"I wish that I read some of these reviews before I ordered from this company. They are VERY UNETHICAL and DISHONEST. I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 265wt from this company on 12/3/08 for my father for Christmas. He didn't want it, so I called on 1/2/09 (30 days later and well within their return policy), but they told me I needed to get and "exception" return authorization. I waited the 15 business days they told me it would take. I had to call again since I didn't hear from them. Three days later I receive the RMA with a note stating that there is a 20% restocking fee. I emailed them back immediately, quoting their return policy and stating that the 20% fee does not apply to this order. After no response, I called them and they had the following excuses, in this order:
1. All resaleable items are subject to a 20% restocking fee. When I asked Andy to show me where that is stated in their return policy, he told me, "I cannot show you that right now."
2. Then he said it was old. I had to remind him how long it took them to get me an RMA.
3. Then he said it was an exception return because I requested the return more than 30 days after purchase, which clearly it wasn't.
Andy kept stonewalling me. I plan on telling my story to every website I can and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, Florida State Attorney General's office and possibly calling the media. They have NO idea who they are dealing with. This is THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH.

"TOTALLY DISHONEST OUTFIT. I completely got ripped off. Ordered a VERY expensive AV Receiver and paid extra for rush shipping. First of all, there was no rush, and they were not interested in giving my my rush money back. I got the run around about how the credit card company held funds yada yada yada... Finally received the product 8 days later... Had my receiver professionally installed and set up.. and it ran ok for the first week or two, then nothing but problems since. HDMI does not work.. can't get audio or video from any of the ports.. I called The Nerds to tell them about the problem and I was told to contact the Manufacturer for Warranty.

Contacted the manufacturer only to find out THEY ARE NOT AUTHORIZED dealers. Called the nerds back and spoke to Eric, x 120 (as many of you know) and was told they purchase through STAMPEDE, who is Authorized. I called DENON back and they again told me, no go.. I made a bad purchase. THE NERDS specifically show on their website there is a 30 day return policy and DIRECT MANUFACTURE SUPPORT...

ALL I AM GETTING IS DIRECTLY shafted. The Manufacture says NOPE and they said its not their problem.

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE.. they will not back you up and have "0" customer support. I too am putting a claim into the Better Business Bureau.

"Avoid these guys. Unethical business behavior. They are playing the float game with your money. They will hit your credit card the day you order and make continuous excuses for the next 4-6 weeks why they can not ship your product. I ordered on 12/4/08 and they finally shippped my item on 12/30 after 4-6 phone calls. Sure, they are very sincere and polite, but that is all part of the stall game. I did finally get the item I ordered, but I wonder how long it would have taken if I didn't start calling them every week. I also was issued a small credit and this took they 16 days to hit my credit card. Funny how they can hit your card in 1 day when you order, but it takes 16 days when it's a credit. Pay a few buck's more and order from Amazon or someone else. You will have your item at your door in 3 days and they won't abuse your credit card."

"Shopping was not an issue. It was relatively simple for this business to accept my order, take my money, and deliver the product. I have no issues pertaining to this sequence. However, the support is sorely lacking. My purchase was a Rhino Skin for a 13" MacBook. The strap broke at the swivel so I initiated contact with the seller for some assistance. Apparently, thenerds.net are overwhelmed with business because the common courtesy of a simple response never appeared. Fortunately, the manufacturers of the product assume an opposite perspective. Upon contact them, a replacement strap was IMMEDIATELY sent via UPS without cost to me. Consequently, I will NEVER do business with thenerds.net in the future. Sales is a small portion of customer statisfaction, while service is everything. It is extremely irritating when an online business is unwilling to take the time to respond to an email inquiry.

