"The Good: I ordered from thenerds.net because they had the lowest price for a FireGL card I was looking for. Overall I saved about $40. Customer service answers their phone within a couple of minutes.

The mediocre: I ordered Friday morning and they shipped my item the following Monday.

The Bad: They charged $32 dollars for shipping a 4 lb package. I wouldn't be complaining if it didn't take 8 days (6 of them business days).

Bottom line: If you can save some money ordering from the nerds.net do it only if you don't mind waiting over a week for your item. I would have ordered the same item again if it didn't take so long to get it.

Update:: Turns out the tracking information I was reading was wrong... the item was delivered July 3 instead of the 8th. It was a pleasent surprise and considering that I had an overall good experience with thenerds.net and I would do business again.

"I ordered 3 parts for a chief projector mount (RPA-U, extention column, and in-wall bracket). They say it takes 24-72 hours to ship and it's true. They sent a tracking number and when i recieved the package (which was fast) it was only 1 of the 3 items (it looked like it was drop shipped from manufacturer). I called up and emailed and they never got back to me. 3 days later, I recieved the other 2 parts. The prices are great, and the items came in immaculate condition, I think their customer service leaves alot to be desired, but I would definitely order from them again. "

"Ordered a Samsung multifunction color laser printer online on a Saturday. Price listed was lower by between $96-200 compared to other online retailers. Was a bit nervous about them, having never heard of this retailer before, but took the shot anyway for $737 including shipping.
Got a call from a very friendly customer service rep on Monday to confirm address (security check which I appreciate), and no attempt to upsell any product.
Printer was shipped on that day (Monday) with a tracking number soon posted on my account page, and an email sent to me confirming shipment. Fedex tracking indicated delivery date by the appropriate shipping method.
Company is located in South Florida, but the shipment originated in Chicago, which indicates to me that TheNerds.net works with drop-shippers, and that is fine with me (keeps the prices down).
Long story short... I was extremely pleased with the entire ordering process and interaction with the company. I would not hesitate to do business with them again as long as their price is the lowest of my preferred online shopping sources for a product I am looking to purchase. (Not ALL their prices are the best, but I will always check them for desired products, and buy if their price is lowest).
You can feel secure doing business with them. No problems whatsoever.

UPDATE:
Received the printer a day earlier than expected! The printer was in a box that weighed a total of 104 pounds! Original box and untouched. The printer is awesome and was painless to set up on my home network in a combined Windows/Mac mix. The printer came directly from Ingram Micro (got this from the Fedex tracking info) who are the largest computer equipment/software wholesalers in the world. TheNerds.net obviously are a Ingram authorized reseller, and they drop ship directly from Chicago which is why TheNerds pricing can be so low. VERY PLEASED with the whole transaction, and will definitely do business again!

"I have ordered numerous items from TheNerds and had been very satisfied until now. I ordered an upgrade copy of Diskeeper 2008 Server in order to upgrade my version 8 software. When the package arrived, it had a sticker on the front of the CD case indicating the upgrade only worked with version 10 or later. I did not break the seal on the package and immediately contacted TheNerds. Seems there is no return on software regardless of the reason and they suggested I contact the manufacture. Diskeeper was very cooperative but unable to do anything for me since I had not bought it from them.

I have spent a couple of thousand with them over time and I sure won't deal with them again. My word of warning here is to check their return policy on anything you consider buying from them. There is a long list of products that they will not accept back even if it arrives DOA.

"I ordered a transfer belt for my printer on April 7, 2008. Today, May 14, I have still not received it. TheNerds.net gave me the runaround saying they don't know what happened, and that they would ship a replacement via overnight immediately. "Immediately" apparently means 1 week, because that's how long it took for them to get the order out. Of course, they did not overnight the order, but shipped it via ground.

Over the past year we have spent over $5,000 ordering items from TheNerds. They screwed up one time and gave me ground shipping when I paid for overnight, but they made up for it and I gave them another chance. Unfortunately, something like this happening two orders in a row is too much and I will no longer shop at TheNerds.net.

"The nerds are awesome... they have the lowest prices on the web, and they also have a great delivery time. I would recommend them to anyone.

I actually doubted I was getting the real product for the price I was paying, but when it arrived, it was brand new in the box!

Other companies I've bought some sell things as new that have been opened. That's why I'll buy anything I can from the nerds.

"I have not been able to resolve a serious customer satisfaction issue with your company. When I request an escalation, I am told “no one is available”. I ordered an L-shaped desk and file cabinet on 3/8/2008 (order#811367). My credit card was charged immediately. On March 17th, one small piece of my order was delivered. It was only the desk top to one side of the L-shaped desk. Missing was the desk pedestal with file drawers and the return desk, along with the separate lateral file. After calling several times for a ship date on the rest of the order, each time I was told it would be shipped that day. When I called on 4/2, I was told that the desk I ordered came in separate pieces and I only ordered one piece. That is not at all what your website stated when I ordered. It was a full L-shaped desk. Your customer service rep said they discovered this recently and had now updated the website. I find it hard to believe that the item I ordered which cost $413 was for only a desk top when the picture & description is an L-shaped desk. At this point, I still had not received the separate lateral file ordered and paid for a month ago. Rather than do business with a company that uses bait & switch tactics, I told him to cancel the order and credit my account. He promised a credit in 48 hours and said they would schedule a pick up for the one small piece of my order that had been delivered.
As I have still not received my credit, I called customer service again today. Now I am told I will not get my credit until you receive the desk top back. It is up to you to pick it up and you have not even scheduled a pick up yet. Either deliver the items I ordered or give me a full credit immediately.

"I ordered what they (and the manufacturer, HON) advertised as stacking stools. They did not stack (through no fault of thenerds.net). I requested an RA# and returned them per my instructions. The shipment was refused by the nerds. My calls into them go unanswered and not returned. Today is 4/8/08 and I still have these stools sitting in a Miami warehouse trying to fix this debacle THEY created. Ian Wolfe in returns is completely unreliable. Do not expect to return anything to these people! Do NOT expect customer service! Once they get their money, they wash their hands clean of you. Here I sit with a freight bill AND storage bill. Don't you fall in the same rut!"

"These people are NOT trustworthy!!

I called to order some lamps that I needed NEXT DAY. I was assured several times that they WERE in stock and would go right out. I received a call an hour later to confirm my address and again was assured that they were being shipped right away for next day delivery,

The next day came and went, no shipment. I called the following morning to find out where my order was only to be told that they were on back/order.

I was lied to several times by more than one person. And to make it even worse, it has now been a week since that incident and they are just NOW processing my refund!! It will probably be ANOTHER week before I get my money back.

I missed an important deadline and could not even shop elsewhere because they hung onto my money.

I will NEVER trust these jerks again!!
