Seller beware!

"I sent off a large bag of name brand clothing and two leather ( one never worn) label handbags. Iiteraally got pennies on the dollar. The hold on to clothing that doesn't sell and tell you the consignment time is up and to claim the items, without any instructions how to do so. This is a scam! Theyre making money odf picking and choosing merchandise that costs them nothing except a bult shipping rate. I would n ever again deal with this compoany. They p rocessed what I sent them weeks and weeks late. They are not honest! Dont waste ypur time and effort for pennies , literally pennies on the dollar! Give away to thrift shops and get a tax refund, or go to a local resale store. These up is a scam"

Disappointed Long Time Customer

"I have been shopping with thred up for almost 2 years now and have loved the quality of items I have bought off their site. I have sold to them plenty of times with their clean out bag system, and while I haven't always received the best turn out as far as cashing out big after selling my items to thred up, it never really bothered me much until today. I just received an email saying a clean out bag I sent in has been received and out of a bag that I knew would be worth more than a couple bucks and some pocket change, only 3 items were accepted in a bag that I sent stuffed to capacity. I am extremely disappointed in this clean out bag turn out, and have about had it selling to Thred Up. I honestly don't even think I am going to shop with them anymore either. I really do not understand how after sending in so many bags to them and never having much of an issue before even though I knew then I was also being cheated out of my sellings, that this clean out bag would for sure be worth more. I hate saying that I am through with Thred Up, but I sadly can't keep supporting a company that can't be of better service with their own clean out system to their loyal customers."

Stolen items

"I sent a clean out bag to Thread up. I had my polk a dot bag plum full. Most cloths had tags still on them or not even worn once. Well 16 items were accepted and I wont even get into the disappointment of the $16.66 I was offered. The problem that I have several pieces that were "not accepted" were some pretty nice pieces of NEW clothing (NWT) that was as current as this season line from the designer. One piece being NWT black Reese Corduroy Jacket, NWT Bravani Barback knit top, also NWOT Rachel Roy Midi dress. These items are the ones that stick out in my mind because I had just purchased them as little as a month ago. I am sure there are a few more items that I just cant rember off hand. I had thought they would at list send me a pic of the items they did not accept like a competitor of theres does such as Swap they simply take a couple if pics with a few of your items they did not accepted with even a little detail as to why they were rejected. Also they show how much as in a % of your items were accepted ex....40% 50%. Maybe thats my mistake after dealing with a trust worthy company such as Swap that Thread up would fallow it the same kind of morally good ethics. Boy was I wrong. This company straight up rips you off and I presums sells the items they steal in thier Goody Boxs. Its actually pretty smart if u think about Whos to be the wiser? All the items you cant see till u get them so thier no trace really inless you yourself buy one and they try to sell you back your same stuff with now a jacked up price that you wont see a penny of. Surely the chances of that are slim if they keep continuing to steal items here items there. This company out for making money I get that but you dont need to steal from honest working people who are also trying to contribute to you hoping for a fair honest deal that we can agree to or not. I guess this is were others mighy say well you should have order the insurance 10.99 in reteriving your cloths back lets say I did that and took thier up front payment that would have left me with about $5 profit for a Full bag of Beatiful cloths that cost way more than that. I feel scamed. Just to let everbody know with the profits I do recieve like I do with Swap I use the credit to simply shop on thier site to buy things I like so they get thier money right back. Shame....."

“Hello there, we appreciate your feedback. We are sorry to hear you were unsatisfied with our Clean Out program. We really want to set expectations for sellers and the last thing we want to do is disappoint. All items we receive are carefully reviewed by our authentication and style experts to determine their quality and resale value. Sometimes they are VERY strict.

We do not profit much from every sale on our site. There is a misconception with many new sellers that we are taking advantage of them, but that is truly not the case. There are many expenses associated with our services and facilities, including the free shipping of our Clean Out bags. Our goal is to provide the easiest way to sell and thrift shop, not necessarily be the most profitable way to do so.

We understand if your goal is to earn more money that you may seek out other consignment options, and we certainly respect that. We are always here to help sell your items and clear your closet in the most convenient way possible!
Thank you.”