"I ordered Belkin retractable USB 2.0 cables that were listed for $3.99 each on The Nerds website. A picture of the cables was shown so I figured I didn't need to read the description, after all a picture is worth a thousand words, right? Wrong!
The package arrived today, and regular 3 ft. USB cables were enclosed. I quickly called The Nerds to report the error and was on hold for twenty minutes until Eric a customer service rep. answered, and basically told me that I should've read the description and that they aren't responsible for pictures on their website.
He quoted me an additional $5 or so for each retractable cable. When I balked and said that I wanted them for the price that was shown he said he couldn't do that.
He then said he would send me a mailing label to send the package back, and put me on hold again, and then cut me off. It's now almost a day later and no return call or even an e-mail to say sorry we cut you off or let's try to rectify this situation. This whole experience shows me that The Nerds are pretty complacent about good customer service and they don't give a rat's behind about keeping customers.
The Nerds is guilty of Bait and Switch in my opinion. This is my first and last time ordering from them.

"I'm in the same boat with all the others that suffered due to their bait and switch on the battery deal. I order the 72 9v batteries and received 12. When I inquired about this they said and error was made and they would send return instructions. A couple days later I reminded them that I was waiting for the return instructions. They then sent an RMA number but no pre-paid label for shipping. I emailed them telling them that they had obviously discovered the problem prior to shipping since the invoice in the box had a different description than my email confirmation. They also want me to ship to Florida instead of Utah where the package came from. This is a racket and I'm very dissatisfied and upset. I will NOT ever buy from them again. "

"BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I ordered a birthday present of a Logitech Squeezebox Duet for $278.99 before 9.99 shipping. It listed that there were over 2000 in stock.

It was a classic case of too good to be true. After giving plenty of time to process and receive my package, I contacted TheNerds.net on December 12 by phone after still not having a tracking number. Was on hold for about 15 minutes until someone answered and then another 15 minutes while they were on hold with the warehouse.

I also put in an email help request for a status update on my order and asked that in order to not ruin the birthday I was buying it for that they ship the item immediately overnight at their expense.

I was very understanding considering it's the holidays and all, but asking them to have the item delivered by Dec 17 was not out of line based on their stated shipping and delivery policies on their web site. Of course, on December 16 at 5:30PM (too late to order from anyone else for overnight shipping in time for the birthday- Thanks Nerds! :eyeroll:), I received an email that my order was refunded because the item was not available.

It should have read. "WE F'D UP. EVEN THOUGH WE CURRENTLY SHOW OVER 2000 OF THE ITEM IN STOCK ON OUR SITE AS I AM SENDING THIS MESSAGE, WE CAN'T SHIP IT TO YOU. SOMEHOW YOU FOUND A REALLY GOOD DEAL ON OUR SITE AND WE DON'T WANT TO HONOR IT. BUT WE FIGURED WE'D JUST HOLD YOUR MONEY AS LONG AS WE POSSIBLY COULD BEFORE NOT SHIPPING IT AND ISSUING A CREDIT, SUCKER."

Whatever. Ended up having to give a card with a printout as the present while having it shipped from somewhere else. I won't do business with these yahoos again. Waste of my time and likely a waste of yours. Buyer beware of TheNerds.net

"This appears to be a "bait and switch" outfit.

I placed an order for 144 AA Duracell CopperTop batteries from TheNerds.net for a total of $23.98 including shipping. The item description was “BATTERY,ALK,COPPERTOP,AA,144”. The confirmation email said "MN1500BKD DURACELL BATTERY,COPPERTOP,AA,144" I received my shipment on 12/15/2008, but it was too light to include 144 AA batteries.

I emailed them on 12/15 and received no response. On 12/16/2008, I called TheNerds.net Customer Service at ***-***-**** and told them of the apparent quantity discrepancy. They informed me that there was nothing they would do. Apparently knew they had a discrepancy with the quantities and were unwilling to accept the fact that they had advertised 144 (when the product page, conf email all claim so). I told them I have a screen capture of the product (I do this for all internet orders) and that also shows 144 batteries but they would not even fess up to that. The only thing he told me was that they've "dealt with" numerous customers and that "management was unwilling to accept the product was advertised to be 144 pieces". I asked him about a return shipping label, and he refused to pay return shipping either claiming it was not their problem.

I told him that I would dispute the charge with my CC company and he told me “Fine.”

TheNerds.net exhibited deceptive business practices with poor customer service/interaction. There was no offer to cancel the order, no communication before shipping an incorrect product and a complete apathy towards the customer. I would never do business with them again. Buyer - beware...
