"I love The Digital Hunter! I can't believe I stumbled upon such an amazing site with incredible discounts and it's not a scam. I talked to a rep on the phone just now and he actually suggested a lens that was less expensive because it was better for my needs and he was so nice and helpful! I have dealt with some screwy companies in the past and it is such a relief to have The Digital Hunter meeting all my digital needs. I am what you call a happy customer, and I will be returning!"
"A bait-and-switch online vendor. They advertised an extremely competitive price for a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight, and after I ordered it, they informed me that it's discontinued and out-of-stock."
"I placed an order online for a canon 17-55mm f/2.8 lens on 07/14/2011. It was at a ridiculously low price and there was another 5% discount on it so the total price was $740.05 (wow). I read the reviews about this site here but still decided to go ahead with my order. As usual I got an email saying I have to contact them to verify my order, I called them up, the cutomer support representative told me that the one I'm ordering has a plastic mount and if this is for a digital camera I have to buy the lens with steel mount which sells for $1200 but he can sell me one for $999 bla, bla, blah...... I said I'm fine with plastic mount :D I really wanted to see how can they give me a lens with plastic mount. I orderd at 11:26am, 11:47am I received email saying I have to call them, I spoke to the representative immediately. I received an email at 12:08pm (i.e. with in few min of my conversation with their customer support) the lens is out of stock, it will take 1-2 weeks to get it. I thought I'll wait and see what these jokers are doing to my order. So I waited but couple of days later I called up Canon and confirmed that Canon don't make any lens with plastic mount. So theDigitalHunter.com is cheating people saying plastic mount and steel mount. After my call with canon I decided to cancel my order. I cancelled it on 07/22/2011. The cancellation process was easy. I just sent an email and they cancelled it. I got a reply in 2 min saying my order was cancelled. Through out this time (even at the time of writing this review) I have been checking their site this lens is always in stock. Please don't waste your time with these guys.
The conclusion: There is no plastic mount lens that canon manufactures. If they can sell one with plastic mount that must be from one of their friend making "his own" canon lens in China :) These guys are cheat. Stay away from them. "
"I placed an order for a Nikon 70-300mm lens online and 12 hours later I received an email indicating a problem with my order and wanted me to call their rep to resolve the issue. hmmmm... watch out here! So I called. Then first the rep wanted to verify my credit card security code and then of course He said " Youd sure you want this lens??... this is a imported model which comes with some cheap plastic parts instead metal, but for $100 more I can get you the USA model with matel mounting" Then he went on promting Sigma lens which is not what I want. (I think they get fat commission with Sigma)
Bottom line is, they are trained to shift your interest by promoting other products and hook you by offering discounted product on web but with "little issues". Think about it... if I have problem with my creit card information in the first place then I won't even pass beyond their check out page. Thats what step 1,2,3 and "almost done" verification are for .... right? You be the Judge."
"This was a very smooth transaction. The camera package was exactly like they promised and arrived in a very quick manner. I will buy another camera from The Digital Hunter in the near future."
"I purchased my first DSLR camera (Canon 60D) from Digital Hunter. I spent many hours over several days and found Digital Hunter prices to be very affordable, in fact they have the best prices on-line. I am always concerned about internet purchases and after the purchase support. I was comforted with their telephone number being prominately displayed, and more comforted when a live person answered the phone when placing my order. Stephen was my sales person and was very knowledgable about my camera and what I would need to take the pictures I wanted to take. Stephen helped me put a package together that included the revered Canon 3yr Premier extended warranty as well as the 60D and Canon's 18-135mm lens plus memory and extended batteries. All this for the price that Best-Buys sells the camera and lens for.
Even after receiving my purchase and finding what I concidered a discrepency, Ben in customer service was helpful in resolving the issue.
If your looking for quality at a discount price then look no further that Digital Hunter for you camera needs.
Thank you Stephen & Ben.
Sincerely,
Marion V. Hayes - Reno, NV."
"Not sure how to rate my experience with this company, in the end I will hopefully end up with a good quality lens. I will update this review once my order is completed."
"This company gives false information and encourages you to by accessories that you don't want or need.