BEWARE!!

"I will not ever send clothes to sell through this store. I sent out a big bag of nice, name-brand clothes and shoes and they only sent me a few items back and kept the rest of my items to sell. That was in 2016 and still have not made anything from them selling my items. I finally saw one email on Sept 5, 2018 stating I have $11.87 in my Thred-up account to use and when I go on my account, it was only showing $1.92 in my account. I get ahold of customer service and ask them why I only have $1.92 in my account instead of $11.87 that they stated in my email, and they had the nerve to say they used 9.99 towards shipping cost. So not only are they profiting from selling my items, they are charging me to ship the items. Wow, this is a big SCAM! DO NOT SEND your items to this company, you will never see a profit or money back to you. It is just kissing your items goodbye. They are getting rich off of others, this should be a crime.

I learned my lesson and will never sell to them again or buy from their store.

Be careful people!!

TOTAL RIP OFF

"I sent in items that were new with tags, name brands etc and out of 25 to 30 items got $10.40, there were a pair of designer boots that alone were worth more than $10. Clothing much better than the wrinkled items I see on the site....I firmly believe they are ripping people off and based on lots of other comments I don't feel alone. "

Not perfect but still very happy

"I agree, as a seller ThredUp is not the best place to make a lot of money. But it is EASY! eBay has high fees and some buyers can be a pain in the **** and with eBay raising fees next year I've turned to ThredUp recently to get rid of old clothes. It's a very effortless once you get the bag, not quick but certainly simple. Throw it in, drop it off, and wait.

I'm making it my personal goal to really limit the new clothing I buy for myself so ThredUp has become new favorite of mine. I don't mind the $1.99 restocking fee - they're a business I get it. I wish they would add Men's clothing in as well.

My only complaint is how long it takes to request a clean out kit. Every time I check back, the date is further and further away. I wish I could add my name to a waiting list or something. Just a comfort to know the bag is coming and the clothes I don't want to wear anymore will be gone soon.

Changing policies like the shifting winds - I just can't give them a thumbs-up anymore

"Selling clothes at ThredUP? Don't expect a lot of money for your items. Mostly I like to shop at ThredUP. Or at least I used to. I LOVED THEM! But here's why my rose-colored glasses are off...

First, I had an order canceled. They refunded my money, but there was absolutely NO explanation. Nothing from customer service. Zip. Nada. No, "Sorry, we made a mistake." Nothing. I have NO clue whatsoever why they canceled the order. What kind of customer service is that? Nonexistent.

Next, their return policies have changed, and NOT for the better. When I first started shopping at ThredUP a few years ago, they had free returns if you credited your ThredUP account, and anything but handbags were returnable. Even better, they credited my account immediately when the returns hit the USPS. I say this all in past tense because over the last month or so, they have:

1) started charging a $1.99 restocking fee for each item returned
2) started offering some clothing as "final sale" - these aren't sale items, either. I considered a $50+ pair of pants and it was marked "final sale". Why would I spend that much knowing I can't return if they don't fit???
3) gotten rid of the immediate refund to my account
4) started charging extra for items located at warehouses not near where I live

I understand not allowing refunds in cash, but a company that sells clothing from a million different designers needs a decent return policy, even if they have to charge a little more. Sizing is such a crap shoot, you just never know. And to pay $50+ dollars for a pair of pants I can't return? Forget it. Most women understand that a size 12P at one design house is NOT the same as a 12P at another.

Ironically, Zulily (new items, not thrift like ThredUP), has now ADDED a return policy for most items where before their items were not returnable. So where I hesitated to buy things from Zulily before, I am not hesitating anymore. But I'm going to be knocking ThredUP off my favorite internet sellers list if things there keep up the way they're going. NOT COOL THREDUP! Ebay's return policies are better, which is saying something.

Come on ThredUP, get it back! You're going to lose this longtime customer.

Don't, just don't

"I'm out $30 because thier warehouse team lost an item that I returned. I don't have proof so I'm just left twisting in the wind and thier customer service didn't just washed thier hands of it without trying. Terrible terrible customer service! Stay far away.

I responded to the private message sent to me and no one has gotten back to me in a week.
