"The Digital Hunter is a dishonest company and i don't recomend them to anyone. I ordered a flash and it didn't work with my canon 60D sent it back for an replacement and never got the replacement now I am fighting the charge DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!!!"

"On September 8th ordered a Canon EOS T3i w/lense. Next day got a call from their customer service department stating they needed to confirm the 3 digit code on the back of my Visa (seemed odd as it was included in my original purchase). Was given an upsale pitch on the lense, battery, memory, charger, and priority shipping and that he could get it out in the next delivery. Told him I wasnt in a rush and the free shipping was fine, the lense with the composit material (vs. steel mount) would be fine as it was going to be an extra lense anyway, and that as this was a backup body I didnt want the battery, memory, or charger either--stuff I already had. I just wanted my order as placed. He asked me to look at the lense page and the lense I ordered had actually gone on sale that day and he agreed to extend that price to me, upon my request--to his credit, he sent an email reflecting same the new price (Canon EOS T3i body and a 18-135mm lense w/non-steel mount for $595.24 w/free shipping). Within a couples of minutes after hanging up with him, an email popped up into my email account saying my order was on "back order". I called back and was advised that I could cancel my order and check back with them later or I could just let it sit until the backorder was filled and to check back with them every week or so for an update. I sent them an email earlier this week and have heard back from them yet. My concerns:
1. the "I need to speak with you re your three digit code..." felt more like an orchestrated opportunity to upsale or change the order I placed than an actual need to verify information.
2. the "back order" status felt like a strategy to let the order sit unfilled until it died.
I'm not out anything, so..., so far all it has cost me is my time. For now, I'm so-so with "The Digital Hunter"... Will update all once I knw how this plays out.

Update September 26, 2011: Cancelled my order this morning. As per their request, sent them my order number last week and they never responded. Called this morning, they stated as it was a non-USA camera body (first I had heard of that). I suspect he meant it was "grey market" unit as ALL T3i cameras, as per Canon USA, are USA specifications. The only difference would be the grey market camera (i.e., cameras not pruchased through U.S. distributors) wouldn't have a valid warranty. When they said it would take yet another 2 or 3 weeks to get the camera in (their website states it ships in 1 or 2 days), I lost all confidence in "The Digital Hunter" and decided to look elsewhere. Good luck and buyer beware!!

"This is now the third time that I have modified my comment. I initially made an entry a few days ago after I recieved a lens that I did not originally order. I originally placed'an order for a canon 70-300mm lens and after placing was asked to call the company to confirm the order. When I called I spoke with a salesman who told me the lens that I ordered was not entirely compatible with my Canon 60D and that the New Sigma 70-300mm PE Series fresh out of Japan was better suited and superior. i told the salesman that I wanted to do more research, but alas when I got off the phone I discovered an email with a sales reciept stating the order was placed and shipped. When I called back I was told if I didnt like the lens I coud send it bac. In the meantime I contacted a Sigma representative and inquired about this reported new line of lens described on the website. I was told no such line existed and that lens had been out since 2005. I again contact the sales rep at digitalhunter and requested that they sent me product infirmation on the lens I was to recieve, however, no such info was sent. When I recieved the lens I sent the serial number into Sigma who told me that the lens was there garden variety 70-300mm lens DG with macro worth about 200$ (I was charged nearly 400$) and that no variations existed in the quality of manufacturing of this particular model existed. I then posted my original review on this website.

I then received a call from Ben in customer services at thedigitalhunter who reviewed my transaction and agreed to replace the Sigma lens that I recieved in error for the lens I originally ordered, that being a brand new Canon 70-300mm USM IS (Mfr # 0345B002) at no extra charge (i.e. no restocking fees, no shipping, no other fees). In exchange he asked me to change my review to 5 stars, after which he would make the exhange. Today, I had to call Ben back after I modified the original review and upgraded them to a 5-star (I just want the original lens I ordered!) even though he assured me nearly 24 hours previous that he would be looking for my changes and would email me. He then immediately shot me an email with a return number and address....which means I will have to flip the shipping bill, and still no absolute assurance that I would recieve the replacement lens in the end.

On further consideration, it is clear to me in my interactions with these folks that they really were not interested in hearing or addressing my concerns about possible false advertisement. In fact when I expressed these concerns the salesman and even Ben became curt and even surly. After reading the reviews placed by other people about this website it is clear that my experience has been shared by others demonstrating a pattern of behavior.

So, Ben, please don't call me anymore. If you want me modify my entry this is what I want you to do: Overnight to me the original lens I ordered with a prepaid shipping label for me to send back the misrepresented Sigma lens that you sent me. Also, outline the product details on the New Sigma 70-300mm DG SLR lens, PE edition that is advertised for 599$ on your website ( http://www.thedigitalhunter.com/products.asp?dept_id=10057&product_id=1110Clearly ). Clearly we could all stand a lesson on this model, even Sigma

"This place is a SCAM. I called about a Canon L Lens and was steered to a Sigma (garbage in comparison) told them I would think about it and not to process anything. I researched on line and realized SIgma was crap. Amazingly my card was charged without my consent for something that I never knew existed minutes before. Two emails and two calls no call back. I will be calling my VISA back and filing Affidavit and notarized complaint. I have contacted the better business bureau and the Wisconsin Consumer rights affairs office. Tomorrow I am returning a email to Amazon who steered me towards these crooks. Tell everyone you know DIGITAL HUNTER is a DIGITAL SCAMM WEBSITE. Spend your money anywhere else with Americans.

UPDATE FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 16,2011---

These criminals claimed they had "no idea who I was" LOL. They asked that the post be removed. I emailed the host all info including several emails to and from. Apparently after reading other posts not written by the company this is the norm for their attempt to swindle hard working Americans out of their money. A legitimate company would have an address listed. I tracked them down to the east coast and passed on info to federal LE and VISA.

"UPDATE: I called Ben, the owner of The Digital Hunter. He has agreed to refund me my money in full $1,515.00 after making an honest mistake on their end by shipping an incorrect lens to me. I expect a RMA number from him now so I can return the incorrect Canon lens to them for a full refund.