I ordered a Panasonic TM900 Camcorder for $749 from Digital Hunter and was talked into buying a 8GB memory card for $199 along with other accessories. I was also told that the battery would be upgraded for an additional $99. Steven was a very slick salesman. He said that it was a special type of memory card. I thought that was a ridiculous price for a memory card, but made the mistake of ordering it anyway. I don't know how I could have been so stupid, but after doing some research online, I decided that I didn't want the memory card. It was 75 minutes later and I called back to cancel the memory card. Customer service told me that the order was written up as a package so a manager would have to call me back. The manager did not call me that day, Saturday they were closed, Sunday I did not hear from them so Monday I called them again. At that time I was told that the order was already mailed, but to call when I receive the order and they would give me a RMA # and I could return the memory card and the $199 would be credited to my account.
The website states that if you “buy any camcorder or camera you get a soft case - $29.99 value, mini-tripod - $19.99 value, cleaning kit - $19.99 value, and screen protectors - $9.99 value.” I did not receive any of these items.
Beware of the “60 day return policy – your satisfaction is our guarantee” stated on the website. In the email I received after placing my order there was different information that contradicted the 60day return policy.
When the order arrived I called to return the memory card and Ben (who said he was a manager of customer service) told me that the memory card was not $199 (it was only worth $89 despite that it is listed on their website at $349 and I could NOT just return the memory card. I also told him that I did not receive the upgraded battery, but he said that the VW-VBN130 was the upgrade and would last for 5 hours. I told him that the VW-VBN130 is listed on the box as the supplied battery and according to the manual maximum continuous recording time is 1 hours 35 minutes. He said that I was mistaken. When I charged the battery it gave me 1 hour and 35 minutes NOT the 5 hours he claimed. This was obviously a lie.
I suggested returning ALL of the accessories that Steven talked me into adding to my order and just keep the camcorder. On the website the camcorder was $749 when I ordered it, reduced to $719 a week later and now three weeks later it is listed at $689. Ben said that the camera was really $899. He said the $749 model is an import and everything is written in Japanese. In order to find this information, he told me I had to click on the specifications tab and then click on the word imported. Steven never disclosed this information when I told him I wanted the $749 camcorder.
I decided to return the entire order (camera and accessories) and was told that there would be a 15% restocking fee. I made the mistake of saying that I would not be filling out a favorable survey. Ben began to yell at me and said that the restocking fee had just increased to 40%! I was shocked at the 25% increased restocking fee and he said if I was going to give the company a bad survey I was going to pay for it. I asked him what kind of scam was he running? He said that according to New York law they could charge up to 50% for restocking an item. He continued to raise his voice and interrupt me when I tried to talk.
After 7 phone calls and 2 hours dealing with Ben, It was agreed that I could return the memory card and the $199 would be refunded to my account, but there was a catch. I had to fill out the surveys with 5 star ratings. After he saw that I had filled out the surveys, he would email the RMA# to me and would credit my account when the memory card was returned. I was BRIBED to give them a 5 star rating! I wonder how accurate any of the other surveys are and if other customers been "strong armed" into rating this company high. I agreed to fill out the 5 stars ratings and get my credit. I received the $199 credit, have accessories that I will not use, and spent $250 more than I had planned. I was not totally happy with the outcome, but at least I managed to recover $200 of the extra $450 that I had been charged. I will write this off as a learning experience. Now that I have the credit, I am resubmitting the surveys so others can have the full truth and make an informed decision. I can NOT recommend ordering from this company.

"It was a good experience shopping with these folks. Though I ultimately did not end up buying the product, just the way David was patient with my questions and also was able to hold the order till I decided (or ultimately backed off) was very nice. They were very accommodating about the cancellation too and I got the cancellation mail within the hour.
There were in fact some clarifications with the product (international/ US versions) as has been mentioned several times in this forum which ultimately led to my confusion and cancellation, but I would not discredit the company.
If at all I intend to buy the product again, I would definitely be getting in touch with them. "
"Great and Timely service!! Well informed staff. They explained the details of the lens and technicalities very well. definately will be looking forward to doing business with the digital hunter again !!"
