on shipping charges but I was not happy with the way this piece was priced, compared and sold. They compare their price for half the unit with other stores that sell both pieces as a complete unit. It's fixed now online but it was frustrating! I think they could have atleast given me a price break since it was their mistake but I had to pay full price (oh and it increased this week) for the other half."

"ok....here it is. My first time ordering from The Nerds. I placed the order, because they had the lowest price on the item that I wanted to purchase. This was advertised as a new item (tv stand). It arrived when I was away at work, so it was left at the house. When I got home and looked at the box it arrived in, I thought uh oh, the box was in tatters. So, I nervously opened the box. It was no surprise, when I found the contents damaged. One of the three glass shelves was badly scratched, but not broken or chipped. The big problem is the back support of the unit, which is MDF, it is cracked in two places. I can't take a chance placing an expensive tv, and stereo equipment on this stand. I am not even sure that it will fit together considering the damage.
So here's the thing, I am in the process of contacting The Nerds, for their response.
I expect them to replace the unusable part of the stand without a charge. I will let everybody know if The Nerds stand behind their products....... stay tuned.
